kris0710
Cambridge United Football Club Skrill Premier 2017/18 March Very much a month of good and bad. Rene Howe hitting 8 goals this month led him to a record with Rhodri Roberts becoming more and more an influence on this team. Newport were simply destroyed while we tried our hardest to blow a 3-0 lead at Forest Green. The final win of the month saw Aldershot beaten as we came from behind. Now for the losses, Dave Walker scored two stunning goals to give Lincoln the three points in what was 5th vs 6th before the month ended terribly. Only two goals from new youth product Pauley saved some face as we were 4-0 down against Morecambe following the 3-0 defeat by Ebbsfleet. Five games left which are Welling (8th) at home Woking (11th) away Eastbourne (19th) away Exeter (2nd) at home Whitehawk (24th) at home Records What a free transfer he has been. The new Howe hopefully. At 15 years and 294 days Pauley also became the youngest scorer for Cambridge.
kris0710
Youth Candidates Best of the youth intakes so far. Adam Pauley - Already scored twice for us Ian Connett - Came on as sub in the defeat to Morecambe Alan Campbell - Looking to get him loan out next season and see what happens. kris0710
Cambridge United Football Club Skrill Premier 2017/18 April The final month started better than I could have imagined with is hitting six past Welling but three defeats eventually ended our play-off hopes. The season ended well though with Holroyd ending his goal drought, my player of the year Roberts scoring and with our final effort on target Rene Howe scoring his 31st league goal of the season. Our best finish in my time here Records
kris0710
Cambridge United Football Club Skrill Premier 2017/18 End of Season Skrill Premier The best finish in my time here with us ending 8th, seven points off the play offs. FA Cup Defeated in the 4th Quali. round replay against lower league King's Lynn despite taking a 2-0 lead. FA Trophy Another first game exit, this time to Southport. Beaten 3-1 at home. Finances In terms of wages we have spent the season within £200 of the budget. The bank balance sits at -£37,174. Squad Hoping for a summer of few changes and that appears to be the case. 14 players have signed new deals with the club and we are letting left back Christian Hill, centre midfielder Russell Rogers and forward Alan Ralphs leave. Already tied up is deals for a new striker and back up centre back. I'm now just looking for a left back and the squad building is done. kris0710
A great year considering the improvement from the prior year. Take that new step up this year and promotion will be looming! Certainly hoping for more progress in the league and definitely in the cups. For the first time in a while I have the basis of squad going into pre season Definite progress - was there a change of tactics in there? Since my opening post I've changed tactics four or five times dependant on the players I have. This season was more 4-2-2-2 with two CM and then AMR/AML as last season I played with the AML in the ML position. The change in left backs and the signing of Mingoia meant I needed to be more attacking down that left side/ Made some very good strides last season Hopefully next season will see that continued upward curve. Also nice to see you've finally got a decent youth prospect come through in the shape of Adam Pauley Been a very good season considering what has happened before. Pauley is looking good, just needs some work in a specialist role up front. Need to ensure he gets game time next year not just rot in the u-18's. Hmmmm. Hope this turns out good. Expectations: Skrill Premier: Respectable league position FA Cup: First Round FA Trophy: Fourth Round Season Budgets: Transfers: £8,220 Wages: £17,872 per week Wages Spend: £17,138 Transfers: Enda Fallon - Fits the bill perfectly as he can play either wing and as a striker. Tried to sign in January but offer was rejected then to my delight he was released from Sligo Rovers Ken Rushe - Winger signed from parent club Yeovil on loan. Won't be a first team starter but i'm sure he will play a part during the season Andy Uwins - This deal was signed and sealed in January. Young defender should get a few games this year. Nathan McGinley - Next starting left back on loan from Middlesbrough. Spent last year on loan at rivals Luton doing a decent job Results: Good pre season hopefully brings a good season!! kris0710
Cambridge United Football Club Skrill Premier 2018/19 August As normal August has a bit of everything in it. Beaten by a better team in the opening match we then profited from a red card at Exeter to take the points with Chris Holroyd scoring twice. Failed to take advantage of an early lead and an extra man against Altrincham as once again we struggle at home. Although the away from took a nosedive at Macclesfield where we found ourselves 4-0 down after just 27 minutes. Two gaols made it look more respectable before a late own goal from Maddison sealed the Macc win. Ended August with a comfortable home win against Gateshead. Takeover The best possible news. My current chairman may not have deep pockets but he keeps the club afloat and has been very loyal to me.
kris0710
Cambridge United Football Club Skrill Premier 2018/19 September You could not come across two so different away performances than the start of this month. Destroyed by the pace of the Bristol Rovers attack we were soundly beaten despite bossing possession with 61%. Then came Braintree, again televised, where we scored the opening four goals before a late strike ruined any clean sheet bonus! Could not really complain at one point from the next two game as we barely created any chances so a few team changes followed as did 7 points. Roberts has been a huge player for us in the last 18 months but he is being well supported by wingers Fallon and Mingoia while the scoring pressure is relaxed from Rene Howe with youth product Pauley taking his tally to 7 goals in 13 games since joining in March. kris0710
Cambridge United Football Club Skrill Premier 2018/19 November Being so inconsistent is frustrating! Two struggling sides were put away with ease but then up against two of the better sides we were done over with ease. Only four league games but we have had three cup matches too and the squad has struggled with injuries and bans. Rhodri Roberts was in and out with a ban, international call up and a broken nose. For the trip to Stockport we had both centre backs suspended. Still a very tight league but need a run of wins to put us in the mix FA Cup Slow close to a shock, twice! Middlesbrough needed a 92nd minute strike to earn a replay and that game was a tight was the first. All the way to penalties where nine of the ten were scored. Only Rene Howe missed. FA Trophy A goal and a man down we came back well and put ourselves into the next round at home to Witton.

Guest El Payaso
Good run in the cups there! I know how frustrating it is when your team just plays really well one day and three days later the same team isn't even trying to play... Maybe my main frustration in the game as AI teams tend to be like that also. In my save I've been everything but a success in cup games... In the first season with the original version of the beta I managed to get to FA Trophy final with Boston United but after the updates I've just been easily beaten by the bigger clubs. I blame the patches and the new tactics system though.
kris0710
Cambridge United Football Club Skrill Premier 2019/20 Pre Season Expectations: Skrill Premier: Respectable league position FA Cup: First Round FA Trophy: Fourth Round Season Budgets: Transfers: £5,260 Wages: £20,486 per week Wages Spend: £19,682 Transfers: Happy to lose the five first squad members we did and I think the squad is stronger now than a year ago. Winger McQueen has got himself a move to League One Notts County with youngsters Lamacroft and Hernandez at Dover and Brackley John Dafydd - Taken a punt on a young Welsh lad following the success of another Welshman at Lincoln. 89 goals in 105 games for Dave Walker who Lincoln picked up from Newtown. Cian Kavanagh - The youngster has performed well at Glenavon for two seasons and comes in a back up to Scott and McGlynn. Tom Bonner - Back at the club after leaving in 2016 due to lack of budget. Can play across the back and brings plenty of experience. Lloyd James - Plenty of League One experience I expect him to form a good backbone of this club over the next three years. Tom Bender - Plenty of clubs but not many games this is a pit of a gamble. Can play across the backline also which adds to the attraction. Stuart Price - Most definitely a back up player I am trying to secure a loan signing in his role and get Stuart some game time on loan at a lower level. Solly March - Will provide good competition for winger Fallon. Results Good pre season all in all. Plenty of goals and part from Roberts being out for three weeks we got through injury free. Guest El Payaso
Just noticed that you let Christian Hill go. He's been solid for me, reached his potential though. I've played him both as a winger and full-back and he's basically only one in my defence that has got decent ratings because he picks up an assist at times. Jordan Binns on the other side, not too great even with his better attributes. Hopefully I can gain a promotion to League-2 next season and we'll see what full time training offers us. That Bender guy for me in Skrill North was a walking disaster. Made a mistake and gave him a starting place with severaly lacking match fitness and he really made me pay. Missed training three times in four weeks, then requested stupid money to stay. He has actually retired now as no club took him on after me. Bender has had a couple of little injuries meaning he has only featured three times but so far so good. Hoping my young and old strike force can push us to the play-offs this term. kris0710
Cambridge United Football Club Skrill Premier 2019/20 August The best start in the seven years I have been here. Starting with experienced Howe and my Welsh gamble Dafydd has really paid off with 9 goals between them. The only defeat has come against one of early pace setters Welling while the win at Newport County is the stand out performance of the month. Award Transfers Bad news ahead of the opening game with League Two side Bolton and Championship side Middlesbrough sniffing around centre back and new captain Cameron Scott. Both bids fell short of what I wanted but after Scott declared his unhappiness at the Bolton bid being rejected and not wanting to sign a new contract as his one expires next summer I set about getting a deal with Middlesbrough that suited us. We did that by getting a deal worth £17k up front and a friendly clause. The final clause is the one I hope benefits us most with a 50% sell on fee included. Needing to replace Scott I had three players shortlisted in the centre back role. Two were way out of price range but Eamonn Costello certainly wasn't. Agreed a deal to bring him in on January 1st when his Shamrock contract expired but then took advantage of the 'buy now' button which showed that Shamrock were willing to let him leave now. kris0710
Cambridge United Football Club Skrill Premier 2019/20 September The strong start to the season continues with a second month that reaps 11 points. Kicking off the month with the televised game against Luton where we picked up a good point before easing to three points at Tamworth. Former player Alan Ralphs hit a treble as Bristol Rovers once again beat us easily. We looked to have dropped the points at Nuneaton as they scored with just five to play but winger March and once again Dafydd scored in stoppage time. The trip to Exeter had almost everything in it. Two more for Dafydd put us two up before new signing Costello was sent off. This led to the home side storming back and taking the lead 3-2 before sub Roberts played a one-two with Dafydd and slide home the leveller late on. Once again it was the 18 year old Welshman that stole the show against Lincoln scoring both taking his tally to 12 goals in 10 games. He has been helped massively by Rene Howe who may only have 3 goals in 12 games but Howe has 10 assists to his name already. League Stats

Great work on reaching the final of the FA Trophy, I just hope the takeover & new chairman isn't the demise of your time at Cambridge. Glad you are enjoying. Despite limping through most seasons I am genuinely enjoying this save as much as any I ever had. kris0710
Cambridge United Football Club Skrill Premier 2019/20 October Again a month with just one defeat, which I take full blame for. With Port Vale just days later I rested five of my normal starters for the trip to bottom club Boston. We also had no Dafydd due to Wales U-19 call up. It backfired badly and we were comfortably outplayed. We scraped a win over Southport before that defeat and then for Port Vale we were back to almost full strength. When one young forward is out the other comes in and does the business with young product Pauley performing great. Dafydd returned and struck another brace as we came back from 2-0 against Gateshead. Too early to crown Welling champions yet? FA Cup Easily into the 1st Round where we face a trip to the North East again as we did last season.
