Attributes were selected with Design a Son, which is an FMT Unlockable. CA is limited to 50% of their PA, and PA is determined by the club you're at. Mine has Worldwide rep, so PA will be anything over 145 probably with Excellent Youth Facilities. 

20 Free Kicks, 20 Pens and 20 Long Shots were added, plus some player traits like "Curls Ball" and "Tries Free Kicks from Long Range", so there were a handful of 30 yard belters.

Also won the Icelandic Golden Boot, but hilariously the awards screen will show his goals conceded in the record books rather than goals scored  

I will be doing a writeup on his season in my series for T&B. and will put the link in here when it's up.

I don't know if I had just forgotten about this feature or never knew it existed, but I absolutely love this, (although I'm glad it's in FMT and not full-fat).

Same here, FMT needs its own unique features and this is probably the best one.

I might be tempted to have another look at FMT now. 

In the past I was put off by the absence of tutoring, but mentoring seems vastly different from tutoring and I'm still stumbling around trying to work it out. Have a feeling that you don't get the same number of players in each Youth Intake either and that might be an issue for me. 

Must give it a go again though. 

I want a stadium names after me in FM19. I've done loads, but never had that surprisingly.

The one in my Iceland save is named after me.

I'm half tempted to stick unsackable on, and holiday through the rest of my son's career and keep him at the club to see how he finishes up with being on FK and pens duty.

By then the club could get a new ground and I wonder if they'd name it after my son then

If my son got a stadium named after him before I did I think I would disown him. 

If a stadium was named after me and they knocked it down and named the new one after him I don't know what I would do.

Nope - Haven't even purchased it. He's made insane progress since I got him. His Personality was the same from day 1 as well, I put him in the U23's after 6 months as the U23 personalities were better, and he's been added to the first team GK Training unit.

BTW -  this is his second year at the club, Enlgish Second nationality was an added bounes.

It takes a weekend for me to scout\trial Hundreds of the youth newgens that are availible on day 1 - This save, I got a bunch who look great. (6 out of the recruited 15, I trialed 125 payers overall). I also send the first 2 seasons replacing\upgrading the staff for the best i can get. (Much harder this year though).

I thought the Technical stats were a waste when i got him, until I saw this. Scouts rate him as Championship Level now. I just wish I could workout how to bump his decisions a bit better

The reason I ask is because his attributes don't look like those I would normally see for a GK of that age. 

I did a search of all GK's and decided I would just look at 1 of Saez's attributes and use that as a template. 

I wanted to use his "Outfield rating of 7" for the template but I couldn't work out how to use it, so instead I used his technique attribute of 16.

271 of them are GK's.

0 if them have a technique attribute of 16 or higher. 

0 of them have a technique attribute of 15 or higher.

Fair enough - I've never actually looked at those stats for a comparison - That's quite intersting - He was one of the newgens I found floating around, so he's completely random. These have always had strange attribute spreads, but yes, this one looks extreme, so i completly understand why it could look like an edited player

I actually never even took note of his Technical attributes - I'll sign a Goalkeeper on Goalkeeper traits only - Exceptions will be the 4\5 star rate newgens i sign at the start - I got a lot of these, as the spurs team in 19 needs a lot of depth adding - One area is Goalkeepers, so I tend to hunt for Keepers I can develop. On avereage, I sign 2 free as gambles, and 1 more know - This kid is the only gamble that's paid off

I completely agree that i've never seen those attributes on a Goalkeeper until this kid appeared and developed.

I don't even know what his CA\PA are, So i'm also questioning the scout report that says he's 5 stars with those stats already.

I got a new goalkeeper through my last youth intake and he has the potential to be with us for a long long time. As long as the board don't sell him like they did with Ansong 24g of course.

His name is Chris White 29a. I like to imagine him as a cousin of our old goalscoring keeper Paul White.

Decent free kick taking for a 16 year old. He just scored his first, on a pen, but still. He sat a record for that.

A nice record for a goalkeeper to have.

Edit: Oh, and I almost forgot. He scored once last season, just after he came through.

Some people have asked me how often I concede from attacking situations with my GK left stranded upfield. The answer surprisingly is not very often actually, but it does happen and here is one such example.

I was hoping to hit the 100 goal mark at the 1st attempt, but it's looking highly unlikely now. 

Lesec (FRA) (Bal) is 34 now, but there are a few reasons that he will never reach the 100 goal mark. 

1. He's really just not very good and were he not a GK who had scored loads of goals I would have binned him long ago in favour of a poorer CA player who has better PA. 

The things to look at here are that he is not very eccentric at all, but has reasonable free-kick taking and technique, but an awful penalty taking attribute. (He has scored a LOT of penalties with a 1 attribute for penalty taking). 

2. The potential of other players is far in excess of his current level of ability. 

Rated by PA, you can see that all 5 of the other GK's at the club have a higher PA than that of Lesec (FRA) (Bal)  and it's reasonable to suggest that he isn't going to get any better at this stage of his career. 

3. Another GK now is now rated higher by CA than  Lesec (FRA) (Bal) for the first time in the save. 

(23e) Bouchez (F.Det) * is now the top-ranked GK at the club and as such will start the 2029/2030 season as 1st choice.  will be back-up, but I don't expect him to feature and he is likely to remain stranded on 78 career goals.

The goal-scoring GK is dead.

I honestly don't know as I have never seen it before. 

The only thing that I can think of is that he anticipated that we were going to recycle the ball and after initially starting to drop back, (he delivered the initial ball from a wide free-kick), he changed his mind and went forward again and when the ball came to him he just attacked the space in behind and crossed for the goal. 

That is honestly my favourite ever FM goal I think.

He has an anticipation attribute of 9, so I think the above might be possible at least.

Here's a nice real life one from last week. The legendary Elliot Morris scores his first goal for Glentoran, after 723 appearances.  And judging by the kick and his post-match interview, I genuinely believe he meant it, too.

They do have a free kick attribute visible. 

I would completely ignore the Penalty Taking attribute but other than that you need to just give it a go and see what happens. 

In terms of how to avoid getting caught on the break, my strategy, (a very successful one I might had), was to use multiple layers of defence to give us the best chance of winning the ball back from any clearance. It has worked well for a few years now but the latest patch has found me out and I have stopped all but central shots at goal by my GK.

2029/30 - Only the 2 goals this season.

2030/31 - Has been amazing, 8 goals in 35 games so far.
