Real Sport Clube - Segunda Liga 2016/17 - 9th

Table | Positions | Taça de Portugal

Life in the second tier started much the same way as it did in the third tier. We struggled to score and plunged our way down to the bottom of the table. I think a few of them were having a contest to see how often they could hit the frame of the goal.

It wasn't until our 13th game we managed to get on the winners list, but from then on it was smooth sailing, mostly due to our striker F. Moreira (YP14c) getting healthy and then turning on beast mode and becoming an absolute star. 30 goals and 9 assists on his way to 13 player of the match awards in 37 starts, leading to him being named player of the league. He carried us to a comfortable top half finish, and hopefully can carry us even further next year.

In the cup we drew Benfica away in the 3rd round, was always going to hurt, but wasn't really happy to let them put 7 past us! At least it put a bit of money in the bank, added to the prize money for our finish we actually made a bit of a profit which was surprising.

The intake is pre-patch, so the star ratings are still bugged. The rising quality of our squad means fewer stand-outs than there have been in the past, yet I still tagged 4. Thankfully balance was a bit better this intake.

  • Oliveira (YP17a) - DM - Midfield is still in need of some re-enforcing so he'll slot in nicely, should be getting appearances as soon as next year.
  • Valente (YP17b) - ST - Despite the breakout year for our striker we're thin there so this guy is very welcome.
  • H. Sousa (YP17c) - DC - Too short to be a DC so will be made into a DM.
  • Luís (YP17d) - DL - A decent potential lefty is very welcome, will be trained to cover the left wing as well.

The young guys continue to push through, allowing me to let another batch of 6 originals go. Down to only 6 non-youth players for next year. With us going up a division teams in the division below were now interested in our youth team, so a number of those went out on loan. Will be interested to see if it was worth it vs just feeding them under 19 games.

Standouts of the youths for the year:

  • F. Moreira (YP14c) - ST/AMC - An absolute star, just wish I could clone him so he could play next to himself. When he scores a hat trick he really makes sure of it, having games where he managed 4 and 5.
  • Rito (YP15f) - ML/DL - Was injured to start the season but came on strong towards the end. Will be handed the captaincy next year as our current captain is one of the players departing.
  • Tiago (YP15e) - GK - Kept in every game doing a solid job as our defense was 4th best in the competition.
  • Ferreira (YP16a) - DM/MC - 31 appearances straight out of the youth intake from last year ... had his ups and downs but hopefully ready now to be a big contributor next year.

Next Season

We'll be on year 2 of the three year plan of survive, consolidate, push for promotion. We finished on 61 points and it looks like low to mid 80s usually gets you promotion, so we'd need to improve 10 points each of the next two years to do it. Hopefully the new patch (which I didn't install for this season) doesn't break my tactic or how brilliant F. Moreira (YP14c) has been!

Season 8 (2020/2021) summary:

We managed to repeat the success of previous season, although it was a close battle throughout the season. We got knocked out of the Cup early, but our fixtures weren't very lightened due to participation in Champions and EURO league. We were automatically placed to Champs Group stage, with Barcelona, Juventus and Shakhtar (though group). In the end we managed to get 4 points from Shakhtar and 1 for draw with Juve. Finishing in 3rd spot we moved on to EURO knockout, beating Leverkusen in 1st round. Then we drew Bayern Munich, sealing our fate. Losing 1-3 at home, winning 1-0 away, was a 2-3 loss and our end in this season's continental competitions.

I wonder if I get my board to build the new stadium, will it now be named after me?

I also achieved 300 managerial games at some point of this season :)

ri916- Thanks :)

Near the end/start of the season, I got a message about training camp. It surprised me a little because this is the first time I see something like that :p

We went to Germany and managed to grab one fine result:

I wouldn't be worried, once you've gained one promotion you're usually pretty secure due to the club stature increase to board confidence even if you're not meeting the season expectations. It's a good chance to increase the facilities so I'd still be happy if it was happening to my club!

I'm going to start this challenge in Holland now that the patch is out, but not sure I can be bothered to post full updates as I'm not sure how long it will hold my attention for. Either way, congrats to those who have already done very well, if not quite completed it yet.

Had some great fun on FM12 with RFC Liege in this challenge and have been waiting to join at some point, then stupidly got all ready to play as Queens Park (in Scotland, i like to play as a team that as something to interest me ..) then re-read the first post and it turns out Scotland isn't an option ... I'll have another re-think, can't find another team that interests me enough at the moment. May go back to Liege or pick a Basque Team .. I doubt i could get FC Andorra promoted otherwise they would be a good choice. ANyway you guys have been making for an interesting read so far, keep up the good work.

U.B. CONQUENSE

The Beginning

What my have been surprise announcement U.B. Conquense pointed former NHL player "The Finnish Flash" Teemu Selanne their new manager. After Teemu was retired from Anaheim he moved to Spain. There he found new love. Football. Nobody expected that he someday (at least so quick) become manager. But it's for sure that this man have the passion to bring success to U.B. Conquense.

Club Facilities

First Team Squad

There is not much about to tell the club. Last season it didn't play at the top 3 leagues of Spain. Squad seems strong enought to battle top positions but board wanted only avoid relegation for this season. Other point to the squad is that it's quite old so there might be an issue for that restriction for 16 over-23yo players. Facilities are decent. There is probably no ability to upgrade those in this first season so there much I can do about it but it won't stop me asking :) There is also that thing which I asked you earlier. The team have made few transfers in this season before me taking control and after season review where I post that transfers photo will be those transfer but like you see my contract starting date and those transfers dates will be different so I'm not the one who have signed those guys.

Season Targets

- Good tactics for the team

- Sign at least 2 youth players from the first intake

- Avoid Relegation

Season 2013/14

Magnificent Season!

The season was a rollercoast ride from the beginning to the end. At start our tactics didn't work as smooth as I would've liked but more games we played then more fluent our game came. Only problem was occasionally errors in defence but still our team conceded less goals than any other team. But the other side of the coin is that our two strikers Benitez and Pulga didn't score as much goals that I've liked but still good season them as well as the whole team. Like I said it was rollercoast ride 'till the end. We were 4th before last game against RSD Alcalá which was 3rd. It was possible to us finish either 3rd, 4th or 5th. So there was very important last fixture. We get flyer start when Pérez scored in 2nd minute and at halftime the score was 3-0 so I was confident. The second half was only a formality. We were in playoffs!

In playoffs we were drawn against Sestao. I had no clue what kind of team we were against and frankly I was a bit worry about possible promotion. There would be some pros and cons when wondering that. But money is the reason why I think we should try promotion. Our finances are mile high on red so we need money. Promotion would bring some of that in the club also much needed reputation. Game against Sestao at home didn't go as we would've liked. Our freekick specialist Pérez hit the top bar but that was only we get. Sestao capitalizse their counter-attack and scored 0-1 in 2minutes before full time. I was disappointed.

Second leg was similar to the first. We had our chances but couldn't score and Sestao went 1-0 lead which sealed our fate. We managed to equalize but then time run out and we saw Sestao going thru next round. Despite the loss to Sestao I'm happy how we played. Nobody expect nothing less than relegation and we played for promotion so what can I say :)

I think it's fair to say that we overachieve big time this season. Mostly because I created 3 tactics Counter, Control and Attack. Those three was used the whole season and intent to use in future too. Next season is harder that's for sure but I think we can be in top positions if all goes well.

Table

Fixtures [1 2]

Squad Stats - Honest I was surprised to see Pérez our worst performer? Okay AvR don't tell the whole truth but yet something. Mario were simply the best in our defence and Aday Benitez in our attack. Others were something between those guys. Overall our team was playing over expectations.

Transfers - There is transfers but like I said before made before my time (compare my contract date and transfer dates). Honest need to say that team wouldn't be as good as it is now if those transfers wouldn't happen. So therefore I have some mixed feelings about it.

Youth Intake

Well the intake wasn't all that bad but could've been better. I signed all the players with at least one (gold) star potential coz our youth team doesn't have any players so one we do. Best players were following trio.

Francisco Javier Parada - With 3 star potential he is our future at the moment. Will be getting chances next season in first team.

Alberto Valbuena - 2 star potential. Also giving chances in first team in next season.

Diego Jiménez - 1,5 star potential. Same as our backup goalie at the moment so he replace him. Only getting chances if De Miguel get injured.

First Season Targets

- Good tactics for the team - Achieved

- Sign at least 2 youth players from the first intake - Achieved

- Avoid Relegation - Achieved

All three goals were achieved so it's time to think next season targets.

2nd Season Targets

- Get rid of dead wood/Make profit this season (last season we made heavy loss due player wages)

- Give youth players first team football

- Mid-Table Finish

Braumiller Nicely done, I'll try to follow your footsteps towards promotion :) btw. how is that Castellón takeover?

Tush Nice job winning the league and also good performances in ECC

Shakes Superb first season in Segunda!

C.D. CASTELLON

Season 4 - 2016/17

Consolidation

After last seasons playoff success we found ourselves in LIGA adelante for our first time. The only aim of the season was to survive and not let last seasons achievements go to waste.

And this was achieved, albeit in unusual fashion. The start of the season saw us carry on last seasons form and constantly occupy one of the top 6 spots (2 automatically promoted, next 4 into a playoff for final promotion place). I was delighted with this and began having thoughts of a possible promotion challenge. Then it all began to fall apart. Injuries certainly played a part in it, but at the time I could not quite put my finger on the reason for the 2nd half collapse. Due to the fantastic first half of the season we only ever fell to as low as 12th and ended up 11th. But truth be told we had stone cold relegation form by the end of the year. Worryingly.

The Spanish Cup was a non event. Beating Deportivo on penalties in our first round (the 2nd rnd) and then losing to Numancia.

Youth Intake

Another good intake, with plenty of depth to fill out the under 19s and provide competition for the first team. Eight tagged, perhaps a couple more than should have been :)

Board takeovers were the main talking off the field this season. Our existing chairman made it known he was ready to sell as soon as possible and the flirting with Castellon began.

First came the very surprising news that a Danish tycoon was looking into buying us, and making 39m available for transfers!!!

He eventually decided against it and the next rumor was a lot less interesting. One of the directors of the board was looking to assume control. He too eventually decided against it, and so it was eventually third time lucky when a local consortium of business owners took over.

FC United Of Manchester-2021-2022

League Table | Squad 1 | Squad 2 | Finances | Facilities | Transfers(No Cheating!)

League-1st-Past Positions

A season of glory for FC United. The team was the best from the very start, always close to the top 3 places and eventually we managed to finish in first place after an incredible second half of the season. Watkins, Thorne, Rowlands, Wilson and O'Connor led the team this season with stellar performances from all of them throughout the season. Watkins has shown himself as the best player, dictating play from the center of the field. Next to him, our captain, Thorne had an impressive form after moving to MC permanently. And the opening up-top was taken gladfully by O'Connor, who led the line this season when not in the treatment table. Wilson led the Assist charts once again, while Rowlands strength at the back was vital this season. The promotion in a season in which we where expected to finish 13th saw me become a club icon. FC United will play in League 1 next season:D

Cups

Would've liked to do better in each to earn more money as our finances are dangerously 1M in the red. Hopefully promotion will be enough to improve our finances.

FA Cup

An easy win against Sutton United was followed up by a tough game against Kettering, where we managed to win thank to a penalty save from Kelly. Against Ipswich, the side was outplayed through the 90 minutes despite us going ahead early on.

Capital One Cup

Despite taking a 2-0 lead in the first half, we threw it away against Championship team Burnley. They're 119th minute winner sent us out in the first round again.

Jonstone's Paint Trophy

Not to worried as I put out the youngsters who were not getting games and they performed admirably against Bolton's full strength side.

After a year at Ossett Town, Squires has been a free agent for 10 months. 3 clubs below the BSN are interested in him.

Ian Lee-YP4a-DM/MC

Released 2020-Retired 2020

Loyd Cruse-YP5b-AMR/MR/ST-SOLD 2022-Current Club: Retford

Cruse was sold to Retford in February on a free transfer, making 7 goals and 3 assists in 18 appearances for his new club.

Current Players

Adam Abbott-YP1a-DR

Incredible how he has maintained the right-back spot, as he had a great season despite my assistant thinking that he is only good enough for the BSP. Continues to defy the odds, but appears to be reaching his peak. Hopefully he can be good enough for League 1. Has played more than 300 games for the club.

Charlee Maguire-YP1d-AM/M®

He became third choice right winger this season, and will not be part of the club next season. He played 16 times in all competitions, scoring 2 goals and making 4 assists for a career high 7.01 AVG rating. He played 153 league games for the club, scoring 8 gaosl and making 18 assists. I expect him to find a new club without much hassle for next season.

Karl Prior-YP2a-ST

After 6 seasons at the club, Karl will be released. The striker only managed 8 appearances(3 starts) this season, yet managed to score 3 goals again this season. A goal in the last game of the season(and his last game for the club) took his all time tally to 72 goals in all competitions as the star youngster of the second intake fails to outlast the other one.

Derek Wilson-YP2b-AMR/MR

The vice-captain was amazing again, as he broke the club record of 19 assists(managed 20) and scored 4 goals for a career high 7.18 AVG Rating. Got a 2 year deal in April as his contract was running down.

Leon Thorne-YP2c-MC/ST

Now that he has become a full-on midfielder, my captain's play has improved a lot. His 11 goals and 10 assists were vital for our promotion push, as he has become a very good box-to-box midfielder. Will be very important in our relegation fight next season.

Charles Chukwu-YP2d-AML/ML

Didn't play much as Coleman showed his worth week in, week out, but did well enough when he did. Coleman's injury in the last month of the season saw him score the goal that saw us earn promotion from League 2. Will get even less game-time next season as I feel he is not good enough for L1 :(

Robbie Gammon-YP3a-MC/DM

Went on loan to BSN side Boston Utd. for the first 6 months of the season and didn't play well. He didn't play for the first team until the last match of the season, when the title had already been secured. Will leave the club this summer.

Sean Coleman-YP3b-AM(LC)/M(LC)

An incredible season ended in misery for the winger, as he all time high goals(11), assists(8), PoM awards(3) and AVG rating(7.18) before getting a 4 to 5 month injury in March. I am hoping he can recover well as I would rather have him that Chukwu out wide.

Declan Rowlands-YP3c-DC/DM/MC

I hate to be repetitive, but, as expected, Rowlans shined ones more at the back. His ball distribution is impeccable, and he is very good at marking rival players. Has played 200+ games for the club.

Stuart Thompson-YP3d-DM/MC

Was my starter for the first half of the season, before a mid-season injury saw other players push on for his place in the starting XI. Will have to compete for game-time a lot next season.

Ian Rooney-YP4b-D(CRL)

The left-back had another solid season, one in which he sometimes was forced to play in the center and did well. Hit the post 5 times this season, so hopefully he can become a threat going forward.

Johnny O'Connor-YP4c-ST

To think that I doubted O'Connor when he first came out of the academy. An amazing season saw him lead the club in goals with 18, and he could have had many more if it wasn't for injuries. He played his first match in late September(coming on as a sub to score once), and didn't play again until mid-October(2 goals from the bench) due to another injury. He looked set to break the 19 league goal record set in the 2013/14 season until he got injured in March. If he stays healthy, he will provide the goals for the team.

John Dunphy-YP4d-DR/WBR/MR/AMR

Origginally back-up to Abbott, he is now back-up to Wilson. If he can improve his crossing, his dribbling should create many chances for his team-mates next season.

Lewis Watkins-YP5a-MC

Watkins continues to amaze me. After a rather average first half of the season, he hit full stride in the second half as he led the team to the title with 9 goals and 8 assists, with all but 1 goal and 3 assist coming before January. Got called up for the Wales B squad and his international debut doesn't seem far of.

Andrew Kelly-YP6a-GK

Started most games again this season and did well enough. However, Andrew might have to perform very well to keep his first team place.

Josh Hawes-YP6b-MC/DM

Injuries didn't leave him alone this season, yet Josh still managed to have a great one. A 1 month loan at BSN side Stalybridge in February revitalized him as he came back more determined than ever to make a spot in the Starting XI his own. Should challenge Thompson for the DM spot.

Allan Gallimore-YP7a-DC/DM/MC

A good second season for Gallimore, who has become a huge threat for our opposition from Corner Kicks. If he can continue his development, he should hold his own in League One.

Solomon Murray-YP7b-MC/DC

Had an ok season this time around as he rotated between the DC and MC positions. May struggle to get game time next season.

Dafydd Burrell-YP7c-MC

Star of the U-18's this season as they made it to the U-18's Cup final, where they lost AET 2-1 to Arsenal. Great achievement from the lads! He will be part of the first team next season.

Bill Lundon-YP7d-MC/DM

Bill played well this seaon when called upon and scored the goal in the U-18 cup final. Will also move up to the first team squad.

Lee Birmingham-YP8a-AMC/MC

Lee had a great season as back-up to Watkins and managed to play well in the AML spot. Good first season.

Geraint Pierce-YP8b-D(CRL)/DM/M(CRL)

While always on the bench, my 'Jack of All Trades' struggled to get significant minutes. However, this should change this season as others reach their peak and he

Youth Intake

Matty Keeley-YP9a-GK

Should challenge Kelly next season, and eventually replace him if my assistant is right about his potential.

Rico Dicken-YP8b-MC/DM

What is it with me and good Midfielders? Thankfully Dicken can also play at DL, which should give him some games

Season 4 - 2016/17

YP Tagged Players Update (ordered by appearances)

Sergio Mira (YP 2G) - Another great season by our now #1 DC to add to his great rookie season. Solid, dependable and tall. Would like a little more pace about him, but still quality.

Jacinto (YP 2C) - Had a great preseason with 8 goals, and that led to him being given a chance at the start of the season. Took it with both hands and scored 14 league goals. Developing nicely and if I can raise his finishing he could become a very potent weapon.

Braulio Guillamon (YP 3B) - Saw 39 games at 16 years old at the heart of my defence. A lot of that is the lack of other DC talent, but Braulio is looking to form a long lasting partnership with Sergio Mira (YP 2G).

Alejandro De la Rosa (YP 2E) - Another pleasing season with 15 league goals and nice progression. Hampered twice by month long injuries, but bounced back nicely.

Julio Llera (YP 1C) - Now first choice WBL and coming along nicely. Missed 6 weeks to a hernia injury.

Jacobo Cobo (YP 1D) - Split time at WBR with Jose Alejandro (YP 1B) and has started to really come along nicely.

Jose Alejandro (YP 1B) - Split time with Jacobo Cobo (YP 1D) at WBR and is now trained at DM to cover there and provide more flexibility

Victor (YP 1A) - Mr Injury-prone, missed a total of 17 weeks due to 6 different injuries. However, despite low returns on goals and assists he played well and his Advanced Playmaker training progression is going nicely. Creativity up from 6 to 13 now, and rising.

Reinerio Fuente (YP 3) - Our first 'missed at intake' youth. Backing up Julio Llera (YP 1C) at WBL, but is now very highly rated. Will begin to give him more games to aid his development next year

Adrian Gimeno (YP 2H) - Underwhelming season, when another quality DC would have really helped. Undersized and cannot help but feel that is hurting us.

Eduardo (YP 4A) - One of the few of this years intake to get first team action. Eduardo set Castellon and LIGA adelante records for youngest goalscorer at 15 years, 270 days.

Real Sport Clube - Segunda Liga 2017/18 - 1st

Table | Positions | Taça de Portugal | Taça da Liga

I agonized over what to do tactically in the off-season, stick with what had worked thus far or move to something more suited to the players we'd been gifted? In the end the sheer number of tall defenders made me decide that a back 3 it had to be, and I went with a strikerless 3-4-3 system, that actually quite resembles what Braumiller plays except with wide rather than narrow attacking threats.

It quickly became apparent that I'd made the right choice, we had one run early where we went over 900 minutes without conceding, and on the back of this defensive solidity we made a run at the top of table a year earlier than I could have hoped for. It was a close run contest between the top three much of the way, with the second last match of the season seeing us travel to Mafra needing only a draw to ensure promotion. Unfortunately our regular keeper was away on under 21 international duty, and we slipped a goal down, and it looked like we were going to face a nervy last day, only to have our captain make a run from wingback to sneak past the defense and volley in a cross! Only his second goal of the year but what a captain's goal. As it turned out a draw was enough to not only send us up but ensure the league title.

We also made some very nice cup runs, taking down some top tier talent along the way. The highlights being coming from behind 3 times against Rio Ave to force a shootout in the 3rd round of the Portuguese cup, and a 5-2 demolition of Gil Vincente at home in the second stage of the league cup. If not for blowing a 3-0 lead in one of our 3rd stage games we'd have made the semi finals.

Well we were due for a disappointment and this one was it. Nobody stands out enough to be worth tagging at this stage but I'm not too upset as we have plenty already that need playing time to develop. The major worry is it's the first with our new HoYD who looked better on paper ... I'm going to hope it's just bad luck this time, but if it happens again maybe I'll have to go grovelling back to the old guy.

We rotated a lot early with the cup runs giving us two games nearly every week before settling on a team towards the end of the year. We're in the situation where it's going to be hard to give all the guys enough time to develop: back down to 30 league games next year with the step up in league. However loaning players out thus far has been a disaster, the AI managers are all lying ******** and say that my guys will be first team or key players then let them rot. :(

Key players at the moment:

  • José Sousa - AMC - Will probably be at the club long after the other non-youths are gone. Had an absolutely supurb season as our trequartista, racking up both goals and assists for a 7.88 rating.
  • F. Moreira (YP14c) - AML - Not as prolific as last year when he played as the lone force up front, but he's the guy who we rely on to break the game open.
  • Ferreira (YP16a) - DM - Really kicked on this year, constantly winning the ball to start the counter attack.
  • Oliveira (YP17a) - DM - Earned himself a starting place in his first season, and even managed an unlikely hat track. Not bad for a DM with 5 finishing.
  • Tiago (YP15e) - GK - Any keeper that finishes a league campaign with more clean sheets than goals conceded is doing something right.

Next Season

Obviously the plan next year is to hang on for dear life! I'm sure we'll get some thrashings from the big boys of the league but what we did in our cup runs makes me think we've got enough to scrap some points against the rest and stay up. From there hopefully we're turning a decent profit and can start thinking of upgrading our facilities.

Braumiller-Great to see Eduardo getting some game time, surprised that he broke the youngest goalscorer record as a defender though!

He can play DC, but his natural position is DM. In his games he generally played in the more marauding DM role, which does present several chances a game. (In my previous post I had the screenshots for Eduardo and Adrian Gimeno (who is a DC) mixed up - now fixed)

Season 5 is progressing, and it is interesting to say the least. Unexpected developments. That is all I will say for now.

Have a day to myself, so I may well finish the season (I hope!).

Huh, well this is a slightly annoying turn of events, just passed the half-way point in the season and I've been sacked. We were sitting 14th in the league, and had drawn the last 3 games as well.

Considering the size of the squad I had available, and being incredibly lucky not to have any injuries cause havoc, I'm more than slightly annoyed about this.

Table

Past positions

Ah well, going to give Football Italia another punt, I "should" do better this time round, maybe. Hopefully.

Speaking of which, I've taken over the team of Borgosesia Calcio.

The main squad is relatively young, with another 11 players available in the under 20s. The almost complete lack of facilities may be a challenge early on as is the money eventually needed to increase the 1200 capacity stadium is another worry.

Nice logo, though.

Shakes- Fantastic effort! Well done! Was a lot easier getting to the top flight this time than it was last fm eh ;)

I chose a team that didn't have complete crap for facilities this time, lesson learned last time that there's not enough money in Portugal to upgrade them until you reach the top.

U.B. CONQUENSE

Season 2014/15

Dreamland after frustration

Our season started on high fly. In the first half of the season we only lose one game. So we were sitting at the top of the table quite comfortable. We managed to play decent cup run as well. After playing against Real Madrid we managed to one month make good profit so I decide to ask to increase our junior coaching budget. For my surprise it was granted. Second half was merely as good as the first one. But at the end we were playing strangely when battling with Albacete and Atletico B with the title. When they lose we lose. When they played draw we draw. This continue at the very end of the season. As we saw Conquense lifting the title after the last league game. Which was great achievement for the team. But I knew that the most important games are just ahead of us. The Playoffs or like Braumiller say "Hunger Games". I think it's an very strange system and I was confused. At first round or Semi Finals we face Second Division B3 winner Atl. Baleares. At home we struggle and played 1-1 draw. But I had confidence that we could win the away game after seeing the first leg at home. The second game was a thriller. I think the game got into our guys and strange errors came into our game. The game ended 1-1 too. So it was time for overtime. I had couple of subs left and I put fresh legs in midfield and that seemed to help. We were awarded a penalty and substitute Jorge Fernandez put the ball in goal. We were leading 2-1. After the goal there was very little events on field coz I pull our players to defence. After referee whistle as mark of the end I was really happy. Never ever is this series of football game been so exciting and nerve wrecking. But our games wasn't over yet. We face Xerez in the Playoff Final. The winner will be promoted to Liga adelante.

Again the first game was our home soil. And yet again we saw 1-1 result in scoreboard after the match. I was actually disappointed after the match because we made lot of silly mistakes. I don't know why but I think the players were so nervous It's a new situation to them as well. In second game we saw over 20 thousand football fans in the arena. The game was really poor match which saw only one goal. In 9th minute Iñigo Vélez score header and Xerez were leading. I try everything but nothing helped we were defeated. After the game I was unsure is there any game left for us or was it over. So I continued the game like normal and nothing happend. No games left. I was frustrated. Yet so close but so far. I took an hour to sort this out and then decide that I give one more season to this team. So I started to think next year. What to do different to get that promotion. Then I got series of messages with our board.

Stadium Expansion

Conquense close to Administration

New Sponsor

This make me wonder...what the heck! But after the Season Review message came in to my eyes. It was sure. WE WERE PROMOTED!! But what I don't understand (if somebody does could explain to me) why the heck we played that Playoff Final if we were promoted despite that loss to Xerez?!?

Table

Fixtures [1 2]

Spanish Cup - We had solid good Cup run which ended against the winner of the cup this year Real Madrid. I'm really pleased the home game against the giant and of course that away game we didn't have any chance.

Squad Stats - I was so excited about my promotion so I forgot to take picture of this Sorry for that guys :D But same guys were our best than last year. Our rock in defence Mario was best in overall rating with almost 8.00 rating. Benitez was best goal scorer with around 15 goals this season. Most notable new player who rise eyebrows was Juanito. With 5 goals and 5 assists he was superb.

Transfers - Only few players left coz I knew I need my guys so had to renew most contracts.

Youth Intake

Maybe I need to look new HoYD next year to get better players? The Intake was not all that bad. Couple of youngsters got me interested yet I sign couple of less talented too to get our youth team full. Two players for this years intake might get first team football next year.

Ignacio Alemany (YP 02a) - Report - Fit in our tactics perfectly. Can be used as an Striker or Inside Forward. Report says that he could be good Liga BBVA striker in future.

Alberto (YP 02b) - Report - More of a question mark at the moment. I think we will find a spot him too.

Youth Player Watch

Francisco Javier Parada - Didn't get much chances and played most of his season in youth team.

Alberto Valbuena - I really like this kid. Made lot of appearances due striker injuries. Season stats 29 games 6 goals 2 assists 6.89 AvR

Diego Jiménez - Didn't get a single match last year. Played in youth team most of the season.

2nd Season Targets

- Get rid of dead wood/Make profit this season (last season we made heavy loss due player wages) NOT Achieved

- Give youth players first team football - Achieved

- Mid-Table Finish - Achieved

2/3 targets were achieved. We made even more loss this year and we are debt due that Stadium expansion but there is nothing I can do about it just try to make best possible result in future.

3rd Season Targets

- Avoid Relegation

- Avoid Relegation

C.D. CASTELLON

Season 5 - 2017/18

And Like A Phoenix.....

Where to start, where to start....

Well, last seasons poor second half of the season was definitely in the back of everyones mind. Could we banish those memories? No :(

We picked up exactly where we left off, and that meant immediate relegation worries. 1 win in our first 10 league games, just 4 points and it was looking very, very dire. Credit to the board, they stuck by me when I am not sure I would have done the same if I was in their position.

The terrible form lead me to take a step back and assess everything and this lead to the revelation, I did not possess enough talent at DC to run with my now beloved 5-5-0 formation. To be honest, I only have 2 good DCs so even when fielding my 'best' team I am making myself weaker than possible. Add in an injury or suspension and I was creating huge issues for myself.

So, tweaks were necessary. Out went the back 3, with wing backs. Flat back four, moving the wingbacks back and pushing a DC into the DM zone. I have a lot of good promising talent at DM, so this made sense (and why did I not see this earlier!!!).

So now I have two wing backs with a defend role in the full back slots. Two DCs playing as regular defend DCs. An Anchor Man sitting in the DM spot. The two outer DM's now have the same role as my previous marauding DM in the 5-5-0, to provide the attacking impetus we are losing from the wing backs stablizing things at the back. The front three AMCs were untouched, no need to mess about with those.

So, the new 4-6-0 formation now looks like this....

new460.png

Thankfully, it worked. And in time it began working a treat!

Obviously the change took time to bed in, and the first 4 games with it saw 2 draws and 2 defeats, but there were encouraging signs. Then just what the Dr ordered, a trip to bottom of the table. A 6-1 away win, with some great performances and you could feel the gloom beginning to lift and everyone buy into the new formation. Back down to earth with a hard fought 0-1 home loss next week, but then we rattled off 4 straight wins to close the gap to the teams out of the relegation zone. The next 4 games saw a defeat and 3 draws, to keep us hovering around the drop zone, but then another 4 game winning streak finally put to bed any relegation fears.

By the end of the season we were definitely in playoff form, winning 5 of the last 7 games, including a 7-0 thumping of Tenerife at their place.

By the seasons end we were just 4 points off of a playoff spot and had a remarkably good +25 goal difference.

Once we finally figured out our issues, fixed them and set about our business we were rising like a phoenix.

A big thanks goes out to a patient board and chairman!

He has shown absolutely nothing to deserve his previous tycoon moniker in the news items, but after this year I like him just fine anyway :)

League Table

Weekly League Positions

League Fixtures ( with 550 with new 460 )

Again I paid zero attention to the Spanish Cup, not wanting it to intrude in my league business. A 1-1 home draw with my youths and then losing on penalties to LIGA adelante foes Palencia was our only action.

Youth Intake

We were due a let down with youth intakes sooner or later, and this was it. No-one tagged, and the top couple of 'prospects' both being GKs which is a position it appears we have covered for the foreseeable future.

Season Ending Squad Stats

Castellon Best Eleven

Yearly Training Summary

Transfers

Season 5 YP Tagged Performances

Alejandro De la Rosa (YP 2E) - Another good season, notching 14 league goals. His rash of downward arrows is just a case of returning from a season ending injury. Should get all that back in preseason!

Eduardo (YP 4A) - One of the main beneficiaries of the extra DM role in the new 460 formation. Spent most of the season filling the Anchor Man role nicely for us. A bit more muscle on the bone and he will be a great role player.

Victor (YP 1A) - Mr Injury Prone avoided them for the most part. Missed a month at the start of the year, but then injury free the rest of the way. 15 goals and 12 assists for our main playmaker!

Jacinto (YP 2C) - The 3rd member of the 'front 3', rounding out nicely with just a little more work needed on his finishing. 13 goals and 18 assists is a great return, including a club record 5 goals in the season defining 6-1 away win at Mirandes.

Braulio Guillamon (YP 3B) - One half of the new DC pairing, solid and dependable. Never gets much credit, but he is irreplacable currently.

Sergio Mira (YP 2G) - Identical to Braulio. We are currently very dependant on those two playing together.

Jacobo Cobo (YP 1D) - Back home in his natural DR position and no longer has to split time with Jose Alejandro (YP 1B)

Julio Llera (YP 1C) - The other full back, playing very nicely and turning into something of a physical beast (for our level), especially when he adds a little more strength

Jose Alejandro (YP 1B) - Now his WBR role has been eliminated he is now a full time DM, where he is excelling. Great performances.

Tomas (YP 2A) - Another benefitting from more DM roles. Fighting out for the 3rd DM position with Eduardo (YP 4A). Healthy competition, instead of a troublesome 3rd DC.

Reinerio Fuente (YP 3) - Didn't kick on as much this season as last year promised, but still highly looked upon by the coaching staff

Sergio Arguello (YP 3) - Our second intake youth who was not tagged. Took on the specialist role of the late game AMC speed merchant sub, for when we were chasing a game. Nice potential, just needs to round out his game.

Oscar (YP 2F) - Fringe DM player right now, but has the potential to steal a spot if he performs when given the chance.

Season 6 - 2018/19 Targets

* Build off of our second half of season 5 and push for playoffs with the new 460 formation

I think I need to start again over this challenge....I have massive problem. The team is in heavy debt and I can offer any contracts so after the season over half our players are leaving due their contracts expires. So we leave with bunch of kids in youth team. Well I play the season to the end and see what happens :/

Just play it and see what happens -Jani-, you may get a take over that clears the debt, which would let you hand out contracts.

Excellent recovery Braumiller, I see you've got the opposite problem to me, I have so many DCs I'm training them to play elsewhere.

A.C.D. Asti

Serie C2/B

Preview

Unknown Englishman Tom Offen is appointed as the new manager of A.C.D. Asti, who are expected to finish rock bottom of the lowest tier of professional Italian football. Despite an unexpected promotion last season, their previous manager disappeared in an unknown fashion, leaving Offen to take over the reins and guide the team to survival, then glory. The former Sunday League star declared that he would be looking towards the youth team for new players, and expressed disgust towards the amounts of money being thrown about in modern football - he has stated that Asti, who are without a nickname, any rivals or notable previous players, would not be succumbing to the pressures that have developed with the commercial nature of football, and that they would not sign a single player during his tenure. The fans are excited to see some local young talent on show, and hope that Offen is the real deal, and not just a lazy, over-ambitious Football Manager enthusiast.

Goals for the 2013/14 season:

- Survive relegation. This could be my toughest task out of the three, as I have doubts in my current squad.

- Introduce at least three youth players to the first team. We'll have to wait and see what sort of standard they are, but the facilities are very poor so I am expecting an unimpressive intake.

- Play an efficient brand of football which would be likely seen in the Italian lower tiers. No place for a "When in Rome" -esque pun here, my new side are far nearer Turin. I plan on emulating the defensive style of Italian teams in an attempt to survive relegation.

:( I've just been sacked 2/3rds of the way through my fourth season. The third season was a bit of a disappointment, as we finished 5th but failed to gain a playoff place. When I was sacked I was 4 points above the relegation zone.

Good luck offen94!

Unlucky ri916 :(

Great to see your change of formation worked Braumiller! Hopefully you can continue the great form you had next season!

Thanks! Going to be travelling for 4-5 days after tomorrow, so hoping to get my fix of FM13 tonight and finish the season. Very interesting so far....
