Or Eagles on the left in a straight swap for Richardson as it is now and was in the last match.

Why aren't Jones, Gibson and Evans getting at least 30 minutes? It's not like it's a serious match. These pre-season matches are supposed to be for this kind of thing. We know all about Giggs, Scholes and Fletcher.

I've not watched the match. I'm just making a general observation / prediction.

I'm adopting Mika's outlook. It's the only way.

I didnt think Evra was star man, caught out of position often and gave it away cheaply at times. Didnt think anyone stood out, Simpson was pretty good, so was Richardson and the centre halves. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Simpson was good, Centre halfs i thought average and Kieran good but not as good as Evra & Simpson.

I think we can both agree on our worst player though.

Reds reject Ruud bid

United have rejected a bid from Real Madrid for Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The 29-year-old forward has been strongly linked with the La Liga giants since admitting that he wants to leave Old Trafford after five years in England.

Speaking after United's pre-season win over Kaizer Chiefs, Sir Alex Ferguson revealed: "We have received a bid for Ruud van Nistelrooy from Real Madrid, which we have refused.

"As it stands, Ruud van Nistelrooy remains a Manchester United player."

Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed Manchester United have turned down a bid from Real Madrid for Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Ferguson also revealed that United made an offer for Tottenham midfielder Michael Carrick that was rejected.

"There is no agreement with Real and United over Ruud. We have refused their offer," said the United boss.

"We are trying to sign another central midfielder. We have made a bid for Michael Carrick but Tottenham Hotspur turned it down."

Reports suggested that Van Nistelrooy was set to put pen to paper following a medical on Wednesday, but it is believed that Real did not get close enough to United's £15m valuation for the 30-year-old striker.

Van Nistelrooy asked to end his five-year career at Old Trafford after falling out with manager Sir Alex Ferguson last season.

bbc article. Carrick bid rejected as well (well we knew that) but at least we know Fergie definately looking at central midfield.

Why the **** was Jonah only given 10 minutes? icon_mad.gif

He's blatantly going to get shunted out on loan again after 'failing to impress' in pre-season, while JOS racks up forty appearances in the heart of our midfield. Aaaarrrrrgggh

IN OTHER NEWS!

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Walsall 1 United Reserves 1

A second-half equaliser from Paul McShane earned United's Reserves a 1-1 draw against Walsall at the Bescot Stadium.

The 20-year-old Irish defender glanced home a header after 66 minutes to level Kris Taylor's first-half opener for the hosts.

With the Reserves rendered managerless by Rene Meulensteen's departure to Brondby, Brian McClair took the reins in his second spell as caretaker manager.

Reds keeper Tom Heaton produced a wonderful one-handed save to deny Hector sam, but was helpless to stop Taylor's angled right-foot shot on 34 minutes.

United pressed for an equaliser, but were unable to forge any clear-cut openings before the interval. Then, six minutes after the hour-mark, McClair's side drew level as McShane glanced in Michael Barnes' cross-cum-shot inside a packed penalty area.

Both sides had chances to snatch the win, with Fraizer Campbell denied by a tremendous last-ditch challenge from Ian Roper, while Saddlers striker Martin Butler headed against the crossbar in the final minute.

United's young Reserves will be satisfied with their solid pre-season start, while the game's major plus came through Floribert Ngalula's return from a hip injury.

After almost a year out of action, the young Belgian midfielder lasted 45 minutes before being replaced by Aaron Burns.

United: Heaton (Crockett, 46), Gray, Rose, McShane, Shawcross, R Jones, Marsh (Barnes, 46), Ngalula (Burns, 46), Campbell, Martin (Hewson, 60), S Evans (Mullan, 46). </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
