SWaRFeGa
After noticing that Man City had moved into their third stadium (incidentally named after a "legend" who played four senior games in eight years) since leaving Maine Road, I was inspired to make a little list of the major new stadia in the game. Makes me think that the stadium-naming aspect of the game needs a little revamp! Some are dreadful... What have you come across in your own career? Ps. Nice to see that Palmeiras were big Fame Academy fans... milnerpoint
Ive not paid as much attention as you but i know Hearts are now in a 27,000 stadium called Hearts Stadium, East Fife are in a 12,000 stadium named after a legend, Annan just moved into a 10,000 stadium again named after a legend, Hibs have expanded Easter Road so its around 27,000 and Dumbarton have a 15,000 stadium name Dumbarton Park, i think Chelsea moved into Zola park or arena a few years ago but i havent really noticed any other english teams in new stadiums. Oh and my Aberdeen team now play in a lovely 57,000 seater stadium called McMilnerinio Arena My proudest day so far in FM!!

milnerpoint
hahahaha i wish!! Did anyone watch the Hearts vs Spurs game last night? They actually have a restraunt under one of their stands and the seats rise up so the folk eating can watch the teams warm up, the seats then go down when people are ready to sit in the stand, looks very cool. dafuge
I've always nagged about the lack of decent new stadium names in FM, usually linking this thread in the process. I've been meaning to get a list together, so here goes: Portsmouth - Cooper Stadium Fulham - Griezmann Stadium Arsenal - Fauvel Arena Man City - Tevez Park Aston Villa - Diego Arena Hemel Hempstead - Hemel Hempstead Stadium Chelsea - Lampard Stadium FC United - FC United Stadium York - Brown Arena Boston - Symons Stadium Crawley - Crawley Stadium Ebbsfleet - Ebbsfleet Stadium Leyton Orient - Smith Park Siracusa - Petersen Stadium Juventus - Juventus Stadium Udinese - Di Natale Arena Fiorentina - Jovetic Stadium Wolfsburg - Prager Arena Bayer Leverkusen - Gervinho Park Schalke - Sand Arena Hoffenheim - Huber Park Marseille - Marseille Stadium Lyon - Leo Arena Monaco - Ferry Arena Sochaux - Sochaux Stadium Seongnam - Seongnam Stadium Palmeiras - Palmeiras Stadium There's probably a few I haven't spotted but the new names seem to stick out like sore thumbs, which for me is a bit of a problem. It seems like far too many big clubs have stadia named after people and foreign clubs end up with English names rather than names like Stade Marseille. I remember that thread. Would love for it to be implemented. When I was granted a new stadium with Peterborough, I spent a while on googlemaps looking at the surrounding area - it the hope that I could at least change the stadium name with FMRTE. No such luck. BigHairyAndy
I spent a while on googlemaps looking at the surrounding area - it the hope that I could at least change the stadium name with FMRTE. No such luck. If you can get the unique ID could you maybe change it with a .lnc file? Seems to me SI's best option in this might simply be to give us the ability to "Nickname" stadia, or to actually change their names in game. That way if we see one we don't like, we're able to change it without them having to code the myriad possibilities we'd consider reasonable for each club. milnerpoint
yeah you can change the name of the stadium using an .lnc file, there are instructions in both the editors forum and other sites, i actually have the file downloaded at home that walks you through the process, it seems simple enough. BigHairyAndy
Also, are stadia ever named after the chairman in the game? Easier to imagine Abramovich Stadium than Zola Park. Even moreso with that megalomaniac loonie in Gorgie - what do you think the chances are of Jefferies Stadium now? Granted he's so mad he'd probably try to rename the city they play in as Rome if it wasn't already taken.

The 92nd Fish
My Torquay United side moved into the horribly named 'Jack Park' in 2016 with a capacity of 16,000. It'd be so much better if there was a section added to the database where various local areas/nicknames could be added to a city and the new stadiums drew from that aswell as former players. For example for Torquay you could have: Ellacombe Babbacombe The Willows Wellswood English Riviera (nickname of the area) etc. Better than having stadiums named after a player that played for the team for three seasons back in the 1990s, as much of a cult hero as he was. Krald
I've finally got a new stadium at Truro, I think Pearson Park has a ring to it. I like the current "naming after manager" stadium because I'm vain like that, but I admit more variety for other non-player managed teams might be good. Like perhaps the manager gets the "option" for it to be named after him, but gets to decide (based upon ambition) and otherwise it gets named after some street or something. Pangaea
Just hope it will remain "Old Trafford" for the remainder of my life too. My soul will shudder in disgust if it's ever called Coke Park, Nike Stadium, or any whored out names like that. Torres Park for Liverpool. That's a winner! I wish clubs in FM would much more often just keep the old stadium name tbh. It's a bit tacky with all these player names, or boring with so many <Club> Stadium/Park.
