Saturn vs St Pete's Boys

St Pete's start the season in strong fashion. Pravaya got to the end of a Bull corner in the 15th and nodded it home. The player then exchanged passes in the 45th with Nicholas and got loose to score the 2nd on the day. In the 2nd half Nicholas was fouled in the area, and once it was given, scored it himself to finish the scoring. Berberov was fantastic between the St Pete's net on the day making several key saves.

An even and relatively dull game. The back line for the boys was very good in denying Anzhi many opportunites. The forwards for the boys couldn't find the opposition goal with a map on the day.

Uralan vs St Pete's Boys

In a fairly exciting match, St Pete's came back from a goal down to force a draw thanks to a Golo headed goal. Chrzipplerinski picked up to yellows and got sent of about 15 minutes before the whistle, but the boys had been able to pressure Uralan for a time. Nicholas was marked out of the game by Uralan's 4-1-3-2 formation, and had to be substituted after having been suffocated all day.

St Pete's boys vs Lokomotiv Moscow

In a battle at the top of the table and between early undefeated teams, Lokomotiv came out on top. A wet day on the pitch seemed to slow down the boys, and Mor knocked home a first half freekick for the visitors. Abuzaglo, returned from suspension, couldn't find his touch on the day, and when Karyaka scored a fine solo goal in the 90th minute, it was a fully deserved win for the league leaders.

St Pete's dominated the game for most of the day, but Rubin scored 3 goals on 6 shots and St Pete's could only manage 2 on 17. Rubin keeper Alexeev was on brilliant form and could easily have won MOM except for Abuzaglo's game on the other end with a goal and an assist. Golo also scored.

St Pete's Boys vs Spartak Moscow

If some of the previous games had been a bit unlucky for the boys, this one was a stolen win. Abuzaglo headed home a Jenkov cross in the 17th minute, and the boys held on for dear life as Spartak sent wave after wave of attacks at the back line. Thankfully Toothrotski was up to the challenge, and Spartak really couldn't hit a cow with a banjo on the day.

Match Report: Intertoto Semifinal First Leg

Atletico Madrid vs St Pete's Boys

The boys took advantage of Madrid's poor summer fitness by attacking with abandon and harrying the Spanish side all around the pitch. Abuzaglo headed home before scoring a sweet lob over Burgos for a 2 goal lead. The Boys had plenty of chances to expand on their lead, hitting woodwork on multiple occasions, but Burgos was able to keep Dinamo from expanding their lead. Correa scored in the 68th to get a potentially important goal.

The fan club sent a message saying they were pleased by the praise, pointing out the number of shirts being printed bearing the strikers name. Even the unknown owner gave his support to the manager's handling of the media.

Match Report: Inter-toto Semi-final 2nd leg

St Pete's Boys vs Atletico Madrid

In an exciting match in front of 15000 fans at the Kirov stadium, St Pete's forced extra time against the Spanish side but went out on pks. Zenden scored in the minute to put the early pressure on the boys, and it was fairly inevitable that Madrid would get a second and did so in the 53rd through Claudio Lopez. The boys through everthing forward and when Anerdov forced home a goal in the 70th minute (thanks to an amazing run by Powersov beating one player with speed and nutmegging another) extra time was forced. Substitutions were made, but Golo found himself sent off for a hack down of Claudio Lopez, and the boys were forced to play the final 30 minutes a man down. In the penalties, Atletico had no problem putting everyone of their past Berberov, who had a poor day, and Jenkov had his saved by Madrid keeper Burgos, who was stellar. Maybe next year for the boys.

Final:1-2 (3-3 Aggregate)

Madrid win on Penalties 5-3

The inter-toto run by Dinamo St Peterburg has brought in enough money to take the club out of the red with some extra cash remaining. Jenski has asked the club to invest some of the cash in improved training facilities, but the board has denied the request.

Kuban vs St Pete's Boys

The game was an even and relatively bad tempered affair. Abuzaglo scored early (his 15th of the Season!) and but Kartashov answered for the homes side. The game turned on its head when Powersov was injured with a dislocated jaw by a Kuban player. No foul was called and no cards given. Powersov had to come out and Pravaya came on. The boys were fired up by the injury and in the next 20 minutes scored 3 unanswered goals from Nicholas, Abuzaglo, and Pravaya. It was a fanastic showing from the whole team, especially Abuzaglo and Pravaya (both 10 match ratings).

Anzhi vs St Pete's Boys

Anzhi scored in the 3rd minute to put the pressure on Dinamo, and then they boys picked up 2 yellows (Abuzaglo and Panstov) in quick succession to reach the 15 minute mark. Georgikov turned home a Korjev cross to tie up the game in the 17th. Anzhi was looking the better side, but Nicholas nearly cracked the woodwork with a shot. Yablonskiy scored in the 27th to give the home side the lead. Toothrotski was on fine form making several key saves including a fingertip save in the 42nd. In the 2nd half Nicholas hit the post, a sign that it just wasn't his day. Jenski made the necessary changes and substitute Anerdov came on to score just minutes after coming on. The pace was a bit more even now, but when Panstov broke loose in the 90th minute and turned in a cross it was Anerdov again who got to the end and his headed ball found the net and stole a win before the whistle.

St Pete's Boys vs Uralan

A tough match for the boys, and when Uralan got a goal of a corner, things looked bleak for the boys. The squad switched to a more direct style for the second half and it payed dividends quickly as Bull stroked home a Nicholas through ball. In the 61st minute the boys caught a break as Kharp tumbled under a shove from Avakov, and the Uralan player was given a straight red. The game stayed even however, so when Nicholas popped up to knock home his 50th career goal it was a surprise even for the home side.

It a move some say that the public is finally catching on that the boys from St Pete's are for real, 8 of the team have been called up to the Russian Under-21 side for the forthcoming matches against Lithuania and Hungary. The players are:

Abuzaglo

Anerdov

Jenkov

Kharp

Misja

Nicholas

Pravaya

Tonerovski

It is generally agreed that Abuzaglo rates as one of the 3 best players on the U21s, along with defender Polulekh of PSG and attacking midfielder Izmailov of Lokomotiv. The latter has already even been capped with the full squad.

Although even in terms of possession, the boys dominated the chances and it turned into a fairly easy win for the club. Pravaya and Georgikov scored in the first half and after substitions were made, Raskolnikov scored one of the goals of the season:

Bull send over a corner which Panstov got up to nod down towards Raskolnikov, the player didn't even hesitate and rifled a full volley into the corner for the sealing goal.

Clearly on a high, the player then set up a 80th minute diving header for Abuzaglo.

Final:4-1
