Great to see this career is still going - and nice move back to the midlands. :)

The question is... if Long Eaton get promoted and are looking for a new manager, would you go back?

Ooh...tough question DodgeeD...I'm not sure. Depends if they'd take me back! :D

Aston Villa - September 2032/33

Villa_zpsd4088dc9.png

Aston Villa

11.09.32 - Barclays Premier League - Southampton v Aston Villa : 2-3 : September began with a win against a very strong Southampton side thanks to the ageing yet ever impressing David Radford who netted his first hat trick for us. He may be 33 years old but I bet Chelsea are regretting letting him leave on a free now.

21.09.32 - League Cup 3rd Round - West Ham United v Aston Villa : 0-0 (5-3 pens) : West Ham are an ever improving side on this save and finished 3rd last season and 4th the season before so we knew we were in for a tough game in our 3rd round tie. We managed to keep them at bay for 120 minutes but unfortunately we couldn’t hold our nerve as Didier Toure missed the only penalty of the shootout meaning that it was West Ham who progress.

26.09.32 - Barclays Premier League - Aston Villa v Manchester City : 0-2 : Some things have changed on this save…and some haven’t…Man City are still a force to be reckoned with in both England and Europe and they showed that as they easily disposed of us thanks to goals from James Ekwueme and Antonio Petkovic.

September League Table : A win and a loss this month in the league sees us drop to 7th in the league but nevertheless it’s an encouraging start for us. An early exit in the League Cup was a little bit of a disappointment as the board wanted to us to reach the 4th round but the board understood our exit considering it was against a strong West Ham side.

Aston Villa - October 2032/33

Villa_zpsd4088dc9.png

Aston Villa

02.10.32 - Barclays Premier League - Aston Villa v Chelsea : 0-1 : We expected a tough game when Chelsea made the visit to Villa Park but surprisingly we dominated most of the game. Unfortunately though, Chelsea’s quality shone through in the end as a solitary David Kalonji strike was enough for the Londoners to take back to The Bridge.

16.10.32 - Barclays Premier League - Aston Villa v Huddersfield Town : 2-1 : Struggling Huddersfield Town gave us a tougher game than we were expecting but thanks to a goal a piece from our front two strikers, that was enough to give us all 3 points.

24.10.32 - Barclays Premier League - Tottenham Hotspur v Aston Villa : 2-0 : Spurs showed their quality and superiority over us in this game as they totally dominated us and deserved their win.

30.10.32 - Barclays Premier League - Queens Park Rangers v Aston Villa : 0-2 : Our 2nd trip to the capital in a week saw us take on QPR in a game which saw us both play out a fairly even game. Luckily for us though, QPR’s strikers were off target as despite having 10 attempts on goal, none of them were on target as our captain Matt McKay grabbed a brace to secure all 3 points for us.

October League Table : 2 wins and 2 losses saw us remain 7th in the league while the top 4 open up a little gap. What’s more surprising is Liverpool and Arsenal struggling at the foot of the table, more notably Arsenal as they’re already 6 points adrift in the relegation zone!

very unlucky against Chelsea, Villa had so much of the game as well!

I know...how we didn't get at least a point I'll never know! But then again, we've had games where we've been battered and sneaked the win/draw so I suppose it's swings and roundabouts :D

Aston Villa - November 2032/33

Villa_zpsd4088dc9.png

Aston Villa

06.11.32 - Barclays Premier League - Norwich City v Aston Villa : 1-2 : Two early goals from Simone Bonaldi and Lewis Kelly were enough to give us all of the points despite a Gidi Eizenberg reply midway into the first half.

13.11.32 - Barclays Premier League - West Ham United v Aston Villa : 1-2 : We made the very difficult trip to The Boleyn Ground as we faced an excellent West Ham side. As expected, we got battered as The Hammers peppered our goal with shot after shot but it was us who took the lead through Lewis Kelly on 13 minutes. West Ham got a rollocking as expected at half time as they came out in the 2nd half and almost instantly got the equalizer. But we replied a minute later through Lewis Kelly again as we managed to hang on to the win despite West Ham having 38 shots and 24 shots on goal !

20.11.32 - Barclays Premier League - Aston Villa v Nottingham Forest : 0-0 : My first meeting with my previous club and boyhood team ended in stalemate as neither team could break the deadlock meaning we had to share the points.

24.11.32 - Barclays Premier League - Aston Villa v Swansea City : 3-3 : If our previous game was a dull affair, this game was far from it as we shared 6 goals with Swansea! We took the lead 3 times through Lewis Kelly but each time the Welsh team responded, to in the end, take a point back with them to South Wales.

28.11.32 - Barclays Premier League - Manchester United v Aston Villa : 3-2 : Man United ended our fine recent run as at one stage they went 3-0 up and it looked as if a rout was on the cards for us. We made a few changes though in the 2nd half and the team responded well to pull 2 goals back and make the score line a little more respectable.

November League Table : 2 wins, 2 draws and a loss sees us climb a place as we sit 6th in the table at the end of November. The squad is settling down well as the season gets into full swing now as our 2 strikers seem to be forming a good partnership with David Radford netting 7 goals so far this season and Lewis Kelly already into double figures as he’s scored 12. Liverpool and Arsenal are still struggling in the league although Arsenal have closed the gap a little.

A respectable start. I think you're getting the results you expect so far.

I think so too. Everyone's expecting a mid-table position this season and if I'm honest, that's all I'm expecting too especially considering that it's my first season at Villa and we don't have the greatest squad.

Aston Villa - December 2032/33

Villa_zpsd4088dc9.png

Aston Villa

04.12.32 - Barclays Premier League - Aston Villa v Everton : 1-1 : An early strike from Eduardo gave us a great start but The Toffees got themselves back into it thanks to Slavisa Dujkovic as the game ended 1-1.

11.12.32 - Barclays Premier League - Fulham v Aston Villa : 2-3 : We got off to a poor start against struggling Fulham as they took a 9th minute lead but we responded eventually as we got ourselves back into the match thanks to our captain Matt McKay as he stepped up just before half time to level things up going into the interval. The 2nd half was as nervy as the 1st until 12 minutes from time when Juan Carlos looked to have won it for The Cottagers. Marian Zajac equalized for us 3 minutes later though before an own goal from Fulham gifted us an unlikely win!

18.12.32 - Barclays Premier League - Aston Villa v Arsenal : 1-1 : Even though Arsenal are struggling they’re still a very good side and that was proven as they almost beat us with just 10 men! Thankfully for us though, substitute Didier Toure came on and grabbed a late equalizer a minute from time!

21.12.32 - Barclays Premier League - Bristol City v Aston Villa : 2-3 : We strolled into a 3-0 lead and looked very comfortable against strugglers Bristol City but for some reason we took our foot off the gas and let the home side back into the game as they replied twice to give us a nervy last 13 minutes. Thankfully we managed to hold on to the win though as we picked up our 8th league win of the season.

26.12.32 - Barclays Premier League - Aston Villa v Newcastle United : 2-1 : Boxing day saw nearly 31,000 packed into Villa Park as we were awarded an early penalty after Marian Zajac was brought down in the box. He dusted himself down to step up to take the resulting penalty kick but his nerves got the better of him as he blazed it over the bar. Just 5 minutes later though saw Eduardo put us into the lead as he struck a sweet volley into the net from 12 yards out. Our lead didn’t last long as the Geordies replied through Liam Allison but this seemed to kick start us into life as we imposed ourselves onto the game and got a deserved winner thanks to Matt McKay’s 69th minute strike.

29.12.32 - Barclays Premier League - Blackburn Rovers v Aston Villa : 1-1 : We should’ve taken all 3 points against a struggling Blackburn side who were rooted to the bottom of the table but in the end we had to settle for a point.

December League Table : The end of December sees us stay 6th in the league as we open up a 4 point lead on Forest in 7th with a game in hand. Liverpool and Arsenal have picked up as they both climb out of the relegation zone while the top 4 drop points to let 5th place Spurs close the gap on them.

Aston Villa - January 2032/33

Villa_zpsd4088dc9.png

Aston Villa

12.01.33 - FA Cup 3rd Round - Stoke City v Aston Villa : 2-2 : We flew into a 2-0 lead but again, like we have done quite often this season, we surrendered that lead to let Stoke back into it as they grabbed a 2-2 draw to take the tie to a replay in 7 days time.

16.01.33 - Barclays Premier League - Manchester City v Aston Villa : 1-1 : Probably our toughest game of the season as we made the trip to The Etihad and that proved to be the case as Man City battered us. So, how we managed to get away from Manchester with a point is a mystery to me but I’ll take it! :D

19.01.33 - FA Cup 3rd Round replay - Aston Villa v Stoke City : 2-1 : 7 days earlier saw us and Stoke play out a draw and it looked as if this game would be heading for a draw too after Muquifo’s goal cancelled out David Radford’s 59th penalty. But thanks to Simone Bonaldi’s 82nd minute strike, we find ourselves into the hat for the 4th round.

22.01.33 - FA Cup 4th Round - Sheffield Wednesday v Aston Villa : 0-0 : Our reward for defeating Stoke in the last round was a trip to Hillsborough which saw us and Sheffield Wednesday play out a dull 0-0 draw…Another replay for us.

29.01.33 - Barclays Premier League - Aston Villa v Liverpool : 3-2 : We played Liverpool at probably the best time as they’ve been struggling all season and have been very inconsistent so when we went 2-0 up after 50 minutes we could be excused for thinking that the points were in the bag. The away side pulled a goal back though to cause some nerves amongst our players but thanks to Lewis Kelly’s 3rd goal of the game that eased our nerves a little…for a minute at least as Liverpool replied almost immediately meaning that we had to hang on for the last 13 minutes. Luckily we managed to hang on as we took all 3 points from the Scousers :D.

January League Table : A decent month for us in the league keeps us 6th in the league with plenty of games in hand. We did well in the FA Cup too as we disposed of Stoke City, albeit with the use of a reply and have a replay against Sheffield Wednesday in the 4th round.

Aston Villa - February 2032/33

Villa_zpsd4088dc9.png

Aston Villa

05.02.33 - Barclays Premier League - Aston Villa v Tottenaham Hotspur : 1-1 : Spurs have been playing well all season and easily disposed of us earlier in the season so to claim a 1-1 draw even though we were at home has to be seen as a point gained.

09.02.33 - FA Cup 4th Round replay - Aston Villa v Sheffield Wednesday : 3-0 : Championship side Sheffield Wednesday held us to 0-0 draw in our first meeting last month but there was no mistake this time around as goals from Joseph Downey, Ian Little and Lewis Kelly ensured that we were into the next round.

12.02.33 - FA Cup 5th Round - Aston Villa v Chelsea : 0-1 : Having beaten Sheffield Wednesday in the last round we were drawn against Chelsea so there wasn’t much optimism about progressing to the next round…and that was proven to be true as they disposed of us and sent us crashing out of the FA Cup.

16.02.33 - Barclays Premier League - Chelsea v Aston Villa : 2-0 : 4 days earlier saw Chelsea send us packing in the FA Cup…this time in the league was no different as they hammered us and deserved their 2-0 win.

22.02.33 - Barclays Premier League - Aston Villa v Queens Park Rangers : 0-0 : No dis-respect to QPR but we should be beating teams like them, especially at home so to only manage a goal less draw was something that we shouldn’t be doing.

27.02.33 - Barclays Premier League - Huddersfield Town v Aston Villa : 2-3 : We made hard work of beating another struggling team in the league as we just managed to beat them even though, looking at the game, we probably didn’t deserve to.

February League Table : A win, a loss and 2 draws sees us drop to 7th in the table although we do have 3 games in hand on the majority of teams. As for the cup, we were never going to win it so when Chelsea knocked us out in the 5th round, it came as no real surprise.

The three games in hand keep you in touch with the European places, KUTGW mate :)
Good luck for the rest of the season - turn some of those wins into draws and you'll be in the hunt for a European place
I reckon you should be able to grab a European place.

Thanks fellas . Yeah, hopefully we can take advantage of our games in hand and grab a European spot. Still 12 games to go though

Aston Villa - March 2032/33

Villa_zpsd4088dc9.png

Aston Villa

02.03.33 - Barclays Premier League - Aston Villa v Southampton : 2-1 : Veteran David Radford put us into an early lead after just 15 minutes with a cheeky little lob and then doubled both his and our tally 17 minutes later with an almost carbon copy of his first goal to leave us going in at half time 2-0 up over a very good Saints side. As expected though, Southampton came out reinvigorated in the second half and pulled a goal back just after the hour mark through Josef Dobes. They continued to dominate the second half but we managed to hold on to eventually and deservedly claim all 3 points.

09.03.33 - Barclays Premier League - Charlton Athletic v Aston Villa : 0-2 : As I mentioned before, Charlton have had quite a surge up the leagues these past few years thanks to a tycoon takeover but since the tycoons departure earlier this season, they’ve somewhat stagnated as we easily disposed of them thanks to a Marian Zajac brace.

12.03.33 - Barclays Premier League - Aston Villa v Norwich City : 3-2 : We came back from a goal behind twice in this game and then nicked the win with just 6 minutes remaining to claim our 3rd straight win.

26.03.33 - Barclays Premier League - Nottingham Forest v Aston Villa : 1-1 : My first visit back to The City Ground since I left just over 6 years ago didn’t get off to the best of starts as we found ourselves 1-0 down after 28 minutes but we plugged away and got an equalizer, probably undeservedly so, as we left Nottingham with a very valuable point.

March League Table : 3 straight wins and a draw sees us climb back up to 6th in the table as we nearly catch up on our games in hand. Even though we won 3 out 4 games this month, probably our best result was the draw away at Forest as they’re hot on our tail so to deny them the chance of closing the gap on us was very pleasing.

Aston Villa - April 2032/33

Villa_zpsd4088dc9.png

Aston Villa

02.04.33 - Barclays Premier League - Swansea City v Aston Villa : 0-1 : We were surprisingly lackluster in this game as Swansea dominated us for virtually the full 90 minutes but somehow we managed to sneak the win and leave South Wales feeling like we robbed The Swans…I don’t mind though :D

10.04.33 - Barclays Premier League - Aston Villa v West Ham United : 1-2 : Despite the close score line we were actually battered in this game as a very strong West Ham side, who have title ambitions of their own, were probably unlucky to only win 2-1 as they ended our 7 game undefeated streak.

16.04.33 - Barclays Premier League - Aston Villa v Manchester United : 1-2 : From one title chasing team to another as Man Utd made the journey to Villa Park looking to continue their quest for the title as again we were battered. Again though, despite the domination from United in this game we managed to keep the score respectable as at this late stage of the season, goal difference could come into it at the end.

20.04.33 - Barclays Premier League - Liverpool v Aston Villa : 1-1 : Our run of tough fixtures continued as we made the trip to Anfield and although Liverpool have been struggling all season, Anfield is never an easy place to go to so to pick up a point is pleasing but more importantly it stops the recent run of defeats we’ve been suffering.

23.04.33 - Barclays Premier League - Everton v Aston Villa : 0-1 : We stayed in Merseyside as just 3 days after facing Liverpool, we faced their city rivals Everton. As expected, it was a tight and nervy affair but thankfully it was us who grabbed the all important decisive goal thanks to Eduardo’s late break away goal.

30.04.33 - Barclays Premier League - Fulham v Aston Villa : 2-2 : We seemed to take an age to get going in this game as strugglers Fulham raced into a 2-0 lead but we managed to fight back to claim what would have been seen as a disappointing draw but in the end was a good one considering we fell 2 goals behind.

April League Table : A tough month for us sees us claim 8 points from a possible 18 but considering the teams we played, it’s not been disastrous. With just 2 games remaining though it’s going to be close as to whether we can grab a European place or not. 6th and 7th place usually get those places but that depends on who wins the cups and with Swansea already winning the League Cup that just leaves 6th place with a European spot. With Liverpool facing Manchester City in the FA Cup Final though and should they win, it’ll be them who claim that European spot, not us in 6th so we have to hope Chelsea slip up and we win our remaining 2 games so we can nick that 5th place finish.

Aston Villa - May 2032/33

Villa_zpsd4088dc9.png

Aston Villa

08.05.33 - Barclays Premier League - Aston Villa v Bristol City : 2-0 : We easily disposed of Bristol City who have been struggling all season in and around the relegation places and with Liverpool beating Manchester City yesterday in the FA Cup Final, it means that they claim a European spot and that 5th place is the last remaining European place. We needed Chelsea to lose but they won their game which means we have to beat Arsenal at The Emirates on the last day and hope that Chelsea slip up against Newcastle.

15.05.33 - Barclays Premier League - Arsenal v Aston Villa : 1-0 : It was always going to be a difficult task to beat Arsenal at The Emirates even though they’ve been struggling all season but what made it even more disappointing was that Newcastle did us a favour and beat Chelsea :(.

May League Table : We finished the season by beating Bristol City but losing to Arsenal which leaves us finishing 6th in the league. Usually this would merit a spot in Europe next season but because the League and FA Cup were won by Swansea and Liverpool it means that it’s them who claim a European spot and Chelsea claim the final European spot by finishing 5th. A little disappointing to finish the season that way but I’ve got to be more than happy with our overall season especially considering that it’s my first season in charge at Villa and we were expected to finish mid table.

Aston Villa - Season Review 2032/33

Villa_zpsd4088dc9.png

Aston Villa

Barclays Premier League/Barclays Premier League progress : A great debut season for me at the Villa considering that everyone expected nothing from us. Usually finishing 6th would be enough to qualify for Europe but as Swansea and Liverpool won the League and FA Cup it means that we miss out on European qualification.

FA Cup : We didn’t have a bad run in the FA Cup as Chelsea ended our hopes of progressing any further.

League Cup : Out in the 3rd round as West Ham beat us on penalties.

Transfers : Quite a bit of activity for us as we signed 7 players with the majority of the money being spent on Matt McKay (who I had at Leeds and Northern Ireland) and Ian Little.

Squad : The squad did incredibly well considering the players that we have and proved everyone wrong that they were just mid table make weights. A few players had good seasons but probably most notably it was our front 2 strikers Lewis Kelly and David Radford that stood out as they netted 32 goals between them.

Finances : We made a profit of nearly £4 million yet still find ourselves £3 million in debt. With the TV money coming in at the start of next season though it should easily put us back into the black.

My views of the season… : I can’t be anything but happy with the season we’ve had despite finising 6th and not qualifying for Europe.

My aims for next season… : We might have overachieved this season but people will be expecting us to be pushing for a European place so a top 7 finish is my aim.

Former club watch

Long Eaton United : Finished 12th in the Championship 10 points off the play-offs.

Burton Albion : Finished 3rd in League One and beat Walsall in the play-off final to reach the Championship next season :D.

Leeds United : Finished 4th in the Championship but lost to Northampton Town in the play-off semi final.

Nottingham Forest : Finished 7th in the Premier League finishing 3 points behind us.

Celtic : Finished runners-up to Dundee United in the SPL as they trailed them by 13 points. That’s 2 seasons without a league title for them now.

Northern Ireland : Currently sit 3rd in their World Cup Qualifying Group, 4 points behind group leaders Israel while also dropping to ranked 8th in the world.

Sucks you missed out on Europe, but still lots of positives to think about. Just maintain similar performance next season and you will be fine.
Unlucky to miss out on Europe there but 6th is no mean feat, KUTGW mate!

Cheers guys...although I've ran in to a problem...:(

A good debut at Villa but that doesn't look good.
Have you tried this?

https://support.sega.co.uk/entries/22150126-Football-Manager-2013-XML-Parsing-Error

I had a similar problem a few months back and that solved it.

Cheers guys...have tried that CFuller but to no avail :(. Looks like it's time to call it a day on this save. I suppose it's a good excuse to start playing FM14 though :)

It will be a shame if the save ends like that. I'd try posting on the FM13 bugs forum, or looking online for other solutions to your problem, but it looks as if there's not much else you could do.

Nope, nothing more I can do :(.

Oh no Raware. :(

The influx of Asian careers would probably get you some itchy feet about an FM14 save, but would have been great to see you keep playing this one too.

Thanks rancer. Yours and ashtons Asian saves are giving me very itchy feet for a FM14 save...in fact one is loading up now :D :D :D :D

Bummer Raware.

Indeed Nobby. Thanks for following

I suppose now is a good time for this thread to be closed seeing as the save is now dead :(. Feel free for a mod to close it :(.
