Hearts are in talks with Greek Euro 2004 winner Panagiotis Fyssas and the defender spent Tuesday training with the Edinburgh club.

"He has a fantastic pedigree and has a lot of experience which is exactly what we are looking for," chief executive Phil Anderton told the Evening News.

"He's definitely the kind of player we want and feel he is the sort of player that can help us move forward."

The 32-year-old has been capped 46 times for Greece.

Fyssas played for Panionios and Panathinaikos in his home country before moving to Portuguese giants Benfica in December 2003.

"Now it's just the usual kind of story where we have to sit down and work out contracts," added Anderton. "He trained yesterday with the rest of the lads and we will hopefully sit down with him soon to look at the next step."

Meanwhile, terms have now been agreed with Senagalese international defender Ibrahim Tall.

Anderton said: "We've had discussions with Tall and it's really down to the manager now whether he wants to bring in a player at the kind of values we are talking about.

"I think it's fair to say if we want the player then we will bring him in."

He isn't the R. Carlos type of player but he's strong in the air and could fit well in the SPL.
