So close, yet so far. The month kicked off with a tricky performance against Mallorca. Despite taking the lead and dominating the entire match we conceded with just 5 minutes remaining as our prospects for Champions League football looked bleak, but we found the strength to add a second goal to claim the win. We followed this up with a solid win on our travels before coming from a goal down to beat Rayo Vallecano. We went into the final day level on points with Bilbao, needing to better their result to have any hope of finishing fourth but there was never a chance as Bilbao breezed to a 3-0 win. We did however put an excellent performance in at the Nou Camp. Despite falling behind we battled on and leveled things from the penalty spot to earn a very good point.

SRL88's Career - Season Review - 2026/27 - Getafe CF

Liga BBVA

Results 1 - Results 2

Final League Position: 5th

Despite missing out on Champions League football on the final day of the season, this was an excellent campaign for the club. Tipped for relegation at the start of the season and in Europe come the end of it.

Copa del Rey

Competition Performance: Knocked out in Semi-Final

A very nice performance in the Copa del Rey for us. We had a very nice run which was ended by a very good Real Madrid side.

Squad

A very thin squad which makes our achievements this season even better. We never ever had a squad with more players in it than shown so we were very lucky in regards to injuries and suspensions.

Transfers - Finances

The transfers show the usual overhaul I make, but they were needed.

The club is actually really struggling financially and are paying off a £20m debt they simply can't afford.

My Top 3 Players

Osmar Huth - By far the clubs top scorer this season. Captain, club legend. Just got better and better as the season went on.

Juan Ramon - His importance to the side didn't stand out to me immediately, but as the season went on, and the odd times he was missing his importance showed more and more. Such a good player.

Paul Pogba - His final season as player and put an excellent shift in all season long.

A very poor campaign, but considering they occupied a relegation spot nearly the entire the season they did well to claw their way out.

SRL88's Career - Real Madrid

Getting Started

StevenLongstaff_NewsInbox_zps3d180fd2.png

StevenLongstaff_NewsInbox-2_zps20bfc196.png

Well the jist of this is that when Real Madrid come knocking you just don't say no. I made a name for myself worldwide at Napoli and decided to test myself by dropping down. Things didn't work out well for me in Portugal due to my relationship with the Chairman and after a year I joined Getafe. I had a productive season with Getafe which obviously didn't go unnoticed and following the retirement of Jose Mourinho, the club obviously feel I am their man.

This is the first time I have moved from one club to another in the same country since my switch from Northampton to Birmingham and the challenge of tussling with Barcelona as well as the contest of being back in the elite league of European football is something I am really looking forward to.

Name: Real Madrid CF

Nickname: Los Merengues

Founded: 1902

Stadium: Santiago Bernabeu (95,000 all-seater)

Status: Professional

Was a good season with Getafe, disappointed you went to Real Madrid, thought you would at least give yourself a challenge :D

Once in a lifetime opportunity :D.

Good luck with Real mate, I'm sure you'll be an instant success. How much strengthening does their squad need do you think?

Cheers dude.

Honestly, it doesn't need much work in terms of player ability, but there are a heck of a lot of players approaching 30 who are on near £200k a week. I would rather try and get the average age of the squad down and also the wage bill if at all possible. It is all about finding value for money and that is difficult when you are in charge of a massive club.

I too wish you luck at Real

Cheers fella.

Good luck at real

Cheers dude.

great move, time to build a dynasty? :)

Maybe the new Galactico's?

Wow Real Madrid, best of luck there. That wage and transfer budget :D, interesting that Leverkusen offered you more money though.

Cheers dude.

The Leverkusen offer was very interesting indeed. I suspect they wanted me more :p.

SRL88's Career - Season Preview - 2027/28 - Real Madrid

Board Expectations:

Liga BBVA: Win it

Champions League: Reach the Semi-Final

Copa del Rey: Not Important

Supercopa: Not Important

My Expectations:

Liga BBVA: I can understand the expectation to win it, but Barcelona won't be easy to topple. I suspect it will be tight between the two of us

Champions League: Semi-Final seems fair

Copa del Rey: I don't want to heavily rely on us winning other competitions, so this could be a nice place to claim my first major trophy

Supercopa: Against Barcelona, I have to win it really

Budgets:

Transfer: £190m

Wage: £3,504,990 (Currently spending £2,497,317)

Balance: £211,737,748

Nice TB. Will you go on a spending spree?
Of course he will!

I have spent big on one player and it is a risk and one for the future, but I am going to play him now. Other than that, I have been pretty sensible so far.

Good luck dude, don't forget to add the La Liga title in the competitions thread when you win it!

Haha I will try not to :p.

Good luck with Real. Shouldn't take you long to start winning things

Cheers fella .

I'd say good luck but you shouldn't need it at a club like that :D

Probably not :p.

Time to dominate even more now :D

Fingers crossed. Wouldn't mind adding a couple more European trophies to my collection.

Good luck at Madrid, looking forward to seeing who you buy!

Like I said in one of the posts above, I have taken a risk on one buy, a goalkeeper who is really young and no where near full potential. I have spent big on him due to his potential. I have also spent big money on two others, but they were definitely worth it .

Well that's quite a move. Real Madrid were one side I never quite got to manage in my save, although I always wanted to. I would be comfortable in saying that they are one of the safest bets on several fronts in my save - they're absolutely destroying La Liga, and financially they're close to untouchable. Looks like the latter carried on into your save!

Brings a different kind of pressure though - you're now at a team who expect to win everything, rather than one who haven't really tasted that. Very different challenges.

Finance wise it is unreal. The money on offer is absolutely huge. As for how they are getting on during my save, it is a constant battle with Barcelona for La Liga and they have only been split once. They have only won three Champion's League trophies as well so I would like that to increase. As you said though, there will be a massive expectancy now on my shoulders so I will have to deliver or I could see myself getting the sack for the first time ever on any FM I think :p.

Not a bad move :D. The tough decision comes when you have to decide which team is better...your Napoli side or this new Real side :).

Haha. Not quite sure which would be worse for others :p.

Terrible move :D

I know. God knows what came over me.

Great job at Getafe, Just don't sign any Portuguese winkers now you're at Madrid.

And who would you be referencing? ;)

GL at Madrid' date=' not that you'll need it.[/quote']

Cheers dude.

Just to inform you that at the moment my laptop is completely knackered. It won't switch on and when it did it wouldn't charge up. It is going in for repair tomorrow but it will be a couple of weeks before it is fixed.

Ouch...any ideas on what the issue is?

Ouch...any ideas on what the issue is?

I know the DC Jock where my laptop charger plugs into is knackered. I can't fix that because it requires soldering and I'm not prepared to mess it up. As for why it won't turn on I don't know the full reason, but the battery smells like it has burnt out so that is my guess. Both of those, plus the left mouse button not working makes for a good time to get it fixed really ha.

It is under warranty so it will get sorted and I am giving them a list of things off my laptop which I want putting onto a memory stick so I can put it on my laptop when I get it back as they wipe it clean when they fix it. If it doesn't fit onto a memory stick, then my save is lost.

Link to post

Well memory sticks are massive these days (I've had a 2GB one for a few years) so should easily fit the save on.
You should be able to save the data. As long as the hard drive isn't wrecked, which it doesn't seem to be, you can take out (or ask the repairers to take out) the drive, put it in a dock and get the stuff you need off of it.

PC World do a recovery option so as long as I supply the memory sticks they will tranfer any data over which I want. I just haven't had a chance as of yet to take it yet.

Link to post

Just buy a portable hard drive most of your data can be copied then

Well luckily at the moment I am ok. I went direct through ASUS and because my laptop is under warranty, they sent a new battery to PC World for me and I simply collected it and my laptop works now which is great. The DC Jock is on its way out as are the left and right mouse buttons, but for now I can use my laptop. I will back up all the data myself over the next few days and probably get it serviced at the start of next week.

SRL88's Career - Pre-Season - 2027/28 - Real Madrid

Friendlies

RealMadridCF_FixturesSchedule_zps2b4fd908.png

My first pre-season with Real out the way and it was a decent one. The game against Botafogo was a surprising result but we controlled the game and it was a case of being hit on the counter. The rest of pre-season saw us comfortably beat all our opponents as we head into the season pretty high n confidence.

Transfers - In

Marian Angelov - £29.5m - A very young defender to pay a big fee for but one I chased all summer and I am delighted to have brought him in as he has a lot of years ahead of him in the first team.

Gareth Baxter - £17.25m - This is the player I have taken a massive, massive risk on. He is very young and I have paid a massive fee for him in that sense. He will mainly be used as our number one so I will have to show a lot of faith and patience in him, but he is no where near full potential and he could turn into a cracking player.

David De Gea - £1.4m - At the complete opposite end of his career to Baxter, but both joined from Man Utd. His experience will be able to help Baxter over the next year or two.

Ivan Caballero - £10m - A cracking purchase for the club and a pretty bargain price considering his ability. Delighted with his capture.

Horst Voigt - £36m - A massive signing both in terms of ability and transfer fee. He is a very good player who will slot straight in.

Juan Recio - Free - A player I have signed for the third time now having had him at Napoli and then Getafe. He won't set the world alight, but he gives us a solid back-up option.

Transfers - Out

A lot of sales during the summer which was vastly needed. I honestly believe that the overall ability of the squad has been weakened, even with some of the signings and sales, but nearly all of the players I sold during the window were aged 30 and over and of those aged 30 and over they were on £180k+ per week so a bit of a cost saving exercise was needed, despite how rich the club are. They were paying silly wages to old players when it was time for a new generation to come through.

Link to post

How does it feel to spend such heaps of money?

It has its good and bad. I like being able to sign who I want, but it is annoying having teams asking for silly prices on certain players.
