The Next Big Thing

The media is always looking for the "Next Big Thing." Lionel Messi showed his class in the U-17 World Cup and then continued to perform beyond admirably for Barcelona and is now the best player in the world. Cristiano Ronaldo impressed Sir Alex Ferguson enough and then moved on to Real Madrid where he battles Messi for best player in the world honors. Before them, there was Ronaldo and Zidane, Cruyff and Platini, Maradona and Pele, in the attacking positions and Maldini, Cafu, Beckenbauer, Thuram, etc in defense, and Yashin, Schmeichel, Shilton, Kahn and more in goal. The goal for you is to become the "Next Big Thing." Do you have what it takes to be the "Next Big Thing"?

July 2010

Positional Report Goalkeepers:

It was a very slow first month for all players, and only 1 of our 7 keepers played in competitive matches this month. However, Daniel and Thordur Sveinlaugur Thordarson played in matches prior to July 1st. Neither allowed a goal in the matches that they played in, but Thordur was the only one to make any saves as the defense in front of Daniel didn't allow a single shot on target as San Jose defeated Chicago 2-0 in the MLS Open Cup Quarter Final. Thordur played in Tromso's first two Cup wins over Porsange (3-0) in the First Round and Harstad (2-0 aet) in the Second Round. The only keeper to play in the month of July was Oskar Henno who played in a 1-2 loss for Metalurg Donetsk at the hands of Zorya in the EpiCentre Premyer-Liha.

Player of the Month

A great month from Glenn Crane sees him labeled as "The Next Big Thing" for the month of August. He played in 4 matches for Scunthorpe and scored 2 goals and providing 1 goal and winning a man of the match award. The only blemish was a yellow card he received in the Carling Cup loss to Bolton. Will he be able to keep this up for the whole season? Only time will tell. Tune in for more. Honorable mention goes to Oskar Henno, Valentino Beklav, and Jimmy Grimble who all currently lead their positions.

I am busy for the next few days so the next update might not be until the weekend.
