Don't suppose there's odds of no African team progressing?

Was thinking of doing it via a dual forecast accu excluding the African team in each but that doesn't work.

No African team- Ghana, Nigeria, Algeria, Ivory Coast, Cameroon.

Download the Paddy Power Messenger App.

Type ‘FOLLOW WORLD CUP’ and press SEND

It will say ‘Following Category World Cup’

24 hours later they will message you with a random team in the sweepstake

If they win the World Cup you get £100.

If they concede most group stage goals you get £50.

Basically a 1/16 chance to win a prize for free.

I got Australia on this. Won't win it but they certainly could concede the most goals with 3 strong teams to face.

hills going brazil at evens tommrrow at 12 max stake only £20 though

awesome. Got to remember that.

For the first game- my mug bet is I think Brazil will win comfortably. Croatia not so acquinted with the climate, and missing Mandzuric so miss maybe a score outlet. So I reckon Brazil 2-0, or 3-1. But I'm probably overlooking how much pressure there is on the hosts and that may have it's effect.

Done a few goalscorer bets, mainly for fun, as I've never really done any proper calcs on topscorer bets, as they are usually not worth it due to the time it ties up money. Now however, there is basically nothing else for weeks, except for some Norwegian lower league.

Okazaki (150/1), Sanchez (60/1), Giroud (65/1) and Immobile (120/1). Just want to have them up here when one of them inevitably wins it :)

What got me started in betting was a bet on Milan Baros as top goalscorer in Euro 2004, so here's to another one!

Anyone fancy 888.com:

England to lift the trophy

66/1

;)

Well you know since everyone is pessimistic of England's chance- surely the best time to bet on them! I mean they went to Brazil and drew with them 2-2 in a friendly. Vs Brazil! But I ain't betting on them :D

Few more pre WC betting thoughts if you're interested, (and quick!) at my blog here.. http://thecolumnofcertainty.wordpress.com/2014/06/11/the-best-ante-post-world-cup-bets/.Good luck everyone

Good tips.

'the intelligent punter's guide to the world cup:'

http://www.theweek.co.uk/football/world-cup-2014/58919/the-intelligent-punters-guide-to-the-world-cup-2014

says

Fred @22/1 to be top goalscorer, as he scored 5 in the confederations.

And http://www.soccerbase.com/

Some top tips there. Although I might disagree with them on Spain-Holland as I think Holland might put up some opposition.

I read in another forum saying the away team has always kick off the opening game since 1986. It's because of some fifa fairplay rule. Anyone can confirm that there is such a ruling? Was thinking of betting on the away team to kick off with high odds of 1.9.

both that and the england v italy one closed :( as of 12 o clock.

I said on chat to them that there isn't even a thing on their website to let people know so peopel could end up betting £100 and he said that's not their perogative and quoted some t + c about how they can close any promotion at any time. so I told him they've sh*t themselves having tried to copy bet365 and he told me he doesn't have to take abuse and has closed the convo :(

I like Corals market of how many goals will be scored by individual teams in the group stages. I had a few £20 free bets and put one of them on this:

- Holland to score 4 or more in the group stages

- Ivory Coast to score 4 or more in the group stages

- England to score 4 or more in the group stages

- Argentina to score 7 or more in the group stages

- Portugal to score 5 or more in the group stages

Returns £474.92

Might as well stick my neck out with my actual bets thus far:

A fair few long-odds shots for Golden Boot:

Eden Hazard 80/1

Aleksandr Kokorin 150/1

Vedad Ibisevic 150/1

Josip Drmic 100/1

Hulk 50/1

Some individual country top scorers

Hazard Belgium 6/1

Son Heung-Min Korea 15/2

Juan Cuadrado Colombia 16/1

Karim Ansarifard Iran 8/1

Yoshito Okubo Japan 9/1

Enner Valencia Ecuador 7/1

Carlos Pena Mexico 20/1

Ivica Olic Croatia 8/1

Vincent Aboubaker Cameroon 13/2

A lucky 15 of Japan, USA, Nigeria and Algeria to qualify from their groups and a pair of singles and a double on Ecuador and Ivory Coast to finish last in their groups.

May as well throw all of mine in here too:

Messi top tournament scorer 16/1 (paddy offer)

Neymar tts e/w 11/1 (+£5 freebet when he scores, paddy offer)

Lukaku tts e/w 33/1 (made with a free bet, larger stake than any of my other bets)

Drmic tts e/w 100/1

Drmic top scorer for his team

Lukaku as above

Vargas (Chile) as above

Drmic / Lukaku double as well.

Spain win 13/2 (returned if Bra/Arg win)

Argentina win e/w 11/2 (=£5 freebet on the opening game)

England to go out in the quarters 4/1 (placed with a freebet)

Bra/Arg/Spa/Bel all win their group @ 4.4

Bra/Spa/Eng win groups @ 7.5

Algeria win grp H (w/o Bel) 13/2

Germany exit at grp stage 11/2

Bosnia and Switzerland both to qualify from their groups 2/1

none of Australia/Costa Rica/Honduras to score 120/1 (before I saw how Gills did it for 190/1+ :()

On the Neymar AGS tonight at 2/1 (where I got another £20 freebet from Paddy, for using their Messenger app), and Brazil at evens.

Selected Argentina as my 888sport team (£5 on any market in their games at 1.5+ = freebet equiv. to £5x how many goals they score)

So many freebet offers  Tempted to place more stuff. May do, but only if both offers today come in.

Likewise:-

Top Scorer

Higuain @ 20/1

Dzeko @ 50/1

Benzema @25/1

Hulk @ 40/1

Treble of Robben, Balotelli & Dzeko to top score for their countries at 30/1

Brazil, Spain, Colombia, Italy, France, Argentina, Germany & Belgium to win their groups @ 59/1

France, Brazil & Germany to score 9 group points @ 37/1

Croatia, Chile, England, Ecuador, Bosnia, Ghana, Colombia & Belgium to qualify @ 116/1

Honduras/Costa Rica/Algeria not to score @ 179/1

Australia/Iran/South Korea not to score @ 275/1

England to exit in the last 16 at 11/4

And then Argentina to win at 11/2

As well as few accumulators on matches.

Speculative

Brazil, Sapin, Ivory Coast, Italy, Switzerland, Argentina, Germany, Belgium to win their groups 307/1

Australia, Costa Rica and Honduras to get 0 points 20/1

Cameroon, Australia, Costa Rica, Honduras, Iran Algeria to finish bottom of their group 7/1. Looking at South Korea's form, Algeria will beat them.
