dafuge
I see you signed a Canadian, how good is he? And how is the Canadian national team doing? Craig Ricketts - he's a beast! Canada are ranked 73rd, but lack depth in their squad.
dafuge
Just looking at the transfers for your league i noticed you sold 2 players to city for £50M each! After all your success you must have a huge bank balance. Very good read, I've been inspired by this thread to start a save in Northen Ireland, although I highly doubt I'll have anywhere near as much success as this! Finances - they are probably as good as they have ever been after the recent sales.

dafuge
Bourneview Young Men - Carling Premiership - 2064/65 Things have been going well for clubs in Northern Ireland, so it was important that we kept up this success. League Table The big story was Glentoran recovering in incredible fashion thanks to a new manager. Domestic Cups - we were scoring for fun, but lost in the League Cup final. UEFA Super Cup - the early goal set up the win. FIFA Club World Cup - our finishing made the difference in this match. UEFA Champions League - we started with a shocker and had a couple of wobbles along the way, but made our way to the final again. It isn't often we are tested in the final, but Tobermore managed to push us all the way in the second all-NI final. Glentoran in Europe - this is one of the reasons they had a change in manager, hopefully next season will be an improvement. Linfield in Europe - they were flying in Europe, making it three NI clubs in the semi finals. Tobermore in Europe - some huge results showing that they are becoming a force in Europe. This should make them 2nd seeds for next season. Newry in Europe - they had a tough group and did well to finish 3rd. Squad - the squad has great balance, it is in great shape. Transfers - not a lot of action. Premiership Transfers - Tobermore continue to splash the cash. Key Player Profiles: Marcus Bickerstaff - just as I thought he'd lost it, he comes back in style. Avoiding injury made a huge difference. Kamil Moreau - a decent return from the record signing. Carlos Goossens - a great supporting striker. Ibán - I'm so glad I stuck by him. Jean Fevre - another player who has worked his way into the first team. dafuge
Bourneview Young Men - Carling Premiership - 2065/66 After another great year for Northern Ireland we looked to continue our superb run in Europe. League Table Glentoran struggled to keep up with the top four as we recorded our lowest point total for some time. Domestic Cups - not as convincing as previous years, but we won the lot. UEFA Super Cup - a narrow but deserved win. FIFA Club World Cup - a fairly one sided final. UEFA Champions League - things were going well but we had a couple of wobbles before finally losing in the semi final. We were desperately unlucky though, as Inter had a total of four shots, with two on target over the first and second legs. Glentoran in Europe - a win in their final game and they were through, but they blew it. Linfield in Europe - they also struggled in a tough group, and threw it away against Lille in the Europa League. Tobermore in Europe - superb stuff once again. Newry in Europe - they were so unlucky, going out despite finishing level on points with the group winners. Squad - the squad will need rebuilding as a number of players wish to leave for a new challenge. Transfers - a huge year for transfers, I just wish I'd known about the unhappy players before a I sold a few players. Premiership Transfers - dominated by us, but we gave Tobermore a bargain in Mirzaei. Key Player Profiles: Marcus Bickerstaff - another great season, he's back in goalscoring form. Carlos Goossens - I normally sell players before this age, but he is vital. Douglas - a decent fist season for the winger. Jean Fevre - he's been great, but he will probably be leaving. Simon Monteil - another star player probably on his way out. Ibán - and another. dafuge
Do you transfer list the players you want to sell or do they always have clubs interested? How do you sell them for so much? A bit of both really. Any player sold will be transfer listed first, but quite a few of them have had quite a bit of interest beforehand. The reason they get sold for a lot is because they are great players playing at the top of their game and on low wages.

yugo23
Losing in the Champions League is not good for Northern Ireland, so we badly need to win that back next season. Hopefully it won't hurt us too badly in the coefficients, we don't want to lose that extra spot. Actually it will do good for your coefficients. Here is the calculation. On average NI earns around 15 points every year, 105 points in total (there were 7 clubs almost every year). When you lose in CL final that is only 2 points less, and that 7th club would most likely do very bad in Europe, earning 2-3 points. That gives us 100 points total, divided with 6 equals 16.667 points! It's much more important to win every single game in Europe, than to win the competition. The only way you are indirectly helping NI coefficients by winning CL is that 4th team is earning more money from CL participation. Situation would change if you had 6th and 7th very capable club. dafuge
Only just noticed something a little bit odd. Cliftonville went into administration over the summer, then came back out of it without any points deduction. They haven't sold any players, but have managed to clear their debts and solve their financial troubles without any obvious penalties. To add to that, they are in the process of a board takeover so fingers crossed for another tycoon.

dafuge
Bourneview Young Men - Carling Premiership - 2066/67 We slipped us last season by losing the Champions League, so we badly wanted to win that back. Big changes to the squad would mean that it would be quite a tough task. League Table This was a shocking season for us, which is a result of the league getting better. Domestic Cups - some huge scores and a clean sweep. UEFA Champions League - we stumbled through the group stage but blew the competition away in the knockout rounds. Own goals helped us to an easy final. Glentoran in Europe - they were looking good but suffered a shock against Zenit in a game they could have won. Linfield in Europe - it was a great run until they met us. Tobermore in Europe - a great run but they were unlucky against Porto. Newry in Europe - a lot of good results, but they were unlucky to lose to Fulham. Squad - barely recognisable from last season, but still strong. Transfers - unhappiness meant it was time for a change, and a big one at that. Premiership Transfers - we dominated it. Key Player Profiles: Marcus Bickerstaff - another great season as he edges closer to the elusive 1000. Currently he's on 862 club goals, 956 including internationals. Kamil Moreau - still doing well, just not £55m well. Douglas - a great winger. Michel - another great winger. Sandrinho - not a bad season from the new striker. bigt_678
How do you consistently sell players for such high prices? And how can the other clubs consistently afford to spend £50m+ a season on your players? I try and sell my best players when they get to 29/30 and at the top of their game to let the younger players come through, but its a surprise to sell a player for over £30m, just looking for some advice!! I always try to sell key players at the top of their games who are on relatively low wages, it is also easier when you are the biggest club in the World. Transfer list, set squad status to not needed then continue to see the interest. Offer at a value suitable according to the clubs interested.
yugo23
Nice to see NI climb to 4th place. Can we get the UEFA coefficients screen again? If I am not mistaken, next season you lose a lot of points.

yugo23
Actually, you could be in 1st place in 2 years if all nations repeat performance from previous season.

I don't think that will happen now, Newry lost in their Champions League qualifier
yugo23
Even better, they will storm the Europa League! They are ranked 31st, that should be enough to be ranked 1st in the group draw.

dafuge
On which screen it's possible to see player's total career goals? It isn't, you have to add them all up manually
yugo23
But where can cup goals for previous seasons be seen? History screen only shows league goals.
Maw74
Don't post very often but I've been following and it has been another great game. Makes me look like a snail though, I've recently gone back to playing a FM10 save and I'm only coming to the end of my 30th season in my longest game. But where can cup goals for previous seasons be seen? History screen only shows league goals. You have probably found out now anyway, on that screen click a line to highlight a season and the full stats breakdown will show at the bottom. yugo23
Never thought of that before. :o There are so many small touches that could improve FM. It would be much better if there was dropdown menu on history screen, with options league, cup, etc. and overall.
dafuge
Just noticed something that happens when I face a small club at home in the cup: Moyola Park value before match - £175k Moyola Park value after match - £425k We are funding the lower leagues
Barnsley
i dont post often here but i always browse and follow this just caught up to the end cracking stuff! have you considered taking over N.Irelands national team? to improve the rankings? also what about donating some of your billions of pounds down the leagues to see if that helps them to become bigger? awesome thread as per Dafuge
dafuge
I did take over the national team for a while, but I got frustrated with the lack of talent coming through. I think they have actually done better since I quit! I've tried to play the game without directly influencing the other clubs, so I've avoided doing anything like that (as tempting as it is). The only help I've given them is selling some players to NI clubs, although they weren't sold that cheaply.
Jops14
Dafuge i just wanted to say i love this, i think i last posted about 30 years ago (?) lol, you also inspired me with a save of my own. I've contrived to make the hungarian league one of the best using the team that gave the world Ferenc Puskas - Budapest Honved. However i have to admit i have no where near the patience of you and after 15 years i took over another club to speed things along. Hungary is currently sat in 15th and i regularly qualify out of the group stages. Also i've had a conveyer belt of talent thanks to a hugely helpful board and currently have 2 hungarians who are 2 of the best in the world (one guy has a PA of 194!) I also take it upon myself to steal the bets Hungarian talent and develop it in my team, although a lot of players appear to have flourished after leaving my clutches. Also unlike you i have to say i help out the other clubs. If loads of clubs come in for one of my players i usually sell them to another hungarian club (unless its a huge offer). yugo23
Glad to see that many players are playing the 'league push' games. I just wish SI made some small improvements to better suit our needs. For example, I'd love to see continental competitions tab on league screen, where you could see at a glance what other clubs from your league are doing in continental competitions. Also on coefficients screen it wouldn't hurt to add one more column with number of clubs still in competition/total number of clubs that have entered.
