danthemanwhocan Posted February 10, 2015 Share Posted February 10, 2015 Whe i started a new game last night the star ratings went from 5 to 3 to 4.5 for both tye speed and performance. Firstly what can cause this, I am rather perturbed by the fluctuation. Newish laptop that was running FM just fine with 5 stars across the board. Secondly how much should i value the star ratings? FrazT Posted February 10, 2015 Share Posted February 10, 2015 The star ratings are a snapshot taken only at one particular moment and can be affected by background applications etc. If your game runs smoothly, then I would not worry too much about the star rating as it is a guideline only. FrazT Posted February 10, 2015 Share Posted February 10, 2015 It always makes sense to shut down any application that is running in the background when it is not being used, because it will be utilising some of the computer's resources. I would start by looking at what is loading at startup as these applications will always be live and many new computers will come with all sorts of unnecessary software pre-loaded.
