catennacio
Hi all, Playing as AC Milan, at the end of my season I got "most gifted player of his generation" and "one of the best players this club have ever produced in recent years". I remember we have a thread about how to rate which statement is better than the other. Although they receive good statement from my Asst. manager but their stats suck in their position. Anyone has idea of how this statement rating system works? Thanks. -Caten
catennacio
Anyone knows the answer?
aw083
I *think* the former is better. But that's just what I've experienced in the past on FM09. And kudos for getting that at AC on the second season. I got bugger all in my second season there.
rinso
Personally I'd say "the most gifted player of his generation" is better than "the best the club have produced in recent years"
Mystere1666
Also, gifted might hint to his PA not his CA so his stats might suck but he might potentially be a good player later. I never take it too seriously tho as a player with off the ball 1 and composure 1 might be a really talented striker in the eyes of my assistant but I have my doubts about his usefullness even if he trains like an idiot (read: improves a lot). nalgn
I have seen this "the most gifted player of his generation" description for 1 of my youth player and i went to check his PA and it is only 130! Probably the quality of players in his generation are pretty bad!

Probably the quality of players in his generation are pretty bad! It's a fair point. Does that statement refer to the generation of players from his club, or region, or nation, or continent, or the world? It seems like such a blanket statement. But generally I consider it to be good news. The player who gets that descripition is certainly the best player in my youth team that year, any and every time that happens. Mystere1666
Aye, that is the only thing you should read into it in my humble opinion. Just an indication this is most likely the best youth player you got that year (PA wise).

Wiitastic
I get an above average player once every 2 years, so far in fm10 I have not received the message about best of his generation or better yet which is very dissapointing.
Mystere1666
Must admit that I save the game prior to the intake of youth players, if I get a bucketload of no good players I reload
Themistofelis
Usually "generation" thing involves PA equal or greater to 170 , now if your assistant sucks in judging PA everything is possible .
Macyst
I thought "his generation" just simply means that particular year; the next year it is called another generation. Usually, stars aren't arrived every year, maybe one in every 2-3 years who would have 170+ PA at the best youth facilities.
Wiitastic
Must admit that I save the game prior to the intake of youth players, if I get a bucketload of no good players I reload I did that last 2 seasons in fm10, never used to though. I like to get 1 very decent player a year.

Nicki
I have got like 5 players, that actually made the first team within 7 seasons with Brøndby.
Stephanie McMahon's Secret Lover
Check out the "give youth a chance" challenge. Its full of nothing but newgens. And there's failure everywhere.
Serdar
I think they are only predictions, there is no %100 guarentee what the player will become when he is still just ~16. I believe you can not see the real potantial of a player before he is 18, and in addition he needs proper training, avoid long injuries and some first team experience. So after all these filters only a handful of these kids become as good as they are supposed to be. For me it just works as it is IRL. Most of the top-class teams hardly get one homegrown into their first team every second year. Even more interesting top clubs in Europe start traning local kids at the age of 10 and yet their best intakes are kids they bring from overseas at older age. hannan300188
All the youth players I've had through would only make league 2 at best, thats with good training etc but then again I am Hull so not expecting loads of great players through. On my game there are loads of good Italian regens coming through so I'm guessing it's better in Serie A
Deisler26
It's not great. One decent player and I'm in the German Second Division
ArranoBeltza
Going into my second season as Athletic Bilbao, my regens were (surprisingly) all crap. However, I've been poaching off of other Spanish teams, so I've made up for it.
