Let's hope the Irish finally shut up about Thierry Henry now...

Armenian keeper sent off for handball outside the penalty area. Didn't look like handball when I first saw it, and doesn't from any replay from any angle. In fact, I'd be tempted to say Cox controlled the ball with his arm before getting the shot away. Worst refereeing decision I've seen in....oh...about ten days

So I spend £500 on a new PC tower, and find that after just four days it is requiring a trip back to the shop as it won't boot.. I cannot describe how p*ssed off I am right now. Nothing goes right.

Well, at least the repair should be free!

(okay, I know that doesn't help much.)

Was it really cold at your house? the only reaction that I had was I can't believe I just watched that twice and I still can't see what was so special.

:D

It's special if it was your first world cup game :)

Never been much of a fan of the Banks save because we still lost.

Two of my favourites (that happened way before my time), are the Zaire guy who kicks the ball away at a free kick and Tardelli's mad celebration.

The biggest annoyance is setting up the last PC with all my files and installations, and now I've got to do it all again as all they did was hand me a new one. Meh. A total waste of a rare day off.

It doesn't help Gav at all, and it doesn't help with installations. But, DropBox solves the files thing. Install the client, walk away, come back and everything's there.

For me, DropBox + Steam means that I can move to a new PC fairly effortlessly--there are a few pieces of software that have to be installed (MediaMonkey, whatever Office or Office like thing I want to use, browsers, Trillian, whatever), but the heavy lifting of data files and games becomes a non-issue.

I love that. Although didn't the President of Zaire threaten to have the players beaten and tortured if they lost by certain amount of goals? I think I would have dug a hole and buried the ball in that scenario.

The first World Cup I can remember we weren't there! :D

So I guess the first real World Cup 'moment' I can recall was the crazy solo run and goal from that Saudi Arabian guy, made slightly overrated by the fact the defenders seemed to move out of his way inexplicably.

GD ? Go on GD ? Please God No !

But you are right about Steam.

Having said that I have now downloaded Steam to my laptop, and seeing as it was there I thought I'd do exactly what I said I wouldn't and I got the FM12 demo. I have to say I like the look and feel of the FM12 interface alot, and the tone thing in team talks scares me to death ! Looks like it's going to be a good game. Only nine days to go.

I'm pretty impressed with it out of the box so to speak, couple problems here and there but the most polished I have seen one.

Will be interesting to see how it goes on release and how many further bugs are picked up, especially with the adding/removing leagues.

I'll be buying it though.

One thing I was impressed with is the Steam price, if you go to a shop over here its 80 straight out.

I remember a few years back when I paid via paypal on steam it end up costing me around $120 was not impressed.

It's Cameroon, beating Argentina. Who were, at the time, World Champions. Who reached the final of that very tournament. It was only Cameroon's second ever appearance at the World Cup and it was their first ever win. It was a massive event.

It did indeed, sorted now and hoepfully you didn't click on the link. I deleted all the DMs and changed my password, which seems to have done the trick. Unfortunately, Offy seems to have fallen foul of the same hack, if he does the same thing (change password and delete DMs) he should rid himself of the spam. Sorry about that.

I find it staggering a team that has been as underwhelming as France have stumbled their way to a final. Can only hope they get smashed by either the All Blacks or Australia.

And now I need to remind myself to avoid this place like the plague for the rest of the day, given the lunchtime fixture.

No different to England doing exactly the same last time round. Horrendous through the groups and scrape to the final. Got to expect the Southern Hemisphere to win through still

If what has just happened with Sam Warburton is deemed a red card these days, I never want to watch rugby again.

Disgraceful decision, and way to ruin a semi final.

Given I don't watch enough Rugby hard for me to comment, it did look dangerous but probably harsh to send him off (sin bin should have been enough punishment).

Extremely, extremely harsh on Wales. By far the better team, particularly in the second half. That last penalty just dipping below the bar was gut-wrenching. Thought they would still pinch it, but France defended extremely well in time-on. Wales certainly deserved to go through, and would probably have made for a better opponent in the final.

As for tomorrow, Australia will have to play much, much better then the performance against South Africa to have even a slight chance of going through. On form, NZ should wipe the floor with the Aussies, but it's that 'old enemy' and 'the choke' scenario all over again. Should be interesting, looking forward to watching the match.

Very true. Then again, we managed to win our titanic tussle with Tonga that year.

Given I don't watch enough Rugby hard for me to comment, it did look dangerous but probably harsh to send him off (sin bin should have been enough punishment).

It would be churlish to deny its dangerous, but its an incredibly dangerous sport. Ten minutes in the bin and a French penalty, I think most people would accept that as a fair punishment, but a red card is just outrageous. It pushed the definition of 'robust' to the limit, but I didn't see any malice in it, he didn't drive him into the ground. I've seen far worse than that (the one that always sticks in my mind was Umaga destroying Brian O'Driscoll in the Lions Tour to New Zealand).

It's very sad, Wales were having a great tournament and for me Warburton has been one of the players of the tournament. But then again, I think had they deserved to win it, they would have done so even with 14. France defended well, and Wales screwed up at the death, you can't go through 20+ phases without someone dropping it, should have set Jones up for the drop goal much, much sooner.

Oh well, I'm sure New Zealand will do the business.

Was that a Liverpool-Man U game without any contentoius talking points? Just a fully committed, high quality game of football.

Nice to say that the referee did a very good job. Two handball penalty shouts weren't penalties in a million years. Ferdinand did get a touch on Adam so the free kick was fair. Arguments for a second yellow but I'm undecided there. Nice to see Evra getting the booking for mouthing off too.

Overall we just edged it but perhaps not enough to warrant a win. Perhaps just edged it before the first goal, but going completely on the back foot before the equaliser made that goal inevitable. Then it switched round completely in the last ten minutes. Never ceases to amaze how the same 22 players can produce completely different football when the scoreboard changes.

To mention a few players...

I hope the criticism of De Gea stops soon. Three or four top quality saves won the point there. Man U's man of the match without a shadow of a doubt.

Adam's name on the team sheet worried me, but he was actually really good, and looked like a Liverpool player for the first time I've seen. And I'm going to give yet more praise to Enrique. He just looks superb at both ends of the pitch and as good as Spain are, I think he's got to be closing in on a call up soon

I thought the first half was pretty poor, the second half however was pretty good.

Downing should have been booked for that horrendous dive in the first half, and I don't think Adam should have got a free kick.

It was the slightest of touches, Adam went down because he realised he over hit it and wasn't going to get near it, in my opinion it should have been play on, but by all technicalities it was there, but in saying that both penalties could have been awarded as well and if they had of been then we would be saying well to the letter of the law then yes you could have paid them.

But I agree the refereeing was pretty good tonight.

Still Giggs gave them the goal, I'm sure he'll cope a bit over that.

Overall though, Liverpool were the better side and are a little unlucky to not get three.

Thanks Sir Alex for royally f**king me over in the fantasy league.

edit: Well it wasn't really over hit on the replay, but he was going no where really and getting a free kick when on his wrong foot was a better option.

Mikey, is the Celtic squad as weak as it seems to look on paper?

Are you joking? There is a very good argument for us having the strongest squad in the league. That is what is so frustrating on days like today.

I'm gutted at the comeback. I thought at 3-0 down at half time that we'd be done for and as a result we'd see the back of Neil Lennon. F**CKED RIGHT OFF that he saved himself!

No no, genuine interest on my behalf. I don't watch Scottish football so I don't know how the side performs, plus I don't know all that much about the quality of the signings made by Celtic in the past year. And I didn't actually say it was weak, just that it looked it to me when I browsed BBC earlier. Fill me in!

I wish. We need a decent left back urgently with Capdevila on the way out and Arbeloa being his usual worthless self. Del Bosque has been trying Jordi Alba (Valencia) there in the last meaningless qualifiers, but José Enrique should be close to the top of the list of candidates to make it to the Euro. Yet he hasn't been called up in forever, not even for friendlies. Don't know why, it's not like del Bosque has a blind spot in the Premiership or something, and he plays in a position we need to fill, unlike in Arteta's case (poor kid). If he doesn't get a call-up in the following friendlies, I doubt he will until at least the World Cup qualifiers, and by then Alba could have established himself as the first choice there.

Now, what the heck am I doing posting here at 1:30AM? Sleep, sleep...

Oh dear. Fighting between Lancaster and Halifax fans so the ref has escorted the players from the field (groans).

Good result for Halifax, shame the shenanigans threatened to take the headlines.

Was very impressed with Droylsden. Taught my Stocksbridge boys a lesson in how to keep the ball. Should have been at least 6 or 7 to Droylsden. Not sure how they missed some of their chances.

It looks very likely I'll be going to The Butchers Arms next sat. Any hints on what to expect there? Sorry to hear you didn't get through anyway.

I can't wait for Monday's draw. I don't think we can draw Luton sadly because of the north/south divide. I seem to remember being disappointed by that last season.

They are very good at keeping the ball. They play a narrow diamond with the two full backs bombing forward. The left back has a great cross on him. Always got a spare man to pass to as well, tend to pass around in triangles. Probs won't be as effective against Halifax as it was against us as they are a lot fitter than us. If you've got a fast forward you could catch them on the counter as they was flirting with the offside trap a lot. But then the perfect man for that job has left you :p

Droylsden have always tried to play a passing game, when they're good they're apparently very good, but a few of the fans think that were a bit to slow sometimes getting the ball forward and that the team mess around with it to much.

It's been an up and down season for them this year, but generally we are good at home, although Pacey did make a few comments about Halifax earlier in the year so maybe that will inspire them.

Good morning/afternoon, all.

After spending five out of the last seven weekends on the road for radio, I'm about done with the second prelim round ballot (and yes, I know it's late. Sorry about that :( )

Anyhow, just about time to get your thinking caps on.

I guess it's safe to talk about the other RWC semi final now?

Overall, it went with the form-book. Australia were awful in the first 10-15 minutes and unlike South Africa, NZ took full advantage. After that, it was an uphill struggle. Australia did improve and played okay, but NZ defended very well and won key battles at the right moments. The hosts looked very good, and should crush an average France in the final. Disappointing for Australia, I had hoped for it to be a closer contest.

Hello. This question is specifically for my fellow Liverpool supporting bretheren, but obviously feel free to chime in if you either want to join in, or heap on some abuse.

Anyway, having said I wouldn't I have the FM12 demo, and I'm playing as Liverpool. Transfer budget is £2 million, so I'm looking about for some bargains........ Anyway what I'm trying to get at is that I've just signed James McFadden, a long way off fitness, but on a free transfer.

Does this make me a bad man ?

Quite possibly

Does this make me a mad man ?

Definitely

I've got the demo, but I've spent about 8 hours getting to grips with the user interface (it took me half an hour to work out how to get the assistant to compile a loan player report), and playing around with views (which I've managed to copy from FM11) and set pieces. Its probably 50/50 whether I even play a match before Friday at this rate
