DJ
PSV beat Feyenoord 2-0 for the God-schaal. Could have been far more, Feyenoord had trouble finding enough players to form a team. No kidding: there were 4 youth players on the bench. Doesn't bode well for Feyenoords chances in the league. That were dim in the first place of course

DJ
After being effectively kicked out of Ajax by MvB (pretty ruthless stuff by San Marco) Kenneth Perez has decided he wants nothing to do with football anymore. So he signed for Twente Kidding, I like FC Twente a lot, they play shexy football - good signing for them.

SI Staff Jeroen Thijssen Posted September 7, 2008 SI Staff Share Posted September 7, 2008 what second divison club in the eredivsie have the worse fans like in terms of hooligans? How can a second division club be in the Eredivisie? Hooligan scale is probably as follows; Ajax, Feyenoord, Utrecht, ADO, Twente, FC Den Bosch, PSV, Vitesse, NEC, Groningen... all teams have a bunch of idiots. it all depends really, Ajax has the most fans but therefore also the most hooligans. Most teams also hate Ajax... the aforementioned list is probably a mixture of actual happenings and media image. For example, the past 3 years there has been almost no ADO hooliganism, except for some minor violence - while we can all remember the Ajax attack and the Feyenoord riots at Nancy... If you're looking at Eerste Divisie / Jupiler League teams then probably FC Den Bosch and maybe Go Ahead Eagles who both have a reasonable following. VVV-Venlo perhaps... DJ
I'd put Feyenoord first, then group Fey and Ajax in a category all by themselves. Then move PSV and NEC a bit upwards - although NECs group is tiny, they're incredibly violent. But I'd say ADO is 'best of the rest'. You can wait for the next major riot to happen. And to say matches abandoned are 'minor'... I have to disagree with that.
SI Staff Jeroen Thijssen Posted September 8, 2008 SI Staff Share Posted September 8, 2008 PSV fans cause little trouble in general OK, they was the ADO - Vitesse incident... but in reality that was nowhere near a dangerous situation. I'm not making it good or even condoning it, but it was due to internal affairs. It had zero to do with rivalrous hooligans - we wanted Frans Adelaar out and this was a good way to get it done, in hindsight

SI Staff Jeroen Thijssen Posted September 14, 2008 SI Staff Share Posted September 14, 2008 Louis van Gaal should quit effectively immediately. He's a fantastic manager - but once the complete cohesion is gone, they can't bring it back -- it's not gonna work between the players and him (and vice versa) this season anymore. He's a fantastic manager - but once the complete cohesion is gone, they can't bring it back -- it's not gonna work between the players and him (and vice versa) this season anymore. Kinda weird, it's the players who begged him to stay when he wanted to leave last season, so you'd think their mindset would be OK. Yet, they seem to panic on the pitch. Trying too hard?
