It's still early in the season, but it's a good start against Inter. Like you said, the results against the mid-table and lower rep teams will determine whether you get to Europe or not. Best of luck.

Thanks rancer! Our next game is against Palermo, which I think will be a more telling test.

Nice move to Serie A. Some good signings too. I would've said I was surprised that you let Zarate go but with an offer like that I totally understand why you let him go.

Zarate was pretty determined to leave, so with an offer of that magnitude on the table, I had to take it. There's no doubt he was our best player and was a big loss - but he just would have spent the whole season unsettling the squad. Better to get some good replacements in who want to play for the club.

Think that's a great start against Inter! Has Jack Wilshere become one of the best in the world in your game?

Wilshere hasn't set the world alight yet - he didn't get much of a chance in the Arsenal side, but he spent the season on loan at Celtic last year and performed very well. He's still only 20 - he's more than good enough to walk into the starting eleven right now, and could be a superstar in the future, I think.

Congrats on the Lazio job. By the sounds of it, Channel 4's Football Italia affected a whole generation of young football fans! :D I was sick of Gazza by the time he started playing for Lazio so I was never into them much (I'm sure you can redeem them slightly for me though ;)). I always followed David Platt and Des Walker in their time in Serie A though so my team ended up being Sampdoria (Vialli and Lombardo were always good to watch as well :)).

Looks like you've made some good signings. Best of luck for the season.

Sampdoria were always my second team in Italy - I always particularly liked Lombardo, and Roberto Mancini too! Samp would have been a job I couldn't have turned down as well. I'll do my best to get Lazio into your good books!

I'm pretty pleased with my signings - I think they should at least be good enough to move us towards the middle of the table.

Football Italia was great... James Richardson should still be on TV somewhere today doing football. for the record, Inter was my team and Juventus my brothers.....

James Richardson is something of a legend - I also enjoy the Football Weekly podcasts he does now for The Guardian.

Notes: A pretty good month - but for an 87th minute goal by Parma, we would have gone through the month unbeaten. My first win in charge came against Palermo, as Jo got the goal early on to give us a victory over one of our rivals. The defence has generally looked solid so far - except in our away game at Sampdoria where we had to battle back from two goals down to grab a 2-2 draw. Hleb got his first goal for the club, and Italian U-21 international got the late equaliser.

I'm not too disappointed by the loss away to Parma - we were within a few minutes of a tough but deserved draw against a good (albeit currently underperforming) side. Finally, we got a win over Lecce thanks to another Jo goal - pleasing since I think these are the kind of wins that we're going to need to fulfill my ambitions this season.

Notes: We actually managed an unbeaten month this time around - starting with a 1-0 win over Cagliari away, thanks to a first goal for the club from Jack Wilshere (now being described as a wonderkid). It took a couple of late goals for us to overcome bottom side Ascoli, who already look more or less destined for relegation - but the score was a fair reflection of the match as we deserved to win by even more.

Next up we took on Livorno at home, and a 1-1 draw was not quite what I would have hoped for, but another goal from Jo was pleasing. We also got a draw away from home to Udinese - a much more pleasing result since Udinese definitely have a better squad than us, and Jo again got the goal. 7th in Serie A would be a really good position to be in come the end of the season - so let's hope I can hold on to it!

Notes: A pretty good month overall - enough to keep us in 7th position, which would be a pretty successful finishing position if the season were to end today. We started up with a big match, my first Rome derby as we went "away" to Roma, and we came away with a pleasing 1-1 draw - Jo scoring early before Hatem Ben Arfa equalised during the second half. Next up was a tough home game against Genoa, last years runners up. Despite a good performance, we ended up losing 2-1, with all three goals being scored in the first 15 minutes.

The tough games just kept coming, as we faced an away game against AC Milan, the reigning champions. A 2-2 draw was a really creditable result, and a fully deserved one as we battled from one down to take the lead, only to be pegged back again. And another difficult game was next as we faced the runners-up two years ago, Napoli - and a 2-0 win was great for us - not so good for Roberto Donadoni though, who was fired after the defeat. Finally, we faced an easier game as we went away to relegation strugglers Chievo. Jo got the only goal of the game to make it 4 goals in 5 games this month and continue to prove why Man City shouldn't have thrown him on the scrap heap.
