Thanks for the compliment! It makes the effort worthwhile. icon_smile.gif

By the way, I will be more selective in posting profile screenshots at the end of this season. If you want to see yours, you'll need to let me know with a little code (I think I first saw this idea in one of Ridley's threads so thanks for the idea):

- If you are a Southerner, write 'come on ye Pirates!' at the end of you next post.

- Northerners, 'that makes good business sense'. icon_wink.gif

That way, you'll get your full updates no prob.

would like a copy of this database to have a go myself if possible mate.

good to see the pirates beating the merchants as usual but it is a shock to see the merchants sitting high in the league. first they have delegates n the world cup panel keeping us sti's off the dream team and now they are bribing the dutch fa to fix their matches. shocking!

kutgw mate.

Alfonso da Silva Santos is the current captain of the Merchants having been promoted from vice-captain when Dirtihno left in the summer.

With no STI nationals left in the Cove Bay first team, thier captain is a Dutch player, Santi Kolk, who was appointed captain following Iker Reina's departure.

Dirtihno is NTI captain and David Sunderland is STI captain (both of them having been appointed at the start of the game).

Of the other players who have moved on, none have had the honur of becoming captain or vice captain at their new clubs.

October/November 2010 International Update: Friendlies

Both nations had friendlies to round off their year, with results as follows:

Northern Treasure Islands 2 Turks & Caicos Islands 0

Ratings & Stats (NTI v. Turks & Caicos)

Northern Treasure Islands 4 Chinese Taipei 0

Ratings & Stats (NTI v. Chinese Taipei)

Estonia 3 Northern Treasure Islands 0

Ratings & Stats (Estonia v. NTI)

A mixed bag then for the North with two easy home victories and a disappointing away defeat.

Southern Treasure Islands 0 Qatar 1

Ratings & Stats (STI v. Qatar)

Denmark 2 Southern Treasure Islands 0

Ratings & Stats (Denmark v. STI)

It seems STI are suffering from a bit of a World Cup hangover then.... The match against Qatar will be especially disappointing as they couldn't even manage one shot on goal! icon_eek.gif

Rivals Clash: Cove Bay Pirates v. Capital City Merchants FC (Dutch Premier League)

Date: 27.11.10

Venue: World's End Stadium

For the first league clash of the season, both sides were riding high in the league. A great run had seen the Pirates move up to 3rd. The Merchants had fallen back a little after a run of draws and sat in 4th, 3 point behind their rivals. There seems to be a pattern developing with recent clashes between these rivals of the form side losing out. This was to be no different as the Merchants took the lead early on thanks to Pablo Gonzaléz. Strike partner Robert Boyle added a second from the penalty spot before half-time to put the Merchants in a great position. When Gonzaléz scored again 1 minute after the restart, it seemed all over. Despite the fact that Cove Bay may have no STI players in their team these days (there are even two NTI players in the starting XI!), they still had the desire to beat their rivals. Unfortunately, desire is not enough - despite 25 shots, they only managed 1 goal. They couldn't get back into the match especially with Jack Harrow in Man Of The Match form. The win put the Merchants back ahead of their rivals on goal difference. Both teams are now tied with Ajax on 29 points, 5 points behind PSV.

Final Score: Cove Bay Pirates 1 Capital City Merchants 3

How they rated

I've taken the game up to December 31st and I'll be posting lists of player stats and league tables before the transfer window opens, along with a review of the international year. icon14.gif

Two losses for the boys from the South but two appearances for Brendanio, despite the fact that he didn't play all that well.

Come on ye Pirates! Lift your game for the next few internationals and give Brendanio a goal or two.

Does that count? It's not at the end but I wanted to be creative icon_biggrin.gif

By the way, if there is anybody who is following this thread but hasn't got a player in the game, feel free to post. I'd be interested to know which club/nation you are supporting plus general comments.

Who knows? If some participants are not including the code, or are not posting at all, there may be spots available at the end of the current season. icon_wink.gif

Decent results for NTI at home, just a pity about that 3-0 thumping at Estonia. Sure we'll improve with more experience though. Good to see Peralta on the subs bench for at least one game, looks like he's in line for his first full cap soon.

Excellent form from the Merchants too by the looks of things, bring on the CL next season. Peralta off to Standard Liege, a good team in a small league so a decent place to learn the game. And only £50k! That makes good business sense icon_wink.gif

We got our arses spanked by Estonia and Le Quack got a 7 icon_confused.gificon_frown.gif our defence must be bad when Le Quack (the goalkeeper!) can get an 8 against Turks & Caicos Islands icon_eek.gif

But Denmark defeated STI icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon14.gif with Enevoldsen in the national team icon_razz.gif how are Danish players doing in the game BTW?

End Of 2010 Update 1: European Leagues

With the game brought up to Dec 31st, 2010, it seems like a good time to let you see how your teams are getting on in their respective leagues.

Dutch Premier League - PSV still in the lead, merchants still in touch but Cove Bay's season has really taken a dive since that loss to their rivals...

Dutch First Division

Belgian First Division

English Premier League

French Ligue 1

German Bundesliga

Spanish La Liga

Unfortunately, two of the players on loan (Paul Hart and Miltinho) are on loan at clubs not featured in active leagues (Kirrikkalespor - Turkish 2nd Division - and Augusburg - German Regional - respectively).

And here's a look at how many appearances your players have had so far this season and how they are performing:

End Of 2010 Update 2: The International Rivalry

Northern Treasure Islands

A year of frustration for the boys from the North then as they only had a handful of friendlies and sat and watched as their Southern rivals grabbed all the headlines at the World Cup. Their world ranking peaked at 57 but dropped sharply towards the end of the year due to lack of competitive games, leaving them way back in 94th. NTI will be hoping for an invite to the next Gold Cup (to be held in May/June 2011) or they won't have another competitive match until the next World Cup Qualifiers.

NTI Caps & Player Stats

Southern Treasure Islands

A much more lively year for the Southern Islanders as they enjoyed an incredible World Cup run. That caused their World Ranking to peak at 17th, though it dropped slightly to 19th after the last 2 friendly defeats.

STI Caps & Player Stats

Another good sign for the future of STI has been the caps handed out to regens. These three have made the grade so far:

Joep Beukers - broke into the national set-up after moving from MGM Grand FC to Cove Bay and even made a couple of appearances at the World Cup.

Martin van der Berg - called up for the post-World CUp friendlies, the Robin Hood player will be joining Beukers at Cove Bay on January 1st.

Fred Bresser - a product of the Cove Bay youth system. He recovered from the disappointment of being released by the club by signing for Liege in Belgium and breaking into the national side at the end of the year.

With the rivalry a few seasons old, it's time to take a look at the head-to-head record (though NTI followers may prefer to look away!)

Alfonso da Silva Santos Ajax (5.5mil + clauses) </pre>

Wanted Players

The following have caught the eye of various clubs around Europe -

<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">Player Wanted by

Players Transfer Listed or Listed For Loan

Nobody is currently on the transfer list but Dirtihno and poor old Trevor Tobago are both available for loan.

Slightly Unhappy Players

Nobody is outright kicking up a fuss at the moment but the following are having a little trouble nodding off at night -

Rich Denton feels his manager at PSV is not giving the players enough credit.

Juan Carlos wants clarity over his role at OGC Nice.

Gregory Le Quack and Jack Harrow are both considering their optionsas they approach the end of their contracts.

Injuries

Ramiro is back light training following his calf muscle injury.

Other News

Iker Reina and Nathaniel Ball are both currently tutoring young understudies.

The Danish team is ranked 18th at present (just above STI). As usual, Agger and Bendtner are the two biggest Danish stars. Bendtner has an incredible record of 28 goals in 32 internationals but an injury has kept him out of the Arsenal first team. Thomas Kahlenberg has just made a big money move to Sunderland. Simon Kjaer (one of my favourite youth players to develop in FM 08 icon_wink.gif) has just moved to Gimnastic in Spain following a few years at Sparta Prague. Are there any other players in particular you want the lowdown on?

Lyon top of the league though Rebel playing less than normal - perfect reason to sulk through the spring en route to another big money move - I hear Germany is lovely in August, I know I said it already, but that makes good business sense. icon_wink.gif

Transfer Window Update: January 2011

The transfer window has just closed and there was quite a bit of activity involving our Treasure Islanders, all of which is detailed below:

<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">Player From To Fee

Eduaddo Club Brugge AC Milan 875k

Alfonso da Silva Santos Merchants Ajax 5.5mil

Robert Boyle Merchants Ajax 9.5mil

Rtik Carlos-Powell Roda JC Cove Bay 5.25mil

Cabinboy Pendros Hertha Berlin Bayern Munich 10.25mil

Nathaniel Ball Dortmund Liverpool 16.25mil

Gwilym J. James AS Nancy Newcastle 8.25mil

Dirtihno Spurs VW Hamme Loan</pre>

So, as you can see, the transfer fees are getting higher and the clubs are getting bigger. Interesting to see Rtik on his way back to Cove Bay. Congratulations to Eduaddo, who becomes the first player from either side of the Islands to play for a Serie A club, and also to Nathaniel Ball, who is now the most expensive Islander following his 16.25mil move to Anfield.

Other Player News

Unhappy Players

T.H. Gooner feels he deserves a better salary at Blackburn and is currently negotiating a new deal.

PSV manager Co Adriaanse seems to be an upopular figure as Arthur White has now joined Rich Denton in feeling the gaffer doesn'T give the team enough credit.

Wrighty feels Schalke are underperforming in the league.

Injuries

Adam Flash is out for up to a month with a damaged foot.

After a good injury-free run, Captain Gingerbread has been sidelined once more, this time with a torn groin muscle whcÅŸh is set to keep him out for 6 weeks.
