Steve01
I thought it was going to be hellish tonight, but I barely heard them all game. Have the BBC filtered the noise and not said anything?
Cobbler
I'm pretty sure they did say something about having done it the other day...
Cobbler
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment_and_arts/10317767.stm The BBC says it has already "taken steps to minimise the noise". "If the vuvuzela continues to impact on audience enjoyment, we will look at what other options we can take to reduce the volume further," a spokeswoman said. Like I said... Steve01
Cool, well it helped a lot so good job BBC :]
pouncer
Shame, it sounded quiet tonight. I can understand them toning it down for other games (just) but it's wrong to do it for South Africa's game if they have done so. Time for a vuvuzela forum
PaulHartman71
Hope they don't do it on games Mick McCarthy is commentating on
DJ
On the ARD (German) they were louder than ever
deerokus
Yeah I noticed Lawrenson saying it was the loudest he'd heard. It didn't sound it on TV. Got a lot quieter still when they headed for the exits with 10 minutes left.
craigcwwe
I noticed this as well tonight, they are ok but do get quite annoying when you are listening to them for 90 mins of a game 3 times a day, good on BBC for sorting out how much we hear them. CPS
The difference between the BBC and RTE was huge. They were deafening on RTE yet barely noticeable on the beeb.
TomHAVFC
Yeah it was cuz Urgay scored 3.
swfcrule4eva
Id prefer an option to have it normal or toned down if theyre to do this tbh. I much prefer having the actual atmosphere rather than an edited version.
DanGLiverpool
Hopefully they do make it optional, same could be applied to toning down (or up) general crowd sounds at British games:p

Broadcaster always makes a judgement on how high or low to have the background noise, will differ depending where the put the mics, etc.
cool dude
I hope all the african teams get knocked out so this vuvuzela crap can simmer down a bit

DanGLiverpool
I havent a clue how it works, I just preferred it before they made it quieter. I agree, you could hardly hear them last night, was quite disappointed in that. They didn't need toning down IMO, just that some people needed to (but couldn't) accept and get used to them, and complained.
Woodmansee
Some people? More like most.
Icondacarver
Some people? More like most. If it was MOST people then you would not have the stadium full of them and even if those people just bought them for the novelty they certainly would not blow them. tcoleman1
I don't want them to tone them down. I quite like them and it's a joke that some people can't just accept that this is part of African football tbh. Annoying or not.
Woodmansee
Most people watching it on TV.
tcoleman1
Well there not going to ban them (I hope) and they shouldn't. Why should people thousands of miles away have a say in what the Africans are allowed to do at their own tournament ffs. People may as well stop moaning about them now, it's a week into the competetion and there not going away. Deal with it.
Woodmansee
It's already been said they won't ban them.
tcoleman1
Yeah I know, I didn't say they it was still an issue. I was just saying they aren't going away so what's the point in moaning about them still.
jmr
It's easy to deal with when the BBC tone them right down Was even able to hear some singing in the Mexico - France game.
tcoleman1
Yeah I don't mind them being toned down, just don't like the people who want them banned Although I wish we had options to turn them up and down much like the World Cup game
RubenJ
when it's cold, most people try to keep their hands warm. reduces the vuvuzela noise quite a bit.
glory utd
The difference between the BBC and RTE was huge. They were deafening on RTE yet barely noticeable on the beeb. Had I known they turned them down I would've watched on RTE, even bearing the incompetence of everyone involved and the lack of HD. Really don't like that they've turned the crowd mics down or whatever they've done.
