Spagbol
Bit weak that the competition questions all relate to your current power, home phone and mobile suppliers, isn't it? I feel more than a little bit disappointed that you have to sign up for a third party data collection company who have been notorious in the past for telling porkies about the number of prizes given out (and listing people who've not won as winners, giving out their full name and town of residence) and shipping your data about. Not only that but you have to take a 'NO OBLIGATION' quote from a power supplier, spam calls regarding your phones and sign up for a survey company. Would you like to offer us some viagra or a discount Rolex while you're at it guys? Or maybe sign up with an online casino and deposit £20 before we can submit? Koki
I have no clue what you are talking about! Is there some issue with the demo?
Spagbol
No, if you look on the Mirror football/SI posts about the demo or patch you'll see that there's a competition to get your name in as a newgen in the Jan data update: http://www.myoffers.co.uk/lifestyle-competitions/win-your-name-in-the-game--football-manager-2011-8640-0 The only problem is that while in the past you just submitted your info via a page on the SI site, now you have to do everything I listed in my previous post and endure having your details passed on to everyone under the sun by Britain's biggest date redistribution company. stevedaytona
There's a much bigger problem. I can't even enter as I'm not a UK resident
Spagbol
In fact, I can't find it listed anywhere on the SI site. Can they conform this is genuine and not a scam?
Carmi88
i usually just add myself in with the editor once needing more entertainment xD
anagain
Like Carmi said, you can add yourself as a player with the editor. If you don't want to do that you can add player(s) with your surname and the game uses the surnames and firstnames in the database that to create newgens. It might come up with your name. If you use your own name for your manager then there is a chance a newgen could be created with that surname. As far as I am aware.
drmanley
It's got to be a scam hasn't it? I'd be shocked if SI were involved in anything that cynical.
Spagbol
Any word from SI on this?
Indi75
It's just the daily mirror in bed with myoffers who are merely harvesting info with which to spam people
Spagbol
If so are SI offering a way for us to do it without all the spam? They've not mentioned it here yet
SCIAG
Could you use fake details?
Coen
My name's already in the game as a Premier League player. Unfortunately, I only play for Sunderland and I'm not really very good.
Spagbol
I think it says your entry will only be validated after you've had calls from the three companies, so fake details may not work. Is the competition even real SCIAG? I can't find Miles mentioning it anywhere in his updates and it seems like the kind of thing he would. It's hardly as if face/name in the game's ever been anything but popular.
drmanley
If it was genuine and supported by SI then I'm sure it'd be stickied.

Spagbol
Was it? I don't understand why SI don't mention it on their site or the forums. Or even comment on it in this thread. Name in the game's always really popular.

phnompenhandy
I was disappointed too. I don't live in the UK so I don't know that company and didn't realise a non-UK resident couldn't enter; I wasn't going to give my email to be spammed with thousands of offers for Viagra etc. There was no box to tick to say you don't want any 'correspondence'. It is 'cheap' of SI to associate with such practices
Pompey1978
That's a pretty poor show. Why the need for the tie-in with a data-harvesting company? It's not like the prize is worth a fortune and they're paying for it by selling people's names and contact details. The actual monetary value of the prize is £0, so I don't see why it can't be a simple "answers on a postcard" type competition.
Spagbol
I wonder if SI will consider doing a name in the game entry via the forums without all the spam stuff?
