Portglenone - Season 13/14 - Northern Irish Premier Division

A season of pure and utter FAILURE! Expected to come in 16th, I was setting the mark at mid-table but my players had other ideas icon_biggrin.gif another way of viewing it

Yeah, quite nice, that one! Exceeded all expectation, dreams and wildest fantasies!

We also got to this final, which lead to this, this, this, a lot of this with a sprinkle of this to boot.

Oh, this was our first game in the league, kinda set the tone for the season.

Erm.. yes, Antrim Cup! We won that one as well, resulting in (here we go again) this, this, this, some of this and somewhat of this.

Okay, on to end of season screenies (only a couple, I promise!)

Finances - Overview

Finances - income

Finances - expenditure

My Overview

I had two players nominated here and three here, taking second here and third here.

Day set two records, goals andMOM's.

There weren't to be any surprises when the fans' player of the year was announced.

Hudson took 3rd in the seasons Top Scorer.

Lawler decided he wanted to be in the record books.

I took second place in Manager of the Year (a no contest, considering the league table)

The club set a new attendance record.

This seasons best 11.

Overall best 11.

My squad's stats

On to Signings:

Signing 1 - Williams - A pretty solid defender, something that was kind of lacking

Signing 2 - Jackson - A back-up to the spectacular Lawler at attacking midfielder

Signing 3 - Turnbull - Not spectacular by any stretch of the imagination but it's all about squad depth

Signing 4 - Mudd - Used as a wing-back after the board, well, you'll see.. Pretty solid

Signing 5 - Daniel - Thought my superkeeper was being sold, brought this one in as back-up when my keeper signed a new contract.

Signing 6 - Doyle - Very, very promising. Didn't have age to play so spent the year in the under-18's.

Signing 7 - Morgan - Used as cm or am, does pretty well whenever called upon

Ah, the board.. They got us into a great financial state by selling two players from under my feet but I don't blame them! They began before the season by selling my star left back, leaving my with no left backs! Then they sold Jay May, my star midfielder and leaving me with, well, no UberCool names in the squad!

And this so called "specialist" made me laugh icon_biggrin.gif

I think that's all? If not, just put in requests for me to turn down icon_wink.gif And please, make all the links work and look like I see it in my head icon_wink.gif

Okay, not what I expected but hey, I'm not complaining.

New Summer signing, he will be arriving this summer, and, if he continues to score goals at Knockbreda then we will be challenging for a top 6 finish next season, if there is one concern about this season, its that we don't score enough goals.

either that player being watched by Capello has real potential, or the England team has gone right down hill.... icon_wink.gif </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Gone? I thought it had already gone. icon_biggrin.gif </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

TBH he is a very good player, still only 18 and a rock at the back, I've already had Wolves and Bristol City bid £100k for him, which, the chairman took into his own hands and accepted, but, he did sign a new contract both times.

Talk about loyalty.

Happy Slappy. Knockbreda. N.Ireland Premier Division. 2010/2011

Well, we didn't do too bad IMO, respectable position, didn't concede too many goals, but we didn't score enough, because if we did, then we would have finished higher than 9th.

Graph, spent most of the season in the lower half of the table, not very good IMO.

Didn't score too many goals but they all counted in the end, with another striker coming in during the summer, we wont have to rely on Paul to score our goals for us.

Being in the Premier Division has helped improve our finances, not by much, but every penny counts.

And, here is my updated profile.

Rasharkin - Northern Irish Premier Division - 14/15 (Season 7)

Media Prediction: 1st

My Prediction: 1st

Final Position: 1st

Cups

Champions League Defeated by Skonto in the 1st qualifying round.

Northern Irish League Cup: Winners.

Irish Cup: Winners.

Antrim Cup: Lost agaimst Glentoran in the Quarter Final.

All-Ireland Cup Came 4th out of 4 in group A.

This season was a lot harder than I expected it to be as I was not at the top of the table for more than 3 games at a time. I had a fairly average start to the season but managed to get into a decent run and move up to 2nd place by the halfway mark. I thought that was where we would remain as we were still in 2nd place with 2 games to go. Luckily one of our remaining games was against the team that was top of the league. We won, which meant we moved up to top of the league with just one more game to go, which ideally I wanted to win. We went 1 - 0 up but they came quickly back and got it back to 1 - 1. Finally thugh after vast amounts of possesion we got our breakthrough and scored the winner in the 82nd minute (scored by none other than Dean Evans). Finances had slightly decreased but I wasn't too bothered about that. I also for the 3rd season in a row managed to pick up the Manager of the Year award.

League Table

League Positions Graph

Club Coefficients

Player of the Season: Dean Evans - Yes, once again this lad was far better than any other player in the league, scoring more than half of my team's overall goals. His total is now 249 in 228 games for the club.

Signing of the Season: Alexander Harris - The former Arsenal trainee had a solid first season at Rasharkin scoring 2 goals from midfield.

In Sabac, Macva, Serbia in July 2008 following the promotion of their football club, the directors have hired Radic Zlatanov, a Croatian born former scout. Radic has no experience as a manager, but the club are looking forward to his leadership and the fans are hopeful that they will finally be able to stay up.

***Looking forward to my first shot at this dhallenge based in Serbia.***

We've had a few people win the European Cup a few times, general carpness, and even more carpness.

Most of that may have been me, especially the carpness bit.

Good to have you back Jimbo.

There has only been two players who have completed the challenge this year. cookie15 won his champions league in 2020 with Norwegian club Skjetten (the same club he'd completed this challenge with last year aswel) and has amassed 4 Tippeligaen titles to boot. pjtopor was the other and currently holds the tag officially as being the most successful in this years challenge, he won the champions league in 2018 & 2019 and has won 9 domestic titles also with his Polish club Hetman Zamosc. icon14.gif

UGS - Challenge League - 17/18

Situation at the Winter Break - 9th not entirely where I wanted to be

During the break in came a DMC (not really needed tbh but he was free and good) and my first ever purchase; £2k bought me a Serbian striker from Servette who was apparently better than Maric.

First game back was a cracker with Delemont but we lost 3-4 so it was less of a cracker to me. 2 straight forward victories later and we lost 3-4 again icon_rolleyes.gif. Defence basically falling to pieces. Things improved though and by taking 14 of the next 18 points we climbed up to 6th past the freefalling Chiasso and Winterthur. Highlight was a great 3-2 win over Aarau. Even a draw in our penultimate game kept us 6th. Unfortunately a 93rd minute winner for Yverdon in our last game let Winterthur repass us. So we ended up in 7th. As this shows, it was a very mid-table season.

Can't really be too happy with that tbh; 19 less points and 3 positions worse and it was clear after 5 games that it was not going to be a great season. We somehow managed to concede 3 less goals than the previous season, but the fact we scored 26 less goals tells the whole tale. A top scorer of 12 goals is really not good at all. Although less goals were conceded, overall the defence was a lot worse as well...

Final Squad

Summary

Transfers - Proshin, Tedesco and Rasovic were pretty good, the rest served their purpose although Dussin's wages are extortinate and I hope to be rid of him in the Summer

Our star(ish) players this season were:

Best Defender - Stefan Schwarz - best again, although this time of a bad bunch, looking at him, I never think he is particularly fantastic but he continually plays well, something special would have to come in at DR to displace him

Best Midfielder - Romain Henneuse - the one that broke his leg 5 days before joining us last season, he looks a great player and he did OK but a lack of assists and goals, in mainly for his av rating which was better than any of the other multitude of MCs, awful disciplinary record though

Best Winger - Martin Brode - much less brilliant but still brilliant, 12 assists is great compared to how many goals we scored, he still looks as great so am hoping he returns to his stunning best next season

Best Striker - Arnaud Maric - pretty poor no. of goals but he was injured at several stages and next really found his rhythm, still good enough to win the supporters PoY award, am hoping it was just a blip and returns to his 25+ goal returns next season

So season number 11 in this godforesaken division awaits (people have won the Champions League in quicker time!). Never in CM/FM have I spent so long trying to get promoted, it better be worth it whenever it happens (if it ever does).

And I have little optimism about next season either. St Gallen finished bottom of the SL and both previous times they were in the CL they were champions finishing each time with a 30-3-1 record scoring a total of 203 goals over those 2 seasons. So they will be straight back up. Aarau won the playoff so Luzern are coming down as well, their previous season in the CL ended unbeaten with a 30-4-0 record and 110 goals and they have finished 3rd in the SL twice since that promotion. So they will be straight back up as well. We are in the pack with Delemont, Sion and La Chaux-de-Fonds trying to get 3rd (or better). And the main problem is the fact we are the only semi-pro team amongst that lot. We are floating around the £2m mark so it will be a few seasons before the magical £5m mark is reached.

I don't think my current squad can be improved that much in the current situation. I need a better DL, maybe one better DC and a second brilliant striker would be great (maybe the Serbian is that guy). Apart from that, I am very happy with what I have but you never know somebody even better may crop up. My scouts are really struggling though at the moment to recommend me any players that could improve the squad...

17/18 Best Eleven

Overall Best Eleven - Maric and Brode deservedly come in along with Hoffman who maybe does not deserve it; Sutter and Michael should be there as well but it needs to change to 4-4-2 for the former to come back in.

Randaberg IL - Norwegian Tippeligaen 2014 (Season 7)

Tippeligaen - Second. icon14.gif

Norwegian Cup - 3rd Round.

Club Info.

I had one sole objective for our first season in the Norwegian top flight and that was to merely survive, the Randaberg Board shared my pessimism. I strengthened may squad with some better known Norwegians mainly; M Hæsted, E Huseklepp and most importantly the new team captain Børre Steenslid (the first viking player i was able to secure icon_cool.gif ). The later named was inspirational at the heart of the Randaberg defence and led by example for much of the season, provided much needed experience at the back and was a calming influence on the improving youth prospect Andreassen (Norwegian U19). icon14.gif

Per Christian Myhre pulled the strings from the middle of the park yet again and he took to the step up in divisjon like a duck to water. He played some unbelievable passes at times and weighed in with some long range thunderbolts, two or three of them came late on in important games to gain us valuable points. icon_cool.gif

Stian Ringstad was ultra consistent as ever and had another storming campaign for Randaberg. With his value now approaching 1 million it'll be a fight to keep him here, although he seems content currently and has been one of the more loyal players at the club in his overall behavior. icon14.gificon14.gif

Borander keeps exceeding what I expect of him. First glance at his attributes wouldn't impress that much, take his lack of finishing for example? It doesn't look very good at 7, yet he's scored some absolute crackers with that right boot this season. Strong and great in the air aswel. icon14.gif

Alexander Haug He came through the clubs youth ranks during our early days in the first divisjon. Awesome finishing ability and a great player to have on the bench to put games to bed last 30/20 minutes. A future start in the making. icon14.gif

yes, it is basically a b*****d!

my board have not helped by refusing a parent club, with one of those i think i'd have been in this situation at least 5 years earlier and in the SL by now.

what i need to happen is the 2nd place club to lose the play-off so only one SL club comes down and for that club to be relatively weak. i reckon i had my chance in 15/16 but the squad was not strong enough. it is now, but now the other squads are stronger as well!

i will get promoted even if it takes aother 10 years. i think it should be possible in a few years time, i just need to improve my (away) results against the teams around us and hope they lose points elsewhere. easier said than done....

even then, from what i have read in this thread about other managers who have reached the SL, getting relegated will be the most likely outcome...

i have a 600 capacity stadium (never sold out and highest average has been around 470), adequate training and youth facilities and a youth academy (yet to produce anything too special).

i watch my wages carefully but i still lose about £30-40k a month and the only reason i am not severely in debt is because of the ridiculous prize money.

unless i can flog some more players for silly amounts it will be a long slog to the £5m mark.

Portglenon - Season 14/15 - Northern Irish Premier Division

The most fun season I've played on FM so far, leading to my manager overview. Three titles and one semi-final. First things first though:

Uefa Cup

Drawn against Hajduk of Split in the first round, I was not expecting too much.

First leg. We did better than I ever expected or even hoped, dominating possession although their class showed in the final third.

Second leg. Do not let the stats tell you anything, most of their shots posed absolutely no threat, what-so-ever. We had one goal disallowed while they had 2 (!) goals allowed that shouldn't have stood. Amazingly enough those ended up being the difference between the teams. Gutting!

We did get a full house, though, with a record amount in gate receipts.

So, that was that for our first European venture.

League Cup

It was our first time ever in the final of the league cup. We're building up quite a rivalry with Glentoran and I doubt they are liking it very much. as evidenced by this and these match stats and these player stats. Of course, the fans loved it!

Irish Cup

Well, we were back to defend our title against a team vying for their first title, the media went nuts with excitement. Well, kinda. Inwardly..

Somehow I am lacking in screenshots of the game itself so I'll stick to the frantic media coverage. Next I'm scaling Everest, which would no doubt please the board

The Premier League

We had some new expectations, no more consolidating or avoiding relegation. The media agreed. I didn't take a screenie of the league graph, but I can sum that one up quickly: 1st. There. However, here is the final table. Of course this was followed by all sorts of media frenzy. Here are the screenies:

Media confirms Championship

"You'll never win anything with kids" ftw

Supporters love me

Even the board is happy!

We did the double! would put that with the Irish cup but meh..

Okay, on to the

Assorted end of season screenshots

We had two nominated for the player of the year, unfortunatly without success. I didn't care too much because I got one of these

Then we had three nominated for the young player of the year, an award taken by Oliver Day

Here are my squad stats.

Portglenon's season best 11

And, of course, the overall best 11

Finances - overview

Finances - income

Finances - expenditure

Oliver day set a record and added another one.

Hudson added a record of his own and

Lawlor wasn't one to stay out of the record books. These are of course not end of season records, per se, but I can't be arsed to dig them up right now. Suffice to say, they still hold those records, albeit a bit improved.

Doyle became our youngest ever player.

Oliver Day was then voted the clubs player of the year

Once we dominated the Goals of the month

I got into the Northern Irish Hall of Fame

We set a HUGE, MASSIVE, GIGANTIC record for season tickets

Here are the league's player stats

My manager profile

We set a record for our biggest ever win and then proceeded to smash it, which was also another kind of record

Now, I made a whopping total of 0 signings so I thought I'd introduce you to a couple of my players. Or fifteen...

Hudson - Been just great, keeps battling Day for the lone striker role, win-win situation for me

Day - The other half of my super-strike-force.

Cole - Been great since signing, weighs in with crucial goals and assists, never a meaningless contribution to be had!

Lawlor - An absolutely immense player, my most favourite player ever in FM.

Hunt - Been great on the wing but also stepped up in the middle of the park when I really needed it.

Robinson - Look at that passing, he surely knows how to put it to good use. Massive, massive player.

Jackson - Another piece of my midfield puzzle, love them all to pieces.

Miller - My vice-captain. Finding himself on the fringes a bit in recent times but still very useful when called upon.

Mudd - No outstanding stats but does well as back-up

Turnbull - Half of my defensive rock, really solid.

Larmour - My first choice right-back. Been doing very well and getting better.

Doyle - Now my first choice left-back although he need some resting as he is quite young.

Morgan - Back-up for everything in midfield and up front when needed, getting better by the day at the end of the season.

Bagnall - Has a tendency to sneak up and hammer them in. The other half of my defensive rock.

Holmes - The absolute star of the team, getting interest from, amongst others, Everton. Have set an asking price of a million Euro, so far keeping hold of him.

That's it for now, with dinner and tv and stuff this update has taken me all of three hours! You lot better enjoy it! icon_wink.gif

FC Bex: End of Season Update 08/09

League Table - 16th

Swiss Cup - Semi-Final

Manager Profile

The season was ultimatly a success, however, it felt like a massive failure. At the start i tried to secure players into positions that were weak despite this my defence was left lacking all season and is the main reason that i didn't finish higher than i eventually did. The cup provided some slight relief for the finances but as always being a small team means it is difficult to make enough money to get into the black. In terms of attack my players were spot on and we finished as the 5th highest scorers in the league, however, my defence were inept and conceded the most.

One particular highlight was the twice loan signing of Ahamadou N'Diaye who hit 29 goals in 25 games and finishing the season as second highest scorer. My other striker Luca Zanni hit 19 in 32 which was reasonably good considering the league position.

To improve i think i need a revamp in defence and definatly a new keeper although i am finding it hard to get many good players interested in signing for me.

Onwards and upwards is the only thing i can say.

UGS - Challenge League - Winter Break 18/19

As I mentioned my scouts were not being that successful in finding players better than the ones I had but they managed to discover a few who were good enough. In the end, I only managed to sign 2 players but they were 2 very good players: a 20yo D RC who will not only slot into central defence but will cover Schwarz at DR as well, and a AM RL who is better than Michael on the right (he is actually better than Brode on the left as well but he won't be playing there). And that was it. Nothing noteworthy on the departure front either.

A pre-season where we did not conceded a goal gave me a bit of confidence but although we won our first 2 matches scoring 9 in the process we conceded 4 which concerned me a bit. First test was away at St Gallen: 2-4 = fail. We won the next 3. In fact after 5 games the top 6 were seperated by only 1 point. Next test was away at Luzern: 1-3 = fail. We pottered along winning most matches until we hit an very important 2 day period; Wed - Delemont(H), Fri - La Chaux-de-Fonds(A). I was certainly looking for more than 1 point from them. I knew at that moment that there was no chance of promotion, anything top 5 was the best to hope for and as the 2 previously mentioned sides seemed very good this season even that might be out of reach. Not much to say about the other matches, but a defeat at Wohlen was very bad. We go into the break in 6th place. Which given that it is in splendid isolation (15 points between 5th and 7th) is probably where we will end up.

What is very disappointing is in the 6 matches so far against the teams above us in the table we are 0-3-3, the 3 defeats being away from home and the 3 draws the only points we have dropped at home so far. Even if we had not embarrassed ourselves a couple of times against lesser opposition, we'd still only be 5th.

We have scored loads and Maric has refound his mojo; already past 20 while Sutter is in awesome form as well. Main problem is conceding; 2 4-3 victories against Martigny being fine examples of the sort of matches we play (that'll be a 1/4 of all their goals scored against us) . Ernst the 20yo D RC being out for 3 months did not help especially as I had released Berger (the long serving D RC back-up) without realising I had no-one else in the whole squad who could cover at DR. 5 reds (an impressive 3 for Montanier) is not great either.

Anyway, would be nice to get into the top 5 but not sure I can manage it tbh, should not concede 6th though.

tbf, go away.

If you were dislexic (although a lot of people use that excuse) i'm still pretty sure you would be able to spell words like: 'to' and 'you' properly.
