Dutch Premier League European Places Play-Off, 2011-12 Season

Both rival sides had a chance then of making the Champions League qualifiers for next season. Merchants had the tougher task on paper as they took on PSV. Cove Bay, meanwhile, would come up against an in-form Vitesse side.

1st Round Results

Leg 1 - <pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">Merchants 0 PSV 0

Vitesse 2 Cove Bay 0</pre>

Leg 2 - <pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">PSV 3 Merchants 2 (aet - PSV win 3-2 on aggregate)

Cove Bay 4 Vitesse 1 (Cove Bay win 4-3 on aggregate) </pre>

Disappointment then for the Merchants as they now join the fight for UEFA Cup places despite taking PSV into extra time. Cove Bay, after a great second leg comeback, now face PSV in the next round hoping to secure that second Champions League spot.

2nd Round

Leg 1 - <pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">Cove Bay 1 PSV 1 Vitesse 0 Merchants 1</pre>

Leg 2 - <pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">PSV 2 Cove Bay 1 (aet - PSV win 3-2 on aggregate)

Merchants 3 Vitesse 2 (Merchants win 3-2 on aggregate)</pre>

This time, Cove Bay suffered at the hands of PSV despite also taking the game to extra time. As a result they will play in the UEFA cup next season. The Merchants win over Vitesse ensures they will be in the UEFA next season too. Head-to-head clash in the latter stages anyone? icon_wink.gif

N.B. Cove Bay's 1st round, 1st leg defeat to Vitesse incredibly marks the only game thye have ailed to score in all season! icon_eek.gif

2011-12 Season Domestic Round-Up

This time, I've decided to post the league tables along with details of any cup/other competition wins involvig our players.

Holland

Premier Division - confirmation of the European Places there and congrats to Robert Boyle on collecting a league winners' medal.

First Division - I'm sure Heinrich Kroeger will be happy about that!

Cup Final - congrats to Robert Boyle again on achieving the double with Ajax.

A good year for Robert Boyle was capped as he was named Dutch Player Of The Year.

England

Premier League - well done Ryca Roseau, who gets a Premeirship medal in his first season in England. Comiserations to Gregory le Quack, whose Sunderland side were relegated.

The league title wasn't the only medal for Roseau as he scored the opening goal to help Chelsea win the League Cup Final.

There was individual glory for Roseau too as he won thePlayers' Young Player Of The Year award.

Italy

Serie A - no league winners for the Treasure Islanders in Italy, though Craig Healy came close with Fiorentina.

Another case of nearly for Jason de Mire and Alfonso da Silva Santos as they finished on the losing side in the final of the Italian Cup.

Germany

Bundesliga - a much improved Köln side did well to finish 2nd with Adam Flash and a fit Captain Gingerbread helping the cause.

German Cup Final - heartache for Bobinho and Druce, who finished on the losing side, but joy for Cabinboy Pendros as he picks up his second German Cup medal.

France

Ligue 1 - no great successes here though Lille performed much better this season thanks in no small part to new boy Emilio Peralta.

Spain

La Liga - another case of close but not close enough for two Islanders as Denton and Israel finished runners up with Barcelona.

Europe

More runners-up medals here as Ryca Roseau lost out along with his Chelsea team mates in the Champions League Final.

A similar story for Jason de Mire as Inter were second best in the UEFA Cup Final.

World

Ball, Spud and Roscrow all featured as Liverpool emerged victorous in the Club World Championship.

That's all I've got time for for now. I'm off to Istanbul tomorrow for a week or so meaning there will most likely be no more updates until I'm back (though I may get the chance to log on to the forums once every so often). Player profiles will be the first things posted once normal service is resumed so, if you haven't done so already, use the code.... icon_wink.gif

Holiday? I wish - I was at a family wedding.... Great city though, fantastic just to be there really.

Back at home and ready to get going with the new look forum (updates to come as soon as I figure out what's what ;) ).

End of Season Profiles - Part 1a

'We'll get those Southerners next time!'

Alfonso da Silva Santos - had a good start to the season at Ajax, then found oppurtunities at Inter limited but should feature more next season.

Gregory le Quack - another season as 2nd choice keeper, he could only watch in despair as Sunderland went down. May not be there for much longer as his contract expires soon. Currently considering offers from Middlesborough, Derby, Sheff Wed and Lille.

Haowan - was playing well at Cove Bay before finally getting his wish and moving to Bayern Munich. First team oppurtunities have been very limted so far though and the player is already unsettled.

Jack Harrow - immediately established himself as no.1 choice at his new club and is already listed as a key player at Feyenoord.

End of Season Profiles - Part 1b

'We'll get those Southerners next time!'

Pablo Gonzaléz - the last remaining Merchant had another great season with 19 goals in the league and has now earned a continental rep.

Emilio Peralta - had no problems settling in at Lille as he immediately became a key member of the team. Establishing himself at international level too.

Rebel Israel - dominant at the heart of the Lyon defence before his big money move to Spain in January. Has held down his first team spot at Camp Nou and will be looking for medals next season (before his inevitable next transfer! ;)).

End of Season Profiles - Part 1c

'We'll get those Southerners next time!'

Roberto dos Santos - the striker enjoyed his best season at Nürnberg to date as the goals came easily in the league and in Europe. However, he began to feel restricted at the club and requested a transfer. Many clubs were interested and it was PSG who secured his services for next season with a 16mil offer.

Ryca Roseau - great debut season in England as the playmaker became an integral part of the Chelsea team, scored in the League Cup Final win, got voted Young Player of the Year and earned a new 61k p/w contract.

End of Season Profiles - Part 2a

'We are the champions, better than the North!'

Brendanio - 5 goals in 9 games at PSV was followed by a January move to Scotland where the striker was busy and amongst the goals.

Captain Gingerbread - an injury free season but not much time on the pitch. has the chance to shine on the Champions League stage next season though.

Craig Healy - the Fiorentina new boy became a permanent fixture in the first team straight away and played well enough to attract interest from AC Milan and Man Utd.

Paul Hart - another loan trip to Turkey brought 4 goals in 12 starts along with a nice tan and an elementary level of Turkish!

End of Season Profiles - Part 2b

'We are the champions, better than the North!'

David Sunderland - had a great season at Rangers and is being monitored by Bolton and Benfica at present.

Eduaddo - on loan at Bari, played a vital role in keeping them up and will look forward to first team action at the San Siro next time out.

Gwilym J. James - was a key figure in Newcastle's run to the Champions League. He won't be joining the Magpies for the campaign though as he has agreed an 18.75mil move to Liverpool.

Heinrich Kroeger - instrumental in helping Willem II earn promtion to the Dutch Premier but decided it was best to leave on a high and will wear the FC Twente keeper's jersey next season following a 950k move.

End of Season Profiles - Part 2c

'We are the champions, better than the North!'

Iker Reina - a frustrating season as his record of 35 conceded in 32 games was good but his team couldn't score and were reşegated from the Bundesliga. Unhappy about the team's failure to perform and considering his options for next season.

Jason de Mire - never really settled at portsmouth so jumped at the chance to go to Italy and play for Inter. Chances were limited there but he will be looking for more oppurtunities next term.

Rich Denton - made to right back slot his own and helped Barca to 2nd in the league. Could be on his way to his 6th club in 6 years though as Chelsea and Roma are expressing interest at present.

The Stig - had a great season in Mexico but one year in the sunmay be enough as his club have accepted a 4.8mil offer from Celtic and Man Utd, PSG, Stade Rennais, Benfica, Fenernahce, Galatasaray and Olympiakos are all interested.

Phew! That will do for today. If your profile's not up, it either means you haven't posted recently or you missed the quote and you'll have to wait until tomorrow...

Brendanio clearly loving the move to Rangers where he (I) finally got a consistent run of first team football and ended up with 16 goals in 22 games with an Ave. Rating of 7.59! I'm clearly more suited to Scotland where there's less of those dodgy Merchants seeking to sabotage my chances of first team football.

He plays 10 games and averages 6.45 and still 4 relatively good teams are interested :p

I hope he leaves Sunderland ASAP.

Rivals Clash: Southern Treasure Islands v. Northern Treasure Islands, International Friendly

Date: 04.06.12

Venue: The Pool Hall, Cove Bay (the re-named home of House Of Billiards :D)

The season wouldn't be complete without a dust up between our two rival nations. As usual, STI would be looking to show their supremacy while NTI would be looking for that elusive first international win.

The game was essentially over inside the first seven minutes as STI stormed out of the blocks and ripped thier stunned opponents to pieces. Bobihno opened the scoring on 3 minutes with a final solo effort. Jason de Mire won the ball straight from the kick-off and bore down on goal, where he was brought down by keeper Jack Harrow. The striker then scored from the resulting penalty. A shell-shocked Northern team could only watch in horror as Bobihno sliced through the defence once again and chipped the keeper from inside the box to add a 3rd with just 7 minutes on the clock. With the hard work essentially done, STI then sat back and kept control of the game. NTI managed to get a few chances in but the comeback never happened and the Southerners notched up another win over their Northern neighbours.

Final Score: Southern Treasure Islands 3, Northern Treasure Islands 0

North American World Cup 2014 Qualifying, First Round, Second Phase

With both our nations now established on the international stage, a bye got them through the first phase of matches and a seeding helped them avoid the big guns in the second phase. NTI were paired with St Lucia while STI would take on St Kitts & Nevis.

Northern Treasure Islands v. St Lucia

A 2-0 win away in the first leg put NTI in a comfortable position though the game was by no means easy. Despite scoring early, they had to wait until injury time for the second. It was a similar story in the second leg as NTI took no risks but gave a controlled performance to win 1-0.

First Leg Result: St Lucia 0, Northern Treasure Islands 2 | NTI Player Ratings & Stats

Second Leg Result: Northern Treasure Islands 1, St Lucia 0 NTI advance 3-0 on aggregate | NTI Player Ratings & Stats

Southern Treasure Islands v. St Kitts & Nevis

STI pretty much sewed up their tie in the first half of the first leg as they quickly scored 2 goals. A third was added in the second half for a 3-0 win. They then took it easy in the second leg, taking a 2 goal lead meaning a second half goal from their opponents caused no concern and the match finished 2-1.

First Leg Result: St Kitts & Nevis 0, Southern Treasure Islands 3 | STI Player Ratings & Stats

Second Leg Result: Southern Treasure Islands 2, St Kitts & Nevis 1 STI advance 5-1 on aggregate | STI Player Ratings & Stats

Both rival nations go through to the second round in which there will be three groups of four with the top two going to the final stage of qualifying. Group draw to come later.
