I know, everyone said if I didn't have any nerves then I wouldn't be normal. It just feels weird to not have the comfort blanket of the job I've done for nearly 4 years. Knowing that I have to start over again to impress people. I'm confident that I can do it, it just feels weird, that's all. As I said earlier, my old boss has said if it doesn't work out, give him a ring and he'll employ me again. Whether he means it though is another thing.

Hopefully I'll have a good few days/weeks and those feelings will become a distant memory. Everyone at Morrisons has said I'm making the right decision, including many managers and supervisors. Also having weekends off, I think and an extra 5 days off when the uni closes should help possibly.

I think its a brave but good decision imo. You was comfy at Morrissons and I honestly though you'd be there for life :D. This will be the making of you.

So did I. I did/do enjoy working there and wanted to progress. Unfortunately it wasn't going to come any time soon imo and I'd be waiting for someone to leave to get a possible chance. If they'd have replaced my old supervisor who left in March, then I'd have possibly stayed now. But they didn't which means I'd have to keep plugging along. Working for a uni offers it's own chance of progression and probably a faster one with it being a fairly set market. Not that retail and Morrisons aren't. It's just that it's a tougher market out there at the moment with shoppers wanting more bargains. So yeah, moving on was needed. I'll tell you one thing I won't miss, Christmas in retail :D. Customers buying 4 years worth of shopping because we'll be closed for one possibly two days :D.

You wasn't the only person to think I'd be there for life. Loads of staff who come in on Saturday were shocked to find out that I'd handed in my resignation as they thought the same.

In the future, I'd like to be a property developer. So learning new things and making as much money as possible is what I need to do.

Oh and I've had a Chinese tonight, paid for by myself for my family as well and now I'm enjoying some brandy and cokes. Took advantage of my last chance to use of my discount card by buying a crate of beer for my dad, 3 bottles of brandy(2 same and 1 different), of which one is for my grandad as a replacement for drinking his one. A bottle of gin for my nan for Christmas, some Toblerone minis for my dad for Christmas, 3 packs of Mars Bars for my grandad, a Brothers Tutti Frutti Cider and 4 small boxes of Maltesers for my brother for Christmas. Oh and 2 boxes of Liquorice Allsorts for my nan for Christmas.

Just got in from a trip to the pub with my team after work. God that was painful.

Don't you like socialising with your staff? For me, the friends I've made at Morrisons is one of the best lot of friends I've made. Which, is why despite me leaving/left. They'll still see me on nights out and when I go in shopping.

Why did you go then? :D

Sometimes it helps to fratanise with the plebs. Which is why I keep posting in here.

I can't stand most of them.

Oh, and Cleon, I haven't been to Pizza Hut for ages as it's too expensive .

£16 for a pizza ain't that bad, plus free salad.

I couldn't do that. I don't see the point in associating with people you dislike or who annoy you. Even if they are work colleagues.

I don't like doing it, indeed if I was just a colleague and not their team leader then I wouldn't. But in my position it helps to go out with them and buy a drink or two to keep them onside.

Tom, do you mind me asking who you work for? Or what they specialise in?

I'd rather not divulge too much regarding company name, etc. I'll just say that we're a fairly small Leeds based company who deal with car warranty. In the company there are just three teams, and altogether only around fifty members of staff. We deal with warranty for expensive cars, so basically all the clients we have and try to contact are rich tossers.

Quiet you.

That's completely understandable. So, now we know why Tom needs to keep his staff onside. Happy staff = more bonuses for Tom :D.

It's as much for my privacy as the clients, hence why I just don't bring my work up much.

God only knows how I've managed to rise so far in the company so fast. :D

Tossers like tossers, it's a well known fact . You walked into that one.

Me & the other half are going to Washington Galleries today. Some very nice shops there (hint to Cleon if he ever needs to go shopping). Starting to do some Christmas shopping.

You what?!

That word, errrgh :(

Is there? You're not the first person to tell me that in the last few weeks. Might have to check them out.

Playing Warcraft waiting for Soccer AM, then watch Swansea game

There is indeed. They have a shopping centre which they were doing building works on the last time I was there, but the shops were still open. They have an indoor market part and a newly built part which is similar to Team Valley. Quite a wide range to be honest.

My other half has taken herself and the children to her mothers for the weekend 110 miles away. I have no work until Tuesday. Now usually to a normal person this could mean wild parties etc.

I am going to watch Swansea everton, go to the gym , go shopping then settle down to a night boxing on the telly. Then Sunday I go to watch my son ( who doesn't live with me) play football, a cup match. Then me and the boy will come home, play a bit of FIFA and wait for the rest of them to get back. Upon which my other half will make us all a chicken roast dinner.

Not too exiting for some, but for me that is almost a perfect weekend.

If I ever get an urge to go shopping I'll check it out. But I tend to send the missus shopping on her own or with her mum :D
