Richard Keys and Andy Gray are sitting in the Sky Sports studio.

RK - Good evening everybody as you join us for what promises to be a nail-biting encounter between Scotland and the Czech Republic as Berti’s boys try to make history by reaching the knockout stages of the World Cup for the first time. Will they make it Andy?

AG - I think they will. Don’t forget, this is a team that was good enough to get to the Euro 2002 final where they just lost out to Denmark in extra time. I fancy that they’ll get a result against the Czechs tonight.

RK - So do we all I’m sure. But let’s start with a look back at the other group games that have been played since we were last with you.

AG - There’s been a lot of action. In Group C Russia beat the Ivory Coast 1-0 and Germany overcame Uruguay 3-0. Mind you that game turned on a sending off. Germany had a narrow 1-0 lead when Paolo Montero was dismissed when he picked up a second yellow card in the 77th minute. Germany scored twice more before the end to put a gloss on the final score. So Germany and Russia both have 4 points and Uruguay have 3. In Group D, Ireland had a good 2-0 win over Senegal and Spain beat Japan 2-0. So again we have Ireland and Spain on 4 points and Senegal on 3 with everything still to play for.

AG - Group E saw Brazil get back on track with a 3-1 defeat of China and the USA shocked Portugal by winning 3-0. All 4 teams now have 3 points in an incredibly tight group. Holland had their second straight win in Group F, beating South Korea 3-1 and look sure to go through. Yugoslavia still have a chance after a narrow 1-0 defeat of Morocco and it will all depend on their last match against the Koreans. In Group G a 2-1 win for Mexico has virtually eliminated Romania and England look sure to go through after Robbie Fowler gave them a 1-0 victory over Saudi Arabia. In Group H, France look home and dry after a 3-0 defeat of Paraguay and Finland recovered from their opening mauling by the French to beat Costa Rica 5-2.

RK - And now on to Scotland’s game tonight. What does the team look like Andy?

AG - Berti has rung the changes for this one Richard. Phil McGuire replaces Lee Wilkie, maybe because Wilkie is a booking away from a suspension. Christian Dailly is in for Michael Stewart with Berti going for experience there. Robbie Neilson replaces Jim Paterson, the Tottenham man just being rested I think. Kiegan Parker comes in for Stephen Pearson and Steven Craig starts in place of Kenny Miller.

Some interesting predictions there

World Cup 2006 Group B Game 3

Half Time

Scotland 1 (Craig 45) Czech Republic 1 (Berger 43)

RK - Honours even at half time. It looked like ending scoreless but then we had 2 goals in 2 minutes.

AG - We did, but there were a number of chances before that. This is very early in the game and Steven Craig knocks the ball into the area, Hampshire tries the shot and Peter Cech makes a great save. Sullivan almost caught out here as Tomas Rosicky hits the ball forward - I’m not sure if that was an attempted lob or an overhit pass but Sullivan had to back pedal quickly to make the save. A sustained spell of pressure from the Czechs now. Rosicky finds Koller - what a target man he makes - the header down for Heinz, good volley and good save as Sullivan touches it round the post. Rosicky whips in the corner, Nikl makes the header, Sullivan parries and Ferguson clears. Free kick to the Czechs now, Rosicky takes it, the wall does its job but Nikl picks up the loose ball and Sullivan has to save again. It’s Heinz now with a determined run but his shot was always going high. Rosicky with the run now, we’re finding it hard to close the Czechs down but the midfielder’s shot goes wide. It’s Patrik Berger showing what he can do now and we know he can hit them. He’s still going and how about that for a finish. But right on the stroke of half time we get a goal against the run of play. This is a lovely passing move, half a dozen players involved and Steven Craig applies the finish.

RK - Fortunate to still be on terms then.

AG - Definitely. The Czechs have made all the running and if it’s like this in the second half we’re going to struggle. We can’t seem to get hold of the ball in midfield and the defence are having to work really hard.

RK - Time for another break but we’ll be back with you at full time.

World Cup 2006 Group B Game 3

Full Time

Scotland 1 (Craig 45) Czech Republic 2 (Berger 43, Heinz 56)

RK - It was pretty much more of the same in the second half Andy.

AG - It was Richard. The Czechs making most of the running and Scotland having the odd chance or two. They looked strong straight from the restart. Vladimir Smicer has the first chance but his fierce shot is just too high. Smicer again, this one is on target but Sullivan blocks and Dailly clears. Smicer again, on the flank this time, sends the cross in, good header from Koller, Sullivan parries, Heinz picks up the loose ball but Robbie Neilson just nicks it off his toes - great play by the full back. Here’s the goal now. Heinz takes the pass from Rosicky and makes good ground but where are the tackles? He moves inside the box, Sullivan tries to narrow the angle but that’s a really good finish. And still we can’t get enough of the ball to mount any serious attacks. Koller outjumps McGuire, knocks it down to Smicer and he plays a quick through ball for Rosicky and the flag stays down. Sullivan off his line very quickly and he forces Rosicky wide and he can’t get enough curl on the shot - good play Neil. This is another great run by Heinz, it looks like he’s going all the way and Sullivan does so well to come out and make the save at his feet. Now here’s our first chance of the second half and we probably should have scored. Its Christian Dailly with the diagonal cross, good leap by Craig to get the header but Cech parries. Mark Kerr is on for Cosgrove and he gets to the loose ball first but a slight hesitation allows the keeper to recover and smother at his feet and the chance has gone. Time running out now, Fletcher’s on for Parker, he lays the ball back for Charlie Miller who goes for the piledriver but it balloons over the bar.

RK - Scotland outplayed tonight I’m afraid. We can take a look at the match statistics.

RK - So a disappointing loss. But because of the other result in the group Scotland still qualify.

AG - Yes, Italy beat Ghana 3-0 but it wasn’t good enough because of the Czech win. Here’s the final table.

AG - Argentina beat South Africa 2-0 to go through and Denmark made it 3 out of 3 with a 3-2 win over Colombia. They were 3-0 ahead and the Colombians came back strongly but couldn’t get the win they needed.

GS - So Berti, Scotland still win the group despite the defeat tonight.

BW - Ja, it is quite a surprise zat Italy are out. But ve vere outplayed tonight and it vas not a good performance by ze team.

GS - And now Argentina in the next round. How do you feel about that?

BW - Very excited Geoff. It is not very often zat you get to play one of ze best teams in ze vorld and I am looking forward to it very much.

GS - Well good luck in that one, I think you’ll need it.

RK - Final thoughts on the game Andy and your Man of the Match selection.

AG - I have to agree with Berti - we were simply outplayed and that was a real disappointment. Based on that showing I’m not too optimistic about facing Argentina I must admit. Man of the Match? - Neil Sullivan without a doubt. In my opinion he was the reason that we qualified tonight. He kept the score down otherwise we could have lost by 4 or 5 and then we would be out.

RK - Thanks Andy. Now the Argentina game is on Monday 26th at Dusseldorf so please join us for that one.

Richard Keys and Andy Gray are sitting in the Sky Sports studio.

RK - Hello and welcome. You join us tonight for one of the biggest World Cup games in Scotland’s history as they face Argentina in the second round, the first time that a Scottish team has ever progressed this far. But first, a review of how the other groups finished.

AG - Group C went more or less as expected. Germany won their last game 2-0 against the Ivory Coast and Russia beat Uruguay 3-1.

World Cup 2006 Second Round

Half Time

Scotland 1 (Parker 11) Argentina 2 (Crespo 2, 45)

RK - Well Andy, Crespo the tormentor for Scotland in the first half.

AG - Two killer goals there Richard, one at either end of the half. But Parker did really well to get us back into the game. We were caught cold with the opener though, let’s take a look. Riquelme picks up the ball in midfield and spots Crespo’s run. His pass is perfectly timed to break the offside trap and Crespo is clear. He shoots early and catches Sullivan by surprise - Neil will be disappointed with that I’m sure. Here’s another chance for Argentina as Veron picks up the ball, goes past Charlie Miller and unleashes the shot. Good save by Sullivan that time. But here’s the equaliser now. Parker picks the ball up in midfield. He goes past Veron, beats Fernandez and then goes past the challenge of Riquelme. And what a great finish into the top corner. That’s a great boost for the Scots. But Argentina always looked dangerous and Saviola and Veron both went close with shots from distance. A nice move from Scotland now as Jamie Buchan sends the ball into the area, Charlie Miller with the header and a good save by Cavallero. A chance for Kenny Miller now as he powers into the area and gets his shot away but Cavallero is there again. It’s Crespo with the ball again as it breaks loose on the edge of the area and that’s a good save by Sullivan - that was headed for the top corner. But here’s the killer goal now. It’s great play from Gustavo Lopez down the flank, a great cross and Crespo beats Sullivan to the ball to head home.

RK - On balance, a fairly well matched half with Crespo making the difference. Let’s hope that Scotland can turn it around in the second half. See you all at full time.

World Cup 2006 Second Round

Full Time

Scotland 2 (Parker 11, Craig 90) Argentina 4 (Crespo 2, 45, 54, 77)

RK - Well that’s the dream over for the Scots Andy but the scoreline doesn’t tell the full story.

AG - Not really Richard. There were a couple of turning points. Scotland, and Parker in particular, started the second half strongly. This is a strong run from Kiegan, he gets past Wernly and shoots from about 20 yards out, Cavallero totally beaten but the ball hits the post and comes back out. If that had gone it then things could have been quite different. Argentina on the attack now as Riquelme picks out Arca, good shot and a good save. This is Riquelme again, he’s everywhere for Argentina. A nice cross and Crespo sends it just wide. The same combination once again - Riquelme with the cross and no mistake by Crespo this time and that’s his hat trick. Scotland are chasing the game now and they are caught on the break as Crespo tests Sullivan again but Neil makes a good save. It’s a last throw of the dice by Berti know. Charlie Miller is replaced by Stephen Pearson and Michael Stewart comes off and Steven Craig comes on as an extra attacker. The final nail in the coffin now. The Scottish attack breaks down and Crespo is lightning quick to see the opportunity, he’s totally free and that’s a cool finish for his 4th goal. But credit to the boys, they kept coming forward and finally get a reward as Hampshire sees his header saved but it runs free for Craig to blast home.

RK - So a disappointing result in Dusseldorf them. A quick look at the match statistics.

RK - Thanks Andy. We’ll bid you goodnight after a disappointing end to the Scotland campaign.

Richard Keys and Andy Gray are sitting in the Sky Sports studio.

RK - Well Andy, after a pretty eventful World Cup let's take a look back at how the knockout phase progressed.

AG - OK Richard. Well as we know in the Second Round Scotland lost out 4-2 to Argentina with Hernan Crespo scoring all four goals. In the other games the Czech Republic beat Denmark 2-0 and Spain defeated Russia 3-1 with two goals from Diego Tristan and one from Raul. In the Far East showdown China had an excellent 2-1 win over South Korea, coming back from a goal down after 20 minutes. An early goal from Thierry Henry was enough for France to ease past England 1-0 with Sven's team not managing a single goal attempt in the entire 90 minutes. However, Ireland gave us something to cheer about with a terrific 3-1 win over Germany in a cracking contest. Michael Ballack put the Germans ahead after just 8 minutes but Robbie Keane equalised two minutes later. Sean Coyle and Steve Finnan both found the net in the second half to put David O'Leary's boys into the Quarter Final. In one of the biggest upsets of the round Holland lost 2-1 to the USA with Greg Vanney scoring the winner with a couple of minutes remaining. In the final game of the round Finland sneaked past Mexico 2-1 win an extra time golden goal.

In the Quarter Finals France overcame China 4-1 with Henry scoring twice but they had Patrick Vieira sent off near the end. The Czech Republic had a narrow 1-0 win over Spain with young keeper Petr Cech playing a blinder to keep the Spanish attack at bay. Ireland's dream came to and end when they lost 2-0 to Argentina with goals in the first and last minute and Shay Given repelling all comers in between. Finally Finland gave the USA a taste of their own medicine, winning 2-1 with an 87th minute decider.

In the first Semi Final a very even game between France and the Czech Republic was settled by a single goal from David Trezeguet to put Les Blues into the Final. They were joined by Argentina who beat Finland 3-1. The Czechs won the Third Place Playoff on penalties after the game ended 1-1. In the Final France played some superb football to beat Argentina 3-1 thanks to two goals from Trezeguet and one from Henry.

RK - Thanks Andy. Henry and Crespo finished as top joint scorers with 7 goals each. And there has been quite some fallout on the mangerial front with Portugal, Italy, Germany, Uraguay, Brazil, Yugoslavia, England and Romania all seeking new managers. We hope that you've enjoyed the coverage provided by Sky Sports and that you'll join us later in the year for the Euro 2008 qualification programme.

Richard Keys and Andy Gray are sitting in the Sky Sports studio.

RK - Good afternoon and welcome to our coverage of Scotland's first Euro 2008 qualifying game, a home tie against Estonia. A win today would get their campaign off to a great start and the U21s gave a great example to the seniors last night Andy.

AG - They did indeed as they demolished the Estonian youngsters 4-0. John Slaven of Rangers and Kevin Hughes of Man City both scored twice in the first half.

RK - What's the Scotland's team news for today's game?

AG - Well Neil Sullivan has been withdrawn from the squad because of injury so Jamie Langfield plays in goal. McGuire and Wilkie are the back two with Stephen Crainey coming into the left wingback position. Barry Ferguson is back to full fitness and the captain is partnered by Darren Fletcher. Kiegan Parker plays behind a front two of Steven Hampshire and Steven Milne with the Inverness Caledonian player gaining his first full cap.

Euro 2008 Qualifying Game 1

Half Time

Scotland 2 (Milne 2, 30) Estonia 0

RK - A fairy tale start for the new boy up front Andy.

AG - Unbelievable Richard, you couldn't write this script could you? Less than two minutes on the clock and he scores the opening goal. Let's take a look. Nice build up from the back here, Stewart to McGuire to Wilkie, patient play, looking for the opening. Now on to Ferguson, he plays it on to Hampshire, a lovely ball in and a firm header from Milne. Simple but effective. Here's the second one now. It starts at the back again with Michael Stewart providing that all-important link between defence and attack. He finds Fletcher, on to Ferguson, then Hampshire. Now look at Stewart, that's an intelligent run and Hampshire finds him with a neat pass. Stewart with the cross and Milne with the header.

RK - So 2-0 up and looking comfortable.

AG - Yes. Estonia haven't threatened at all so far and we're controlling the midfield very well.

RK - Well let's hope that the second half holds more of the same. We'll take a break but we'll be back after the second half commentary.

RK - Another two goals in the second half Andy and an excellent win to start the campaign.

AG - A terrific performance all round Richard.

RK - And a hat trick from Steven Milne - has Berti found the solution to his goalscoring problem?

AG - It's a bit early to say that Richard but the signs are encouraging. We'll see the goals now. Good build up play between Wilkie and Stewart again as the ball is moved on to Fletcher. He picks out Hampshire who spots Parker's run and plays a perfect pass, Parker takes it in his stride and finishes superbly. Milne's third goal now and it was the best of the bunch too - a great solo effort. Lovely control to bring the ball down and go past the defender in a single move. Easily beats the second defender and he gives Mart Poom no chance with the finish.

RK - Right, let's go over to Hampden and get the reaction of Berti Wogts who is talking to Claire Tomlinson.

CT - What a great start to the Euro 2008 campaign Berti.

BW - Zank you Claire, it is indeed a much good win for us I zink.

GS - And a hat trick for Steven Milne on his debut.

AG - The only other game in this group saw Sweden gain a narrow 1-0 win in the Czech Republic. The goalscorer - Henrik Larsson of course. Scotland head the group at present and Wednesday's game in Stockholm could be one of the most critical in the group.

Richard Keys and Andy Gray are sitting in the Sky Sports studio.

RK - Good evening and welcome to our tonight's big game as Scotland travel to Stockholm to take on Sweden in an important Euro 2008 qualifier. Let's hope that they have more luck that the U21s did last night Andy.

AG - Let's hope so Richard. They lost a very even game 2-1 and considering that keeper John Orr was sent off after 38 minutes they did very well. He was dismissed for bringing down a forward in the area and Sweden converted the penalty to take the lead. The influential Kevin Hughes was missing through injury but his replacement Gary Mitchell of Fulham did well in his place. Partick Thistle player Stuart Hughes came on as a substitute and grabbed an equaliser with 20 minutes remaining. Then with just two minutes left on the clock Sweden scored a dramatic winner but we were definitely a bit unlucky.

RK - So how does the Scotland team look for the game tonight?

RK - So a draw wouldn't be a bad result then.

AG - A draw would be a very good result I think.

RK - Well thanks for the moment Andy. We'll take a short break and then join our commentary team in Stockholm.

Euro 2008 Qualifying Game 2

Half Time

Sweden 0 Scotland 1 (Ferguson 5)

RK - An excellent start for Scotland Andy.

AG - A great start yes and a very well contested 45 minutes. Scotland started brightly and were rewarded early on. Stephen Crainey puts in an excellent cross to the far post, Hampshire with a header back across the keeper. Hedman does well to get a hand to it but Barry Ferguson is first to the lose ball and it's 1-0. But Sweden didn't take long to create openings. Larsson and Ibrahimovic both had chances that they should have done better with and Langfield made good saves from Kallstrom and Ibrahimovic. And then right on half time Milne had a shot well saved for a corner and then got his head to the set piece to force Hedman into another fine save.

RK - So an even first half and we look forward to an entertaining second period. Time for a quick break but please rejoin us at full time.

Euro 2008 Qualifying Game 2

Full Time

Sweden 2 (Ibrahimovic 62, Larsson 65) Scotland 2 (Ferguson 4, Parker 73)

RK - An exciting 45 minutes and a fair result overall Andy.

AG - Aye, a draw was probably just about right on the balance of play. Sweden started the second half very positively. Zlatan Ibrahimovic tested Langfield early on and Jesper Blomqvist went close with a half-volley that went just over. But then they scored twice in three minutes to send Scotland reeling. A nice interchange between Kallstrom and Larsson who times his pass to Ibrahimovic perfectly and he finishes really well. Parker had a good chance straight from the kickoff but his header was well saved by Hedman. A quick throw out from the keeper and some slick passing carved open the Scotland defence before Larsson scored his 30th goal for his country. Now this is a key moment. A free kick to Sweden in a dangerous position. Kallstrom sends the ball in, a great header by Ibrahimovic and what a save by Langfield. If that one had gone in it was game over. Now talk about an inspired substitution. Mark Kerr comes on for Stephen Cosgrove and within a minute of his introduction he sets up the equaliser. He picks up the loose ball and makes a first time pass to Parker who volleys home. Langfield made two more important saves from Ibrahimovic and Selakovic and Hedman saved well again from Parker before the end.

RK - So all in all a good result. We can go over to Stockholm where Geoff Shreeves is waiting with Berti Wogts.

GS - A little disappointed with the draw Berti?

BW - Not at all Geoff. I zink zat on balance it vas a fair result und Sweden are a very difficult team to beat.

GS - Barry Ferguson had a fine game in midfield for you..

BW - Ja, Barry is our captain und he always plays very vell for us.

GS - Another game in a month at home to Northern Ireland. You must be confident of winning that one.

BW - I am sure zat ze Irish boys vill vork hard und it vill not be an easy game but I hope zat ve vill get a good result.

GS - Thanks Berti and good luck in the next game.

RK - And now for the match statistics.

RK - And what about Man of the Match Andy?

AG - Well as Geoff said Barry Ferguson had an excellent game in midfield but I'm going to go with Swedish left back Erik Edman. He did a lot of hard work for Sweden in defence but was always on hand to give them an outlet down the left.

RK - Thanks Andy. And as Geoff also said, Scotland's next game is in a months time at Hampden against Northern Ireland. The Irish had a good 2-2 draw at home to the Czech Republic tonight. That result means that Scotland still head the group on goal difference over Sweden. We hope to see you all again in October for the game at Hampden but until then goodnight from Andy and I.

Richard Keys and Andy Gray are sitting in the Sky Sports studio.

RK – Hello and welcome to our coverage of Scotland’s Euro 2008 qualifier against Northern Ireland at Hampden Park. Andy, the U21 result last night was a good omen for today’s encounter.

AG – I hope it was Richard as they had a very good 4-0 win. Andy Fisher of Rangers was impressive up front, scoring twice in the first half before retiring with a groin strain. John Slaven, also of Rangers, and Stoke’s David Christie added two more in the second half.

RK – And what about the lineup for the seniors today?

AG – Martyn Corrigan of Coventry comes into defence with Stephen Pearson of Aston Villa coming into midfield. Barry Ferguson is being rested and takes a seat on the bench. Likewise Parker is absent and Darren Fletcher plays behind the front two. Up front Steven Milne is out injured so Steven Craig comes in and Paul Shields is preferred to Steven Hampshire.

RK – On paper this should be quite an easy game for the Scots.

AG – It should be Richard but as we know the game won’t be played on paper. The Irish had a good result last time out against the Czechs and they’ve one or two decent players in the team. Owen Morrison of Sheffield Wednesday is a good striker and Stuart Elliot of Newcastle is always dangerous out on the left.

RK – But you still expect Scotland to win.

AG – I expect them to win comfortably Richard.

RK – Well thanks for the moment Andy. We’ll take a short break and then we’ll be back at half time for a review of the action.

Euro 2008 Qualifying Game 3

Half Time

Scotland 1 (Craig 23) Northern Ireland 0

RK – A lot of possession for the Scots Andy but not much to show for it.

AG – Indeed Richard. We dominated the half but just have Steven Craig’s goal as a reward. Ireland have packed the midfield and are obviously intent on defending deep and in numbers. There haven’t been many chances but we have been guilty of not hitting the target when there has been an opening. Paul Shields, Robbie Neilson and Stephen Crainey have all failed to hit the target from good positions. Maik Taylor has pulled off one stunning save from a Shields header and we had a good penalty claim turned down when Morrison slid through Pearson. But let’s take a look at the goal. A simple build up really, McGuire brings the ball out and is given plenty of time to pick a pass. Good ball over the top and we turned the Irish defence for once, Craig show a good turn of pace and a nice finish.

RK – How do you see the second half shaping up Andy?

AG – More of the same from both teams I expect. Scotland will need to build on their possession more effectively but need to look out for Ireland hitting them on the break.

Euro 2008 Qualifying Game 3

Full Time

Scotland 1 (Craig 23) Northern Ireland 1 (Morrison 53)

RK – That’s a disappointing result for Scotland Andy.

AG – Very poor Richard. The game should have been killed off but we were left wanting in front of goal I’m afraid. Let’s take a look at the Irish goal. The veteran Neil Lennon picks up the ball in midfield and immediately spots Morrison’s run. Nice control in the wet conditions but the marking was bit poor and he’s taken full advantage. He keeps his shot low and the ball seems to pick up pace on the wet surface. A poor goal to concede from Scotland’s viewpoint though.

RK – And a lot of chances went begging in the second period.

AG – There were. Fletcher, Shields and Craig all came close with efforts that just shaved the top of the bar but they really should have hit the target and worked the keeper – especially in these wet conditions.

RK – Not a good result then. But let’s go over to Glasgow where Geoff Shreeves is waiting with Berti Wogts.

GS – A very disappointing result today Berti in a game that you should have won.

BW – A little disappointing Geoff Ja, but zumtines zese zings happen in football. Und today was just not our day.

GS – The strikers were poor today and they cost you two points didn’t they?

BW – Nein, I cannot agree vis zat. Zey played vell und ver not haffing any luck. On anozer day zey vould haff scored 3 or 4.

GS – So how do you view Wednesday’s game in Czechoslovakia after this result.

BW – It is a big game, but zen all of ze group games are important. I am confident zat ve vill get a good result

GS – Thanks Berti and good luck in the next game.

RK – And now for the match statistics.

RK – And what about Man of the Match Andy?

AG – To be honest nobody really took the game by the scruff of the neck and controlled it but Robbie Neilson had a good performance at the back, always looking to come forward and make chances.

RK – But the good news of course is that Sweden were held to a 2-2 draw in Estonia. In fact their equaliser came from the penalty spot in the 90th minute so they had a luck escape there. That leaves the table looking like this.

RK – Well we’ll be back with you for that encounter in just 4 days time so until then, goodnight from Andy and I.

Richard Keys and Andy Gray are sitting in the Sky Sports studio.

RK – Good evening. Nice of you to join Andy Gray and myself as we look forward to coverage of Scotland’s Euro 2008 qualifier against the Czech Republic in Prague. The juniors showed the way last night then Andy.

AG – Didn’t they just – an impressive 4-1 win and a very strong team performance. John Slaven found the net again with Scott Johnston of West Ham adding the second before the break. Then Aberdeen’s Calum McHattie scored twice in the second half.

RK – Well fingers crossed that the seniors can repeat that sort of scoreline tonight. What does the teamsheet look like Andy?

AG – Lee Wilkie is restored to central defence, Rangers pairing Charlie Miller and captain Barry Ferguson are in central midfield, Kiegan Parker is back in his favourite spot behind the front two and Steven Hampshire replaces Paul Shields up front.

RK – How do you see this one panning out Andy?

AG – Very tough I feel. The Czechs really have to get a win to get their qualifying campaign going and I think that we’ll really be up against it tonight. Tomas Rosicky is one of the best midfielders in the world and young keeper Petr Cech will be difficult to get past, especially with our notorious weakness in front of goal.

RK – So would a draw be a decent result.

AG – If I was Berti I wouldn’t look for the draw but if that’s how the game ends then I wouldn’t be too disappointed.

RK – Well thanks for the moment Andy. We’ll take a short break and then we’ll be back at half time for a review of the action.

Euro 2008 Qualifying Game 4

Half Time

Czech Republic 1 (Rosicky 36) Scotland 2 (Craig 24, 27)

RK – Well Steven Craig got the Scots off to a terrific start Andy.

AG – He certainly did Richard. Two goals in three minutes just before the half hour mark. Here’s the opener. It’s a free kick to Scotland in a dangerous position. Stephen Crainey sends the ball in and that’s a great leap by Craig to get to the ball before Petr Cech. Now his second goal. Parker picks out Hampshire in the area but Cech is off his line quickly to make the block and the ball goes out for a throw in. Quick thinking by Robbie Neilson as he takes the quick throw and finds Craig. The defence hesitate as he was standing in an offside position but of course you can’t be offside from a throw in. Just the keeper to beat and he hits it low across his body and that’s a lovely finish.

RK – But what about the Rosicky goal?

AG – Simply brilliant. As good a goal as you’ll see in my opinion. He receives the ball with McGuire tight on his back but what a piece of skill as he nutmegs the big defender. Then he goes past Stewart and Parker as though they’re not there and that’s an unstoppable shot. Marvellous goal.

RK – Can Scotland hold on in the second half Andy?

AG – I don’t see why not. We’ve looked pretty solid at the back and I fancy that we could nick another goal.

RK – Well let’s hope so. We’ll take a short break and see you all at full time.

Euro 2008 Qualifying Game 4

Full Time

Czech Republic 2 (Rosicky 36, Heinz (pen) 65) Scotland 2 (Craig 24, 27)

RK – That’s a real shame about the Langfield sending off Andy.

AG – It is Richard. I thought that he was a little unlucky but let’s have another look and see what you think. Ulrich I think it is with the through ball for Jankulovski and as Langfield rushes off his line he does seem to make some contact. But to my mind the player never had the ball under control and he certainly went down in dramatic fashion.

RG – You may have a case their Andy but the referee saw it differently. And having awarded the penalty then Langfield had to go.

AG – Deemed to be the last man, yes. So off comes Hampshire and on comes Paul Gallacher in goal. It’s Marek Heinz with the spot kick – no mistake there and it’s all square. Then Scotland shut up shop and held on for the draw. And I suppose in the circumstances it’s not a bad result.

RK – Yes, but still a shame to be pulled back from two ahead. Anyway, we can now go over to Prague where Geoff Shreeves is waiting with Berti Wogts.

GS – A great start for you Berti with Steven Craig putting you two goals ahead.

BW – Ja it vas very nice to score twice in three minutes..

GS – But then a wonderful individual goal from Rosicky before half time.

BW – Vell you know he is vun of ze best midfielders in ze vorld und he can score such goals.

GS – Did you feel that the penalty decision was a bit harsh.

BW – Maybe a little, but zen you haff to respect ze decision of ze referee as he is ze man in charge.

GS – Well thanks for talking to us Berti and we wish you all the best in you remaining games.

RK – And now for the match statistics.

RK – Who would you select as Man of the Match Andy?

AG – Rosicky didn’t do an awful lot apart from his goal so I’m going for our own Steven Craig.

RK – In the other game played in Scotland’s group Northern Ireland had an excellent 5-1 win at home to Estonia to leave the table looking like this.

<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">Pos Team Pld Won Drn Lst For Ag Won Drn Lst For Ag Pts

AG – Scotland top of the group for the moment but having played a game more than both Northern Ireland and Sweden that position certainly won’t last.

RK – Well Scotland’s next game isn’t until March of next year when they take on Estonia in Tallinn and of course we’ll be bringing you exclusive coverage of that encounter. So until then it’s goodnight from Andy and I.
