Long Eaton United - December 2015/16

LEUFC.png

Long Eaton United

02.12.15 - Northern Premier League - Long Eaton United v Mickleover Sports : 1-0 : December saw us welcoming local rivals Mickleover Sports to Grange Park and within 14 minutes we were in front thanks to Jordan Brown’s 2nd goal of the season. It was a match with very little incident after the goal so it was no surprise that the game ended 1-0.

05.12.15 - FA Cup 2nd Round - Kettering Town v Long Eaton United : 1-2 : After dispensing of Grantham Town in the 1st round, our reward was an away trip to Blue Square North outfit Kettering Town with most people considering them the favourites to win. After 7 minutes, those pre-match predictions looked about right as the home side went in to the lead through Scott Davidson; but we shown some grit and hit back 10 minutes later through Will Aimson’s 6th goal of the season. 13 minutes later and we raced into the lead thanks to Charlie Sheringham’s rasping shot which almost broke the net, putting us 2-1 up and looking like we might just cause an upset. From there, we took hold of the match and asserted our authority on the game which saw us awarded a stone wall penalty on 74 minutes. Charlie Sheringham stepped up to take it but Laurie Walker made a fine save to deny him, leading me to think that maybe it might not be our day. However, 2 minutes later Kettering were reduced to 10 men and from there we were always in control of the game as we saw it out to book our place in the 3rd round!

09.12.15 - Northern League Challenge Cup 4th Round - Long Eaton United v Prescot Cables : 4-1 : A comfortable game for us which saw us dispose of lowly Prescot Cables thanks to Rob Holding’s 1st goal of the season, a brace from Cameron Brannagan, his 7th and 8th of the season and Sean Mullen’s 3rd of the season.

12.12.15 - Northern Premier League - Long Eaton United v Frickley Athletic : 1-0 : A closely fought game which saw us grab the decisive goal thanks to David Moli’s 10th goal of the season.

15.12.15 - Northern Premier League - Ilkeston v Long Eaton United : 0-1 : Another local derby for us as we made the short trip to the New Manor Ground in a game which saw us create a lot of chances, but mainly off target. Fortunately for us though, the one shot we did have on target, we managed to put in the back of the net as Charlie Sheringham netted his 16th goal of the season to clinch the points for us.

19.12.15 - Northern Premier League - Ashton United v Long Eaton United : 1-2 : Games were coming thick and fast now as our trip to Ashton United made it 6 games in 17 days, a hard ask on the players, especially on a small squad of players like ours. Hence the arrival of Henry Jones who joins us on loan from Crewe for the remainder of the season to help bolster the squad numbers. He went straight into the squad and at times looked to be struggling to fit in as did the rest of the players as we put in a very poor performance. Ashton, given our below par performance, unsurprisingly took the lead on 24 minutes but David Moli altered my half time team talk as he pulled us back to 1-1 a minute before the break. I still ripped in to the players at half time but not as much as I would’ve if we were losing; that half time talk seemed to spur the players on as they came out better in the 2nd half and Nicky Travis grabbed the winning goal for us 12 minutes from time to give us the win.

23.12.15 - Northern Premier League - FC United of Manchester v Long Eaton United : 1-1 : The amount of games were definitely affected us now as we looked tired and fresh out of ideas throughout this match. FCUM looked just as tired so when we managed to grab a late goal 3 minutes before full time thanks to Charlie Sheringham’s 17th of the season, I thought we had nicked the points. We couldn’t hold on though as our tired legs conceded a late goal, a minute into injury time, meaning we had to share the points.

26.12.15 - Northern Premier League - Long Eaton United v Grantham Town : 0-3 : Last month saw us knock Grantham out of the FA Cup at the 1st round stage…this game saw us struggle to come anywhere near how we performed that day as a mix of tiredness, the amount of recent games we’ve had and generally a poor performance, not to mention Grantham playing well, added to the reason why we got thumped 3-0 at home.

30.12.15 - Northern Premier League - Mossley v Long Eaton United : 1-2 : We ended December with our 9th game of the month away at promotion chasing Mossley as we continued our poor form. Mossley took the lead through Max Leonard on 68 minutes leaving us to wonder where it was all going wrong recently but Charlie Sheringham stepped up to the plate and hit an inspired 4 minute brace to snatch the victory for us in a very closely fought game.

December League Table : A fantastic month for us only marred by a bit of a blip at the end of it sees us extend our lead at the top of the table as we sit 7 points clear of Burscough with a game in hand. We had wins in the cup as well as we’re through to the FA Cup 3rd round where we face stiff opposition in the form of Barnsley and are also through to the Northern League Challenge Cup 5th round where we meet fellow Northern Premier League side Marine.

With a lot of games coming at us now, something will have to give, whether that’s our form, injuries, suspensions or competition knockout’s, we have to make sure that we try and continue the great work that we’ve done so far in the first half of the season.

Doing brilliantly so far, hopefully the good form stays with you to help you out at the top of the table.
Very comfortable.

Cheers guys

7 points clear a game in hand .. Just need to keep their heads and you win the League. Good to see someone doing a fairly local team to me, caught my eye for sure.

Thanks brettney . Long Eaton is local to you?

Long Eaton United - January 2015/16

LEUFC.png

Long Eaton United

02.01.16 - FA Cup 3rd Round - Long Eaton United v Barnsley : 1-3 : We welcomed League One outfit to Grange Park knowing the mammoth task we had in front of us so it was no real surprise when we went in 3-0 down at half time. Still, I wanted at least some dignity in our performance and result so Will Aimson’s 7th goal of the season brought a little bit of respectability for us as the game ended 3-1 and with us out of the cup. For us to have reached the 3rd round of the FA Cup though is a fantastic achievement for us!

06.01.16 - Northern Premier League - Long Eaton United v Blyth Spartans : 0-1 : Our recent up and down form continued in this game as we struggled to overcome a Blyth Spartans side who were themselves struggling to find form as Jordan Laidler’s solitary strike was enough to hand Blyth all 3 points.

09.01.16 - Northern League Challenge Cup 5th Round - Long Eaton United v Marine : 1-3 : Another poor performance from us not only made it 3 losses in a row for us but it also signaled our exit from the Northern League Challenge Cup, a cup which I thought we were more than capable of winning after last seasons defeat in the final. We couldn’t even score a goal ourselves as we relied on Marine scoring an own goal for us! Things need to change or we could find ourselves on the beginning of a slump.

13.01.16 - Northern Premier League - Long Eaton United v Nantwich Town : 5-2 : An overdue win for us which saw goals from Henry Jones, Charlie Sheringham and a Colin Daniel hat-trick secure a vital 3 points for us.

16.01.16 - Northern Premier League - Long Eaton United v Witton Albion : 0-0 : While we did well to limit Witton to a single long range shot which was off target, we couldn’t break the deadlock ourselves as in the end we had to settle for a point.

20.01.16 - Northern Premier League - Kendal Town v Long Eaton United : 1-1 : Kendal Town welcomed us to Parkside Road with them in recent fine form so it was a bit of a surprise when we took the lead through Charlie Sheringham’s 21st goal of the season. Kendal dominated for much of the game though so I suppose in the end they deserved their equalizer even if it was a bit of a kick in the teeth for us 2 minutes from time.

27.01.16 - Northern Premier League - Burscough v Long Eaton United : 1-3 : Another tough game for us saw us travel to Burscough who, like Kendal were on a decent run themselves as they sat 3rd in the league. Included in the squad for us was new signing Ryan Brobbel who’s joined us on a 6 month contract but it was a familiar face who put us into the lead as Charlie Sheringham struck his 22nd goal of the season on 12 minutes making him the clubs all time leading league goal scorer now on 32 league goals for the club. Colin Daniel doubled our tally with his 12th goal of the season 6 minutes later but Burscough pulled a goal back on half time leaving the game on a knife edge. The 2nd half saw chances for both sides to stake a claim on the game but it was us who got the decisive goal right on full time through Will Aimson’s 8th goal of the season to seal the points for us.

30.01.16 - Northern Premier League - Long Eaton United v Workington : 1-3 : After gaining a bit of momentum again and going undefeated in the last 4 games against teams who are in and around the top 6 of the league, we seemed to revert back to where we were at the start of the month as we failed to show up, more or less handing the win to Workington as they ran out easy 3-1 victors.

January League Table : A mixed month for us as 2 wins, 2 draws and 4 losses in all competitions make January a strange month for us. While those losses signal a drop in form and cup exits in both the FA Cup and Northern League Challenge Cup for us, we have in fact pulled further away from the chasing pack in the league as we sit 11 points clear with 11 games to go. Much of that is down to Charlie Sheringham who sits on 23 goals in all competitions but also our central defender and vice captain Will Aimson who’s chipped in with some important goals as his tally sits on 8 in all competitions for us.

Long Eaton United - February 2015/16

LEUFC.png

Long Eaton United

06.02.16 - Northern Premier League - Stalybridge Celtic v Long Eaton United : 0-0 : We started February off with one of just two games for us in February as we made the trip to Bower Fold. It was a game of little incident though as both us and Stalybridge cancelled each other out and the game ended 0-0.

24.02.16 - Northern Premier League - Long Eaton United v Marine : 1-2 : Our second and final game of February saw us welcome our Northern League Challenge Cup victors Marine to Grange Park and 3 minutes before the interval we took the lead as Charlie Sheringham hit his 24th goal of the season to put us 1-0 up. Once again though our poor recent form got the better of us as a 9 minute brace from Marine’s Andy Fowler proved to be decisive as they claimed the victory leaving us wondering how we lost the game.

February League Table : A poor month for us as we picked up just a point out of a possible 6 as our lead at the top has been cut from 11 points to just 6 points. With only 2 wins for us since the start of the year our form has taken a massive drop as the chasing pack are closing right in on us. With us having blown a big lead at the top of the table before, which cost us promotion a few years ago, we need to seriously pick our form up if we’re to avoid a repeat of that.

Long Eaton United - March 2015/16

LEUFC.png

Long Eaton United

05.03.16 - Northern Premier League - Colwyn Bay v Long Eaton United : 2-5 : After such a poor few months, this was the kind of fixture we needed; a game against rock bottom of the league Colwyn Bay who we battered 6-0 earlier in the season. Things didn’t go according to plan to start off with though as the home side took the lead leaving them to go in at half time leading 1-0. I ripped into the players during the interval and that seemed to have an effect as 2 minutes after the restart Cameron Brannagan equalized for us with his 9th goal of the season. Just a minute later though we were trailing again as David Martin put the home side back into the lead with a towering header from a corner but we responded well again a minute later as Adam Nditi put us back on level terms with his 3rd goal of the season. From there, we grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck as Charlie Sheringham grabbed a brace either side of Cameron Brannagan’s 2nd of the game as we eventually ran out comfortable 5-2 winners.

12.03.16 - Northern Premier League - Long Eaton United v Vauxhall Motors : 3-1 : Our mini revival continued as goals from David Moli, his 12th and 13th of the season and another goal from Charlie Sheringham were enough to hand all 3 points to us and get our season back on track.

19.03.16 - Northern Premier League - Buxton v Long Eaton United : 0-2 : A potential banana skin was avoided here as games against rivals Buxton are always difficult, especially at Silverlands so Jordan Brown’s 3rd goal of the season and David Moli’s 14th goal of the season were a relief when they went in.

26.03.16 - Northern Premier League - Long Eaton United v Warrington : 1-1 : Our final game of March saw us play out a 1-1 draw with Warrington as Cameron Brannagan’s 11th goal of the season was enough to take a point for us and guarantee us a play-off place at least.

March League Table : A much better month for us sees us extend our lead at the top of the table to 9 points with just 5 games left. Thanks to picking up 10 points this month out of a possible 12, we’ve guaranteed ourselves at least a play-off place at the end of the season so a chance of a 3rd consecutive promotion is still on the cards. We’re most definitely in the driving seat though and to be sitting top of the league, 9 points ahead with just 5 games left should be a position in which we defend to claim automatic promotion.

Long Eaton United - April 2015/16

LEUFC.png

Long Eaton United

02.04.16 - Northern Premier League - Long Eaton United v Newcastle Town : 4-1 : We entered the final month of our season looking to continue our recent decent form and we did as Damien Mozika picked a fine time to net his 1st goal for the club just before half time to put us 1-0 up. Charlie Sheringham extended our lead on 60 minutes with his 28th goal of the season before Newcastle Town pulled a goal back to make things a little nervy for us. Colin Daniel eased those nerves for us though 4 minutes later as his 13th goal of the season took the pressure off a little before Charlie Sheringham bagged his 2nd of the game as we comfortably won 4-1.

09.04.16 - Northern Premier League - Mickleover Sports v Long Eaton United : 2-4 : This game was all about one man as Charlie Sheringham took centre stage, netting an incredible 4 goals to take his tally for the season to 33 goals as we ran out easy 4-2 victors against local rivals Mickleover Sports.

19.04.16 - Northern Premier League - Long Eaton United v Whitby Town : 3-0 : We needed just a point against Whitby to clinch the title and thanks to a Charlie Sheringham brace and a 90th minute goal from Henry Jones, we took all 3 points to not only claim an unexpected title but also claim a place in the Blue Square North next season :).

23.04.16 - Northern Premier League - Long Eaton United v Mossley : 2-0 : With the promotion and the title all tied up now, there was no pressure on us and that showed as we comfortably controlled the match from start to finish with Will Aimson grabbing both of our goals to give us a 2-0 win.

30.04.16 - Northern Premier League - Blyth Spartans v Long Eaton United : 0-1 : Our final game of the season saw us shuffle a few players around as our starting eleven consisted of all club players as our loan stars sat on the bench. It was a loan player that struck the winning goal though as Colin Daniel came off the bench to hit the winner on 66 minutes to leave us sitting at the top of the table, winning the league eventually by a comfortable 16 points.

April League Table : April saw us finish the season winning all of our remaining games to leave us claiming the title by an impressive 16 points. We could’ve easily buckled under the pressure but we kept our nerve in the end with players like Will Aimson and Charlie Sheringham really leading by example as the latter hit an impressive 8 goals in April.

Long Eaton United - Season Review 2015/16

LEUFC.png

Long Eaton United

Northern Premier League/Northern Premier League progress : With nothing but a mid-table finish on our minds after 2 consecutive promotions, we surprised everyone, including ourselves as we lead the table for a lot of the season, culminating in a title win by 16 points! With no real gulf in class though between the last 3 divisions we’ve played in, the Blue Square North should provide more of a sterner test next season for us.

FA Cup : A quite incredible run in the FA Cup for us even if we did have the luck of the draw as we made it all the way to the 3rd round!

Northern League Challenge Cup : After last seasons defeat in the final of this competition, I was looking for us to go one better and win it this season but fellow Northern Premier League side Marine ended any hope of that as they disposed of us in the 5th round :(.

Transfers : Not the continuous revolving door for us this year as it has been in past years as now the club is semi-professional, we can offer contracts, meaning we can tie players down now. Still, 14 players came in over the course of the season, 7 of those on loans as 7 went the other way.

Squad : The spine of the squad didn’t change much from last season as we managed to tie a lot of players down to 2-3 year contracts so the only changes to the squad were the loan players that came in. But those loan players made a big difference as the quality they brought in helped us massively in claiming the title. One of the main reasons for our title win though was Charlie Sheringham as he built on last seasons goal tally of 21 goals in all competitions to net 35 goals in all competitions for us this season. Our two other strikers chipped in with goals too as Colin Daniel and David Moli bagged 27 goals between while Cameron Brannagan helped set a lot of them up as he broke the clubs assist record with 21 assists.

Finances : Not good as we sit £550k in the red and continue to lose money. With this news though and the fact that we’ll be ground sharing for a while, I’m hoping we can start to make a bit of money now.

My views of the season… : A fantastic season for us culminating in an unexpected promotion!

My aims for next season… : The jump in quality from tiers 10, 9, 8 and 7 to tier 6 (Blue Square North) isn’t massive but it’s a jump in quality nevertheless. While obviously my main aim will be to avoid relegation, I don’t think that’ll be a problem and a mid-table to a push for the play-offs should be a realistic aim.

Career Summary

Wow - sharing at the Cİty Ground?!? Hopefully, it will see increased matchday revenue.

Btw, how are Rocester FC doing in your save? They are the team I would manage if I did a save like this.

I was just as surprised at sharing with Forest. It'll be strange seeing our 28 season ticket holders plus our average 100 fans a game sat in a 30,000 all seater stadium. I'd of preferred Mansfield or even Notts.

As for Rocester, they've been languishing in the Midland Football alliance the past few years finishing no higher than 8th. We also knocked them out of the Northern League Challenge Cup last season! :D

Awesome, you'll be able to sit in your seat hahaha :D.

With our 150 fans, ha ha. I wonder if managing from the Trent End has been done before? :D

Well done in a 3rd title (well, you know what I mean) in a row
Great work fella. Playing at the City Ground would rule me out of watching my local team though!

Cheers guys :D

...What's wrong with the world famous City Ground though withnail ;) What a place to play your football!

Long Eaton United - Pre-Season 2016/17

LEUFC.png

Long Eaton United

League expectation

-------------------------

Blue Square North : Board expectation - Stay clear of relegation : Media expectation - 20th (out of 22)

Cup expectations

---------------------

FA Cup : 4th Qualifying round

FA Trophy : 1st round

Transfer budget : £0k

Wage budget : £4.79 p/w

Current wage bill : £5.33 p/w

Season tickets sold : 98

My views for the season ahead… : With 3 straight promotions under our belt, the ceiling is starting to close in on us as we reach a league with a bit more quality in it. Still, although the board are wanting us to stay clear of relegation and the media are predicting us to finish 20th, with the quality we have in the squad I feel that relegation is not even a worry for us as we should be looking for a mid-table finish, if not a sneaky push for a play-off place. To help us try and achieve that, during the summer I’ve brought in 4 players which include 2 players on loan (and 3 youth players on youth contracts) as I managed to persuade Henry Jones to join us on a free transfer from Crewe after spending last season on loan with us with Phillip Lowry joining us also on a free after his contract at Fleetwood Town expired. James Ashton joins us on a season long loan from Accrington Stanley while Moses Odubajo also joins us on a season long loan from Leyton Orient. Freddie Peel, Gari Sephton and Gavin Anderton also join us on youth contracts just to boost our numbers in the reserve team.

Long Eaton United - July 2016/17

LEUFC.png

Long Eaton United

16.07.16 - Friendly - Long Eaton United v Gedling Miners Welfare : 2-1 : We started our pre-season off with a run out against local side Gedling as we managed to give everyone a game and get their legs stretched out after the summer break. Goals from new signing Phillip Lowry and Sean Mullan were enough to give us the win as Gedling’s 90th minute goal proved to be nothing more than a consolation.

23.07.16 - Friendly - Long Eaton United v Basford United : 3-1 : Another run out against local opposition which saw goals from Will Aimson, David Moli and a 2nd in 2 games from new signing Phillip Lowry handed us the win. The only downside to the game was the injury Rob Holding picked up which will leave him out for 2-3 weeks.

30.07.16 - Friendly - Long Eaton United v South Normanton Athletic : 2-0 : Our 3rd and final pre-season game saw us control much of it against another local side South Normanton Athletic with goals from Adam Nditi and Charlie Sheringham rounding off a decent pre-season for us, albeit against lower opposition.

Long Eaton United - August 2016/17

LEUFC.png

Long Eaton United

06.08.16 - Blue Square North - Long Eaton United v Kettering Town : 1-1 : Our season started off with a bumper crowd of 421 at The City Ground who witnessed David Moli putting us into an early lead against Kettering Town after just 13 minutes. The away side fought back well though and grabbed an equalizer 8 minutes after the restart to claim what can be looked upon as a fair result in the end.

09.08.16 - Blue Square North - Hyde FC v Long Eaton United : 0-2 : Despite giving the majority of possession to the home side, which you’d normally expect from the away side, we dominated other aspects of the game as we reigned shot after shot on Ashley Frith’s goal. With so many shots heading towards Hyde’s goal, it was no surprise when one of them went in as Charlie Sheringham opened his account for the season on 21 minutes to put us 1-0 up. 10 minutes later and we were 2-0 up as Sean Mullan netted his 1st of the season leaving us to claim our 1st win of the season.

13.08.16 - Blue Square North - Long Eaton United v Tamworth : 2-1 : A tight affair saw Sean Mullan grab his 2nd goal of the season a minute after half time to put us 1-0 up but Tamworth replied 17 minutes later as Simon Johnson capitalized on some poor defending from us. New signing Phillip Lowry though, showed his quality as he hit a rasping 25 yarder which flew into the corner of the net on 74 minutes, handing us all 3 points.

20.08.16 - Blue Square North - Droylsden v Long Eaton United : 2-1 : Another tight game saw it centre more around referee R Joyce than the actual game as he awarded the home side an extremely dubious penalty kick a minute before half time which both myself and my players were incredulous about! Despite our protestations, the ref stuck by his decision as Marlon Salter netted the resulting penalty kick. We responded well though as Sean Mullan hit his 3rd goal in as many games to put us back on level terms but we couldn’t hang on as more poor refereeing saw Duane Holmes net the winner which had more than a hint of offside about it! A loss is never easy to take especially when decisions go against you but there was some slight consolation for us when I complained about the referee and the FA remained silent about it.

27.08.16 - Blue Square North - Histon v Long Eaton United : 0-2 : I was relieved when I saw the ref wasn’t R Joyce so that was immediately a good start for us. Things got better for us as we were awarded a penalty, a little soft I have to say but we had it rough last time out so we deserved a bit of luck. Charlie Sheringham netted the resulting kick for us as Cameron Brannagan rounded off the win for us in a game that we comfortably controlled.

30.08.16 - Blue Square North - Long Eaton United v Brackley Town : 4-0 : We finished the month off in style as we trounced Brackley 4-0 thanks to goals from Sean Mullan, Adam Nditi, Charlie Sheringham and David Moli to leave us sitting at the right end of the table at the end of August.

August League Table : I couldn’t of asked for a better start to life in the Blue Square North as 4 wins, a draw and a loss leaves us sitting in 2nd place, 5 points behind early pace setters Boston. I don’t know what’s more surprising, the start we’ve made in the league or the fact that Sean Mullan leads our scoring charts with 4 goals in 6 games. While he always had potential, I or my coaches never really rated him, hence him still being on an amateur contract. If he continues like this though, I may have to think about offering him a contract before he gets snapped up.

Long Eaton United - September 2016/17

LEUFC.png

Long Eaton United

10.09.16 - Blue Square North - Hitchin Town v Long Eaton United : 1-1 : September saw us kick things off with a visit to Hitchin Town but things didn’t start well for us as we were on the back foot for a lot of the 1st half which saw the home side eventually take the lead a minute into 1st half stoppage time to take them in at the break 1-0 up. The 2nd half didn’t start that great for us either as 6 minutes into it, Hitchin were awarded a penalty; Ian McLoughlin made a fantastic save though which served to be our wake up call as we started to get back into the match with Cameron Brannagan bagging the equalizer 13 minutes from time to give us a share of the spoils at full time.

14.09.16 - Blue Square North - Long Eaton United v Altrincham : 3-1 : A fairly even game between both ourselves and Altrincham but in the end it was our clinical finishing that proved to be the decider as Phillip Lowry hit his 2nd goal of the season and Charlie Sheringham bagged a brace, his 4th and 5th of the season to give us all 3 points.

17.09.16 - FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round - Long Eaton United v Gresley FC : 3-0 : We started this years FA Cup journey at home to neighbours Gresley in a game which saw us completely dominate from the 1st minute to last minute, with Gresley even failing to register a single shot on goal, as a Sean Mullan hat trick sends us through to the next round where we meet Retford.

24.09.16 - Blue Square North - Bradford Park Avenue v Long Eaton United : 2-1 : We looked to have things in control in this game as Charlie Sheringham’s 6th goal of the season on 39 minutes looked as if it would be enough but a crazy couples of minutes from us right at the death saw us allow Bradford Park Avenue back into the game as they struck in the 90th and 91st minute to snatch all 3 points.

28.09.16 - Blue Square North - Long Eaton United v Worksop Town : 1-1 : We finished the month off with a lackadaisical display which saw us register just one shot on target, Charlie Sheringham’s strike that went in and throw away another lead as we allowed Worksop to get back into the game and claim a point in the end.

September League Table : 2 wins, 2 draws and a loss ensures that our season continues well as we sit 5th in the league and into the 3rd Qualifying round of the FA Cup. Sean Mullan and Charlie Sheringham are finding the net fairly consistently as they both have 7 goals a piece so far while Cameron Brannagan continues to be our creative spark as he has 7 assists already. We’re still losing money though and with our finances looking increasingly worse and with the board claiming that they’re looking to make some money through player sales, I’ve had to slash the clubs wage bill as 5 players left this month, 4 reserve players and Karl Moore (all on free’s) who was one of higher earners. Just £100 over my wage budget now :).

It's a tough league to get out of, but you're certainly at the races already

Thanks AK. It is indeed! Struggling to find some form at the minute but considering our rapid rise through 3 divisions, the ceiling was going to come sooner or later.

Most clubs still bleed money at the BSN level. Hopefully a playoff push or automatic promotion will keep you going up to leagues with better financial management :)

Thanks. Had a couple of decent FA Cup rounds this season and last in which we were on TV which has helped a little financially but we're still losing money. It's always difficult at this level though.

Long Eaton United

01.10.16 - FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round - Retford United v Long Eaton United : 0-1 : We ensured our passage to the 4th Qualifying round by easily disposing of Retford thanks to David Moli’s 3rd goal of the season on the half hour mark.

11.10.16 - Blue Square North - St. Neots Town v Long Eaton United : 2-0 : I had immediate doubts about this game when I realized R Joyce was refereeing it after his last performance robbed us of points; and it seemed as if my initial feelings were right as the referee once again played a massive part in the game as St. Neots Jon Wallis blatantly elbowed Adam Nditi in the face, yet R Joyce decided to ‘lecture’ Wallis instead of doing what he should of…sent him off! This incident clearly angered us and effected our game as the resulting hour of football saw us fail to play the football we can as the home side capitalized on our annoyance as they ran out eventual winners. Needless to say, R Joyce is most definitely off my Christmas card list!

15.10.16 - FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round - Port Vale v Long Eaton United : 1-2 : We put the incident of last game out of our minds as our attention turned to the FA Cup where we met Blue Square Premier side Port Vale. Within 12 minutes though we were, as expected, 1-0 down as Jordan Gray rose from a corner to nod the ball into our net. But the lads showed great desire and determination to pull a goal back through David Moli’s 4th goal of the season with our winning goal coming 12 minutes later thanks to Charlie Sheringham’s 8th goal of the season, ensuring that we’re in the hat for the 1st round proper.

19.10.16 - Blue Square North - Long Eaton United v AFC Flyde : 0-0 : A drab affair which saw neither team create much as we grinded out a boring 0-0 draw leaving us with no win in 4 league games.

22.10.16 - Blue Square North - AFC Telford v Long Eaton United : 1-0 : With no league win in 4 games now, one of the last teams we wanted to face were high flying AFC Telford. We struggled to break them down and create anything of any real note so it came as no surprise when they eventually grabbed a winner 20 minutes from time, consigning us to 5 games without a league win.

29.10.16 - FA Cup 1st Round - Long Eaton United v Shrewsbury Town : 3-0 : We had a chance to forget about our poor league form as the FA Cup took centre stage and after surprisingly disposing of Blue Square Premier side Port Vale in the last round, we went one better as we unbelievably dumped League Two side Shrewbury Town out of the cup with a smash and grab as they dominated for large periods of time.

October League Table : Not a great month for us after such a fantastic month before as we failed to win a single league game, extending our run to 5 league games without a win. We did however have success in the cups as we disposed of Retford United, Port Vale and Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup to set us up with a 2nd round tie with League One side Southend United.
