Champions_09
getting a new laptop and just wanted to ask wether it would be good enough to run the 3d match engine http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/13569017/-/Product.html
Toolbox
Personally I avoid anything without a dedicated graphics card. It'll probably run it, but for an extra £50 you could get a Dell Studio with 4GB of RAM, larger HD, same processor and a dedicated GC.
TigerTime
FM will run smooth and fast but the 3d graphics wont be the best. Still good though.
La Furia Roja
Please look at the top of the forum, there is a sticky for threads like this cause every day people are asking the exact same question, you will find the info you need there. Bruun
Intel integrated graphic cards aren't really that good, so you wont be playing the game with massive graphics.
either and or
Like others have said, you're better off getting something with a dedicated GFX card. I made the mistake of buying a laptop with an integrated one. While it does run FM's 3D smooth enough, I can't upgrade the card to play other games. Administrators Neil Brock Posted September 14, 2010 Administrators Share Posted September 14, 2010 Just to echo what other people have said, the graphics card wouldn't be ideal for playing the 3D match engine.
pelicanstuff
Second the Dell Studio recommendation, if you can get them during one of the £150 off deals they are just about the best value out there and a nice looking notebook as well. Customer service is much improved from a few years ago.
TJJESSE
does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade graphics cards on laptops?
pelicanstuff
does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade graphics cards on laptops? If you have integrated graphics, not at all. If you already have a dedicated graphics card, it is possible (in most cases) but you really need to know and understand what you are doing before trying. And check, and double-check compatibility. pelicanstuff
You will need to have a pretty good understanding of the insides of a laptop to be able to upgrade it, and be absolutely sure the card you are upgrading to will fit and will work with your power supply, chipset, the temperature the inside of your computer and several other factors. It's a complicated job, not just something you can do in 15 minutes like with a desktop. Do be careful and don't just dive in.
tractorboy drew
You could build your own desktop for an extra £40, but then you'd need to buy a monitor and windows 7 if you don't have them already.
