I am sick of ITV showing 'goal line technology' for practically every goal. Seriously, just show it when necessary.

The deal FIFA made with the company that makes the technology is it has to be shown once a game. Nothing to do with ITV.

I don't think they have a choice. It came up on the BBC aswell and Lawrenson was apologising for it and said it wasn't them.

Valdivia looks decent but im assuming theres a reason nobody picked him up when Palmeiras were relegated?

Immensely talented but inconsistent, lazy and a bit of a character off the pitch. Plus he appears happy at Palmeiras

Great salary, loved by the fans, still played Paulistao. He knew it was a one season thing too.
He has plenty of talent but gets injured often and is not very consistent.

And the factors Kpain mentioned too.

Fair enough! Hadn't realised they had already gone straight back up.

You know national sides only play a handful of games a year right? Your last coach isn't the reason you have a crap team now, it's because you have a crap team now.

Not sure if just stupid, or oblivious to the fact that this is our 51st international since the last World Cup. "A handful" of games to regenerate the team indeed.

We look just really nervous. Some really poor/inexperienced decision making. Good for us to get the first game out of the way, the bad thing is the two teams we have to play against next.

Great cross, brilliant header. Back in with a slim chance.

Won't take away that our team is poor but injuries did cruel us as well.

Really just a tournament to gain experience for us now.

The whole of Asia has been poor recently. Not too long ago all of Australia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Japan and South Korea were quality supplemented by sides like Iraq, Oman, Uzbekistan, China and UAE that can cause upsets. Jordan had a good qualifying run as well. To change anything now would be short sighted I think.

Also, Asia, 49 countries, 4.1b people, 4.5 spots. Europe, 50 countries, 742m people, 13 spots...

Chile such an odd and small backline. May regret not taking Marcos Gonzalez

He was such an awful player at Flamengo that we released him to get rid of him.

If what Cahill said is true that Austrialia feel like they could play 2x 90's etc basically they are very fit

... And seeing Chile running around a lot

Second half could get very interesting, especially Cahill vs those short defenders and Jedinak pushing up!

Our coach indicated before the game that the intent was to 'try and stay with' Chile and have our better conditioning show in the second half. Not sure how accurate that'll turn out to be.
