Stan petrov
Could someone explain how not guilty was correct? I hate to be an arse, but they were heard singing the sectarian songs. Guy from UEFA says Rangers got off light because of recent efforts to eradicate the problems too, so isnt that a victory in a way, even if found guilty? deerokus
i thought the judgement was more that 'hey they can do it because it's an accepted part of scottish culture, so it's not our place to get involved'. which was embarassing.
TM
UEFA's first judgement was "sectaranism is a Scottish social problem" which they didnt really want to get involved in cause it's our problem (which it basically is) as you mentioned there has been stuff done by Rangers to eridicate problems, but in my opinion it's a disease that will never die - so one of us will get caught and done in the near future. As much as I hate these sort of debates as they usually go for ages, stopping this sort of behaviour must start with education cause people who are at Ibrox/Parkhead drum it into their kids then they grow up and drum it into their kids and so on - and dont tell me Celtic are innocent in this, we are both in this together unfortunately fans were heard singing the songs but UEFA didnt want to get involved, but the Austrian decided to put his face in and we got done for more cash, but not the closed stand that he was hoping for

As for the UEFA verdict, I always took the point of view that the chanting wasn't directed at anyone - had we made monkey noises at Senna, then we'd rightfully have been hammered for racist chanting. However, our songsheet is a bit more ambiguous, as UEFA initially rightly saw the singing of those songs as something that's been ingrained in Scottish culture for decades, as opposed to being directed specifically at any Catholics on the playing field. It's opened a huge can of worms anyway - I fully expect Celtic to be hammered once the "away support" makes their voices heard next season.

Vidmar
http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=390196&CPID=24&...na+wants+Pompey+move Cameroon international Achille Emana has confirmed he is close to joining Portsmouth. The 23-year-old has been scouted closely by Pompey in recent weeks and manager Harry Redknapp made a personal check on him earlier this month. The likes of Arsenal and Everton have both monitored Emana's progress over the past year, but Pompey have now made their move to land the highly-rated Toulouse midfielder. Emana admits a move to Fratton Park appeals and he is hopeful a deal can be done. We were linked to Emana last week as an alternative to the pricey Zakora.
