[sSn]
As the title mentions, should a CB learn to stop play? I read somewhere that a CB should be encouraged to learn stops play. Rafael Marquez of Barcelona has that PPM for a CB. So i was looking for some feedback on it. Any suggestions or opinions?
Cleon
Marquez is more of a old fashioned centrehalf rather than a centreback. That's why he has that PPM. Personally I think it's dangerous for a defender to stop play as he will be dictating the tempo of the game then. I prefer someone more advanced. Bruce Higham
If you want to play from the back I don't see why not, although I don't really want my lumbering oak tree to stop play when he has two forwards haring towards him, so decisions and concentration would be a must. If you are playing with a high d-line it could be useful, like a libero. Btw, is it incompatible for a player to get forwards (or whatever the ppm is) and stops play? In my mind it wouldn't be, a player can get forwards without the ball, and then dictate the tempo, but maybe I'm dreaming...
