Hah, Saivet is doing quite well for the French U21 team in 2011, he single-handedly demolished FYR of Macedonia with five goals in 12 minutes!

Tested kimz 8.0.2 tactic tactic exclusively with Spurs in the 2nd season.

I used Vs 2 with no changes or tweaks at all.

Went very well winning the Prem, CL & Carling although I missed out on the FA Cup losing to Arse in the final .

I didnt find it bad defensively at all as I had the best defence in the League until the last game when I let in 5 playing all the reserves (saving players for the FA & CL finals with the Prem already won)

Cant say it was bad away either with only Chelsea having a better away record.

My squad wasn't as good as the top 4 either but as you can see Berbatov was lethal with this tactic (a goal a game) & Angel Di Maria, Aimar & Bresciano were superb as the AMC's.

A great tactic & I enjoyed the style of play immensely.

TBH the results weren't that much better than my 1st season where I used a variety of tactics & tweaked like mad but the 2nd season is usually more difficult.

It gets a bit tedious & robotic doing those same oppo instructions every game but it works.

I guess it's oppo instructions versus constant tweaking.

Do others find the DMCs get poor ratings?

Mine are not World Class but got plenty of tackles in & provided some assists & the odd goal but got lowish ratings in general, maybe this is just an anomaly of the match engine?

I don't use DMC's but have an MC with a barrow and he struggles to ever get more than a 7, even on a good day. must be an engine thing!

since using 802 patch i found my MC's are getting much better ratings, before they would always struggle to get 7, now they almost always get 7 and with assists or goals up to 8.

I am playing a 4411 with spurs and in the first season at the moment. I am starting to plan for next year and need two new mc's. I am currently using edu and zanetti.

I play with both mc's with barrows, so I would like reasonably defensive minded mc's.

Any suggestions.

I play VDV ahead of them.

Following meetings with Terry Dixon, his family and his representatives at which his long term recovery and future well being after an unfortunate sequence of severe injuries were discussed, the Player has now left the club.

The Academy striker, who featured on a number of occasions for our Reserve side, suffered a dislocated kneecap, which ruled him out for the entire 2006-07 season before he was able to return to action at the beginning of this campaign.

The 18-year-old, however, suffered the same injury again in mid-September during an Academy League fixture and underwent further surgery and extensive rehabilitation. We wish Terry every success for the future.

From the Spurs site, thats a bit of a disappointment. He never really played for me, a few appearences when I was struggling with injuries, but I suppose he's out for next year then.

I've started 2 times with Spurs, and in both cases i'm not in the top 12 teams. I play in a 4-1-3-1-1 tactic with direct pass and what i can see is a lot of goals disallowed. I'll install 8.0.2 patch in order to try to solve the problem. there are a lot of players i would like to sell, but nobody wants them. I try to put them as exchange players but nothing ... in my second try I changed Defoe by Michael Owen and this guy is a goal machine. Unfortunely i had to put Berbatov in the bench, because he didn't perform as well as i expected. I think i will training him to be a AMC player. what you think?

Finished my fist season with 802 with Spurs.

I bought VDV and Fernandez in summer 2007, as well as Saivet and Sakho. Samba, Huntleaar and Makoun followed them in Jan 2008. I also got Banega for a year long loan till Jan 2009.

Sold Lee in the summer, Jenas for a hefty £11m in Jan to Blackburn and Bent to Sunderland for £5m+ clauses.

Finished 4th in the league, which i was reasonably pleased with. Man Utd won the fist 17 league games of the season, and won the EPL at a canter. Chelski 2nd, the Goons 3rd and the Bin Dippers behind me in 5th. Annoyingly Chelski knocked me out of both domestic cups in the semis. Didn't go too far in the UEFA.

Robbie Keane was my star man hitting 30+ goals. VDV and Fernandez missed much of the season with a broken leg and thigh respectively so i was playing much of the season with Spurs real life team. Paul Robinson was named in the Team of the Year (!)

Now about to start season 2, I've bought in Lulinha and Menez. Kusycak (sp?) to cover Robbo in goal as Ustari failed to get a work permt after agreeing terms. With only 3 senior forwards, and Dixon, Saivet and Pekhart still too young, i thought I'd gamble on an ageing Del Peiro to act as cover, for £375k.

I flogged off a lot of the dead wood. Plus Kaboul and Hutton are getting some serious attention, so may ca$h in on them. Loaned out most of my top youngsters inc Taarabt. I've still got £30m+ to spend, and I hink i need a top quality RB.

Definatly - am in season 2019/20 and he's still in my first team (alongside Micah Richards). I think he's up to 700 Tottenham games in all competitions.

Whose your bargain buy in your game (excluding big name free transfers later on the game)?

Mine are Ali Karimi, 1.7m AMC/R cheap as chips & performs as well as Diego, Aimar, VDV etc.

Chris McCann starts at Burnley I think, cant remember how much he cost me but it wasn't much & performs his destroyer role at DMC admirably & is a good passer.

Agreed to buy Wright-Phillips for 6m in Jan. Just beat Sampdoria in UEFA group. Have some tactics which are going well, just need to pick up a few more players. Robinson & Woodgate easily best [players so far. Kaboul has impressed and O'Hara when playing against lower clubs.

Hi lads,

I read bits and pieces of the thread and loved it.

I am a big fan of the Spurs and at the start of the second season I was thinking about renewing my contract in Turkey where Kaiserispor, through hard-thought adjustments to Googen's Roo tactics and careful talent-finding won an unprecedented title beating Besiktas and Galatasaray and being lucky that Fener which beat me twice let their chances slip by.

I was frustrated with the lack of money though, and the board who was so arrogant that until the last round of the championship threatened me based on my first round exit of Turkish Cup.

Then I looked at the Jobs section and I noticed Tottenham was thinking about Jol's future. Long story short I declared interest, they hired and here am I, was given a very nice budget to start with (I think 30MM pounds).

Love the team, love the city, here's my team for the 2008/2009 season,

I'd like to ask your thoughts and help, with a week left in August and a 3-2-0 record so far (not ran into any of the big 4, though).

I am using a 4-2-3-1, which worked wonders for me in Spain in another save with Sociedad and in Turkey, tweaking it from time to time.

I also listed many players from the reserve team and some of the were sold (don't remember the names now though).

Now I have 15 million pounds to spend.

My main issues:

1) Need an AMR to compete for a spot in the team with Malbranque.

2) Not sure about the AMC position. Tried Keane there with reasonable success. Do you think Taarabt is up to the challenge? Any recommendations here?

3) Which striker to sell? Is it really Defoe? I am so much in doubt between him and Bent?

4) Need a better back-up in the DL spot.

5) Should I get rid of Zokora and Tainio? I have been using them slightly on DMC and AMC positions, but not really sure they have a place?

6) Juventus is after Bale, but so far he's hanging in hapiness.

Taarabt attracted the likes of Milan, Barcelona and Real. He's valued 3 million and I placed his price at 20 million. So far I survived but he's unsettled.

Menez feels he achieved, wants to go bigger, etc. and Man Utd is serving him breakfast at my doorstep. I set an asking price of 54 million and so far they were kept away of the gates.

I also bouth Kasper Hamalainen for almost nothing at AM RLC based on a referral I read in the forums but my ass man Ayestaran said he's just a last resort.

Your comments, rating/critics and support is welcome.

My trend now is to try a AMR and a back-up DL for less than 15 million combined (actually I'd love to find a wonderkid/hot prospect DL for a cheap price) and get a household name on a bargain for the AMR side.

And also get rid of one of the strikers, and perhaps the midfielders...

Sorry for the lenghty post, it's my passion for the game, just like any Spurs fan.

Oh, i forgot one important thing. I play the 8.0.0 patch (my best DB processing computer is offline and needs a USB to place wireless, never really bothered to change the patch).

Sakho is a great up and coming DL/DC although can be fairly costly.

For AMR i would look at moving Menez there and buying Fernandez for AML.

Both these players may set you back a cool £20-25m though so try and put in clauses to keep the up front payment down.

Get good scouts with 19 or 20 rating for judging potential & get them to scout youth tournaments & U18 leagues etc.

Regens will have those ugly computer generated mugshots.

Pako is a 20 tactical knowledge coach but his player ability skill is 12. Should I trust him or keep Abenzoar in and he will deliver?

b) Same with Bale and Mattock. Bale has been impressive but bad on the aerial balls - he's young but I noticed a decline in his skills through training in the last months which was very strange (put him back in general training out of my fullback training which is Matt's Training). Mattock was referred in this forum and seems to be a very good prospect for the future. Who to pick?

c) I bought Campbell as a breadth of experience for the team because my best scouts rated him a 6 star buy. He's failed to impress so far, actually I think he's the most vulnerable part of the team, and TBH King hasn't been that reliable either. Any thoughts if I should replace Campbell with another seasoned CB? Any ideas? I do have Dervite loaned out, but I think he's too young and not ready yet.

d) Now comes the most interesting situation: the AMCs. I wanted my Tottenham team to be a light pacey-creative passing team. So I bought potential stars to mix with the squad I found on arrival.

I found Malbranque, Boateng and Menez in the first team with Zhirkov as a significant backup and Taarabt in the reserve squad.

I sold Jenas and bought Torje and Wijnaldum.

Menez is unhappy and wants to move bigger for a while, Taarabt was unsettled but I managed to sign a new contract with him after the biggies (ie. Milan/Liverpool/Barcelona) withdrew my 50 million pounds negotiation :-) - he's worth 4.6 million now.

I don't know if Menez's anger will play a part in his play in the future though.

Pako supports a strange resolution, he placed:

AMR - Boateng

AMC - Menez

AML - Taarabt

Why is it strange? Boateng and Taarabt are pure AMC's, and he placed them both in the wings. I do play with my wingers one slot closer to the AMC but anyhow I find this odd...

Anyway, it has been a headache to determine my starting 11 at this stage. I can't complain as I am 2nd after Newcastle (!?) in the League and had perfomed really well specially offensively, but my set-up formations, playmaker selection and things like that require that I have a starting 11 in my mind.

I think about Malbranque and specially about Torje who I have the feeling can be an incredible asset, but even Zhirkov has perfomed really well...any insights?

Another issue is Paul Robinson. Very inconsistent in my game. Capable of incredible matches followed by major bloopers. I bought Bouzanis and he's coming in January 2009 - maybe this would keep him focused...

Menez is unhappy and wants to move bigger for a while, Taarabt was unsettled but I managed to sign a new contract with him after the biggies (ie. Milan/Liverpool/Barcelona) withdrew my 50 million pounds negotiation :-) - he's worth 4.6 million now.

I don't know if Menez's anger will play a part in his play in the future though.

Pako supports a strange resolution, he placed:

AMC - Menez

AML - Taarabt

Why is it strange? Boateng and Taarabt are pure AMC's, and he placed them both in the wings. I do play with my wingers one slot closer to the AMC but anyhow I find this odd...

Anyway, it has been a headache to determine my starting 11 at this stage. I can't complain as I am 2nd after Newcastle (!?) in the League and had perfomed really well specially offensively, but my set-up formations, playmaker selection and things like that require that I have a starting 11 in my mind.

I think about Malbranque and specially about Torje who I have the feeling can be an incredible asset, but even Zhirkov has perfomed really well...any insights?

Another issue is Paul Robinson. Very inconsistent in my game. Capable of incredible matches followed by major bloopers. I bought Bouzanis and he's coming in January 2009 - maybe this would keep him focused...

I'd trust his selections more than your AssMan TBH.

But at the end of the day you know how you want your players to play, they dont.

I'm guessing that your wide players are not going to deliver many crosses, maybe you want them to cut inside.

Personally I dont like Taarabt or Boateng & would get shot but if they're doing the biz for you, keep them.

I'm surprised that the fans didn't lynch you when you bought Sol Campbell as he's got 20 on the disliked personnel.

Take a look at Fazio, Edson (figuerense) & although I find Kaboul is great & better than Dawson at DC.

Bale is as good a DL as anyone else in the game IMO but if you want someone who's better in the air try Edson (figuerense) or Edson Braafheid.

Look at Ali Karimi for AMC or AMR, he's getting on a bit but he's available for peanuts & is as good as anyone creatively & a set piece expert.

If you've got money Angel Di Maria is wonderful played wide left or in the centre.

I think you need a better RB as Abenzoar is low on marking & concentration & will cost you goals.

Clerc is great but expensive, I suppose this is not an 8.0.2 game otherwise you would still have Hutton who's fine.

Abubakari Yakubu looks great on my game if you want a good solid defensive RB.

If Robinson gets injured you're stuffed as Alnwick is crap.

When I arrived at White Hart Lane, Moniz was already gone (I'll see where to in a bit).

Ayestaran is a great assistant, but not too good in player selection, you're right - his JA is 13.

I hired Desailly as a coach and he has both JA 19 and JP 18 or something like that. Usually I ask his opinion as well - however, they don't tend to differ that much and sometimes they select crazy things like putting Bale to play when his condition is 80% instead of going in with Mattock...

My staff is amazing. First thing I did upon arrival was to try to guarantee a 7-star training in each of the attributes, which is how they are now (had to terminate some contracts as well).

You're right, I'm not a big fan of too many crosses, I'd like my team to play a quick short-passing football and heavily oriented to possession, so I'm looking at players who can pass and dribble more than cross. Pretty almost all of them upfront have also excellent shooting range (long shots 15 and up) which is a menace.

Taarabt and Boateng are not the most consistent, but in 15 games Boateng found the net like 7 times which is pretty decent for an AMC, though with not too as many assists as I'd like.

Taarabt has the occasional flair, but is not performing still, although every biggie is after him from time to time.

So far they're delivering on my expectations, but I'll have to reexamine that for the future. Menez with his unhappiness and constant injuries he's not helping our cause (which is the case as well for injuries with Marek Hamsik - big dissapointment as I was expecting him to be the midfield Maestro from the left DMC position and almost always is unavailable or hides himself in the field.

Campbell was too well rated by my former Scouts and he was described as a Leader with 20 influence plus good technical and mental stats just being a bit on the slow side.

But I tend to agree. I think now his acquisition was a mistake. Not decisive to hurt my title expectations, but just didn't glue as I expected, perhaps because of what you said.

Kaboul has been pretty good as my first backup DM filling in for Hamsik many times. Perhaps I'll give him a go at DC.

I'll check your other recommendations as well and for the goalkeeping, I bought Bouzanis from Liverpool, he'll be with the team in 2 months. Not ready yet but definitely should provide cover for the next years...
