SCIAG
Xabi Alonso is such a good player. I miss seeing him play regularly more than Ronaldo or Fabregas.
Dan_rm
BORING BORING SPAIN :*) I guess it's just a cool thing now to complain about this. Yet the next day Andrea Pirlo (one of very few who could play for Spain) is praised all night for doing what Spain do every game.
Zaitsev
Except Pirlo was far more dynamic and willing to try and make something happen in the final third.
Wakers
Except Pirlo was far more dynamic and willing to try and make something happen in the final third. No he wasn't. He played exactly like a Spanish midfielder would. This "Spain only pass sidewards" myth is utter bollocks.
Zaitsev
Er, yes he was? Was always looking to feed in the advancing full-backs or the forwards dropping off. Plus looking for Balotelli breaking the offside trap.
Ayub95
How many lofted through balls he fed to Balotelli.
noikeee
No he wasn't. He played exactly like a Spanish midfielder would. This "Spain only pass sidewards" myth is utter bollocks. Spain does have more penetration that some people seem to think, even with a false 9 in Fabregas, but I also certainly feel Spain is playing more and more sideways as the years go by.. this France game really was amusing, once they were up one goal they almost gave up trying to score and focused only on retaining the ball all game long. Obviously 90% of the fault for that relies on France for not reacting at all after going down.
