Robert the Spud
May be a stupid question, but was wondering if it were indeed possible to retrieve a save file i deleted(by accident) a few weeks ago, ta.
snootyjim
There are a variety of bits of software that can recovery deleted files. Googling file recovery will bring up tonnes of them. Problem is, since it was a few weeks ago, it's virtually guaranteed that you've overwritten the part of the disk where it was previously stored, especially because savegames are so big, so it won't be possible to retrieve. You can try if you like, but I would think it's impossible. In such a situation, the normal guidance is to switch off immediately and use another computer to search the disk to avoid any further writes that would destroy the deleted data. Pangaea
Try some recovery software. You may get lucky. You can try a demo of GetDataBack for example. It checks your disks and if the file is there it should be recoverable. But you need for pay for that. Maybe there are totally free software like that around though, not sure. snootyjim
Yeah, there are hundreds of them. I think one of them is called Free Undelete or similar. Nonetheless, I think lucky is an understatement.
Didaro
Yes, you can easily retrieve the file as long as it hasn't been overwritten. If you're not anywhere near maxing out your drive space then you should be able to recover it, but if you're close to your max capacity you're probably not going to be able to recover it. As mentioned previously, there are many free programs which which will allow you to see if the file is recoverable and will recover it for you. If it is recoverable and you choose to retrieve it, just remember that it's best not to restore the file immediately to the same drive it's being recovered from. Some of the free programs don't mention that, some do. If you have a USB drive you can move it to and then move it back that's the best way. Good Luck. ashley001
You can also use efficient data recovery software called Remo Recover (Mac) - Basic Edition software to recover deleted files on Mac system. The software can recover deleted or lost files from almost all types of storage devices including hard drive, memory card, external hard drive, flash drive, etc. You can download and instll demo version of the software in your system to evaluate chances of recovery.
