SRL88
Holding a very good spot for Gil Vecente. Still time to make a top 3 push Cheers dude. The season is finished now. I just need to post the last two months. We didn't finish third, and it was all about that very tight battle for fourth.

Still doing well, hopefully you can keep 4th place then break the top 3 next season. Top 3 would still only get us Europa League football . Top 2 is Champion's League, but steady progress. SRL88
SRL88's Career - April & May 2026 - Gil Vicente Liga ZON SAGRES April A really frustrating month I must say. The game against Maritimo was a joke. We fell behind after six minutes, levelled it after seven, fell behind after eight minutes and then scored again after nine. Have you ever seen a more ridiculous four minutes?!?! Anyway, the game remained tight for the rest of the game but we gave away a stupid goal late. The following game against Naval was another sense of frustration. After falling behind we fought back really well and went in at the break 2-1 up. We added a third early in the second half and just when we were heading towards a vital three points we conceeded twice in the final ten minutes to throw away the three points. At least the month rounded off with a very good win away at Academica to get us back on track. May Two fantastic results to round off the campaign which see's us qualify for the Europa League. The game against Olhanense was a lot more straight forward as we comfortably beat them 3-0, but the game against Uniao de Madeira on the final day was unbelievable. I knew they headed into the last game of the season needing a win to have any chance of winning the league so I set us up to sit deep, contain them and hit them on the counter, and that is exactly what we did. We took the lead early on in the game and put in an excellent defensive display to hold on for possibly our biggest win of the season.
SRL88
A brilliant campaign which saw us qualify for Europe. And to do it we had to finish higher than the club ever has.
SRL88
SRL88's Career - Season Review - 2025/26 - Gil Vicente Liga ZON SAGRES Results 1 - Results 2 Final League Position: 4th I am absolutely chuffed with our performance over the course of the campaign. Considering I took over a struggling side with nothing to cheer for in the past and to go from that to qualifying for Europe in my first season in charge is a wonderful achievement. It isn't as though we came from out of nowhere either as we occupied a top four berth most of the season. Brilliant, brilliant campaign. Taca de Portugal Competition Performance: Knocked out in 5th Round I can't complain really as I didn't expect much. The only disappointment was the fact that we were knocked out without much of a fight against Benfica, especially how well we performed against them in the league. Bwin Cup Competition Performance: Knocked out in Third Phase Another competition I have no complaints about. Considering we were drawn against Porto I didn't expect to get out the group at all. We battled well and managed to finish second in our group. Squad Delighted with this squad, mainly due to its accomplishments, but boy does it need some work. Transfers - Finances A lot of transfers this season, especially those leaving the club, but it was for good reasons. There were just two many players here who needed to move on. The finances don't look great I must say, but hopefully participating in Europe, it may help. My Top 3 Players Jose Andrade - Top goalscorer. Nuff' said. Malko Castillo - A very good debut season for him. Offers us a lot in the attacking midfield position. Vitor Lima - Captain, rock, club legend. He just had to be here. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| Season | Team | League | Country | League Position | Notes |-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| 2012/13 | FC Bleid-Molenbeek | Derde Klasse B | Belgium | 4th | - || 2013/14 | FC Bleid-Molenbeek | Derde Klasse B | Belgium | 1st | Derde Klasse B Winners - Promoted || 2014/15 | FC Bleid-Molenbeek | Belgacom League | Belgium | - | Left in December |-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| 2014/15 | Northampton Town | League Two | England | 10th | Appointed in December || 2015/16 | Northampton Town | League Two | England | 1st | Promoted, Johnstones Paint Winners || 2016/17 | Northampton Town | League One | England | 8th | Johnstones Paint Runners-Up || 2017/18 | Northampton Town | League One | England | - | Left in November |-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| 2017/18 | Birmingham City | League One | England | 2nd | Appointed in November, Promoted || 2018/19 | Birmingham City | Championship | England | 5th | Promoted via Play-Off's || 2019/20 | Birmingham City | Premier League | England | 13th | League Cup Semi-Final |-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| 2020/21 | Napoli | Serie A | Italy | 1st | Serie A & TIM Cup Winners || 2021/22 | Napoli | Serie A | Italy | 1st | Serie A, TIM Cup & Supercoppa Winners,| | Champions League Runners-Up || 2022/23 | Napoli | Serie A | Italy | 1st | Serie A, TIM Cup, Supercoppa & | | Champions League Winners || 2023/24 | Napoli | Serie A | Italy | 1st | Serie A, TIM Cup, Supercoppa, CWC | | Champions League, UEFA S.Cup Winners || 2024/25 | Napoli | Serie A | Italy | 1st | Serie A, TIM Cup, Supercoppa, CWC & | | UEFA Super Cup Winners |-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| 2025/26 | Gil Vicente | Liga ZON SAGRES | Portugal | 4th | Europa League Qualification |
What's Next?Well somehow, I'm not quite sure how yet, but somehow we have to move forward as a club. SRL88
A good season all around. Trying to push into a higher level is tough...breaking into the top sides of the league. Will your finances let you do what you need to do in the market? Or another year of maintainig? I will have next to no budget I can garuntee that so it may be a case of exploiting the loan market again. I would happily settle for another fourth place finish. I don't think we are ready to break into the Champions League places yet. Krunes Great name, great player.

SRL88
SRL88's Career - June 2026 - Croatia World Cup Warm-Up Friendlies Three very different fixtures which I set up to get as close as possible to our opponents in the World Cup. We were poor in the first half against Spain and deservidly fell behind. Despite a much, much better performance in the second half we couldn't find a goal as we slipped to a defeat. The Canada game was very easy as we hit them for five before we rounded our warm-up friendlies off with a very good win in Chile which turned out to be a very, very tricky performance. SRL88
Are you kidding me?!?! I thought I would try my luck at the Porto position and just see how things would try out and this happens.... Well I don't care, but a manager with my reputation, one of the best in the game, I am not going to be dictated to. I may have been enjoying my time at Gil Vicente, but there isn't a chance I am going to have a Chairman force me to do anything.

SRL88
SRL88's Career - Getafe CF Getting Started Literally days after leaving Gil Vicente I am back in management. It hasn't taken me long, but sorry I couldn't stay in Portugal considering an self-ego'd Chairman gave me an ultimatum. I have achieved so much so far in my managerial career to take that sort of rubbish so I left of my own accord. I have been given a massive budget by Getafe's terms, and taking over a club which is stuck in mid-table, it would be nice to take them to be a European club. Name: Getafe CF SAD Nickname: Los Azulones Founded: 1983 Stadium: Coliseum Alfonso Perez (17,000 all-seater) Status: Professional

SRL88
That was a suprise resignation. You overreacted IMO After having a bit of a sleep, I not can see it was half the effects of the beers I had last night :o. Still, looking forward to things with Getafe. Surprised at the move. Shame you couldn't finish with Croatia on a high but finalists is a good achievement Yeah it was a cracking World Cup for us. I was fearing the worst when we drew Argentina. After a brilliant run to the Final, it is just a shame we couldn't go one further.
