Twellman24
So I dont have that Lion thiny, but Steam still downloaded something and now FM is not opening. WTF? I cant play FM now? Come on.
Twellman24
I really wish you guys would stop screwing with my game. Im so fed up with Steam.
Twellman24
OK, so I officially cant open FM because of some stupid issue with the update you guys did. Thanks for spoiling the only time I had to play it. I hope this is solved by tomorrow morning, and I hope the answer is in this thread. If you guys cant do updated without screwing other people, dont do them. Simple.
drewW
yeah, i seem to be having the same problem. just downloaded the update, and now every time i try to start it up it just starts going but then eventually stops responding.
Scab
Hm, still working on 10.6.8 for me. Maybe try clearing the game cache and settings..?
Twellman24
Where's the cache folder for Steam games? I still cant play the game. Seriously?
Henrik Östlund
I can't start the game from steam. Seems like it crashes the first time I try to run it and after that nothing happens when I try to start the game from steam.
Scab
Where's the cache folder for Steam games? Check this post: http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php/233554-Football-Manager-2011-FAQ?p=6066663&viewfull=1#post6066663
SI Staff Ant Farley Posted July 13, 2011 SI Staff Share Posted July 13, 2011 Can you try removing the 'Sports Interactive' folders from the following locations: User > Library > Preferences & User > Library > Caches And then right click FM11 in your Steam Library, selecting 'Properties' and then use the 'Verify Integrity of Local Cache' option. Let me know how you get on, thanks.
Twellman24
I'll try when I get back home.

SI Staff Ant Farley Posted July 13, 2011 SI Staff Share Posted July 13, 2011 drewW could you try right clicking the game in your Library and selecting 'Delete Local Content' and then re-install and see if it launches then. Thanks

SI Staff Ant Farley Posted July 13, 2011 SI Staff Share Posted July 13, 2011 Can I ask what your setup is like please. What are your machine specs etc? We need to identify what is causing the issue for you as it isn't affecting all Mac users.
angelotti21
I have had the same problem with FM2011. It says I am playing the game but the game does not load. I have tried everything to no avail. Also I have to force quit Steam every time I try to quit Steam.
SI Staff Ant Farley Posted July 13, 2011 SI Staff Share Posted July 13, 2011 Angelotti21, is this the case after a machine reboot and have you tried the steps above?
Kishen12345
I have the same problems, i've tried rebooting, deleting the game, deleting steam, re installing i've tried all i can think of since i updated this morning
drewW
Macbook with OS version 10.5.8. 2.4 GHZ Intel What other info do you need? I'm not super computer literate. (GOOOOOAAAALL USA!)
angelotti21
I've rebooted my computer, restarted Steam, verified the cache, reinstalled Steam, and repaired the disk permissions. The problem happened after Steam updated itself yesterday. I just finished playing FM2011 for 3 hours, closed Steam. It updated. Then an hour later I tried to load FM and it didn't start. I am on a Macboox running Mac OSX 10.5.8 and everything is updated.

Twellman24
I have Mac 10.5 too. Obviously you guys did something wrong with the mac update. Last night I uninstalled both Steam and FM and tried again, no luck. How ironic that an update made for Lion users to play FM leaves us without being able to play. Come on. Clearyg
Im in the exact same situation as drew and angelotti, running 10.5.8. very frustrating for all people who have purchased the game through steam.

edfranks
Same problem here tried uninstalling steam and football manager, updating software on my computer, verifying the cache, turning the computer on and off. Nothing seems to work, but it worked fine yesterday.
bianconeri96
Chen7403, what is your OS X version ? It seems like all affected users are running Leopard 10.5 Snow Leopard users 10.6 seems to be reporting that it working fine for them. Actually on 10.5.8 myself, I'll upgrade to Snow leopard tomorrow and see if it makes any difference.
mcfcdean
if you have to upgrade to snow leopard i'm not paying again to play this friggin game.
Clearyg
bianconeri, the issue is definetly with 10.5. but we all shouldnt have to go out an upgrade to snow leopard to play the game. i was running 10.4 when fm2011 came out and had to upgrade to 10.5 to get the game working. there was no problem yesterday so whatever they did yesterday has caused this.
SI Staff Ant Farley Posted July 13, 2011 SI Staff Share Posted July 13, 2011 Again, apologies for the issue guys. We'll look to get this sorted as soon as we possibly can.

jhitts08
I had the same problem. I tried installing the patch manually, which was probably a bad idea. Because now the game will start but it won't let me play without purchasing/activating the game again. I tried putting in my old activation code but that didn't work. What do I do now?
Scab
Uninstall and do a fresh install from Steam. You can't use the non-Steam patches on the Steam version. EDIT: Actually, simply right-clicking the game in Steam and verifying local cache may work, but if that doesn't do it, yeah, reinstall.
FMtillidie
have you ever run the game on it?

I tried that. It didnt work. Surely we wont have to spend all weekend like this. I know FM is one of the few games that provides updates through the year, but it is also the only game where I can buy a game, play for six months, then not be able to play it. Vemundo
I got the same problem as the rest. Also running Leopard. And now when I finally had some spare time.
Clearyg
Dont think there is anything we can do ourselves to fix this. Seems to me that the game is no longer compatible with 10.5 and Sports Interactive are working to fix this.
Scab
I tried that. It didnt work. Oh, that was just meant for jhitts08 about restoring an "activatable" version after patching Steam with a non-Steam patch. Clearyg is most likely correct on the 10.5 issue. arsenalfan
I'm having this problem too. Hope it gets fixed soon....don't think I'll be buying with steam next year.
