League rules states that a maximum of 25 players over the age of 21 are allowed in reality. This was not possible to set up with the current editor, so this rule does not exist in this version. The 5 foreigner limit is there, however.

I have shortened the season, compared to how it is played in reality. I found that having the same setup as irl would leave you without playing a game for a whole month at times. In reality, I think there are a bunch of regional cups and other things, but without those in the game, I opted to cut down the season length by a month, ending it in July, instead of August (season begins in September). Further reason to do so can be seen in reality, as the current season was delayed a couple of weeks after Panthére and Les Astres complained they only got two weeks off after having played the Coupe du Cameroon final before the new season was under way.

Inactive Division

44 Teams

3 teams promoted to MTN Elite Two

Notes:

While all confirmed teams that participate in the Ligue Regionale in reality have been added, there are also a few that I don't know where they belong (or if they even still play ball). However, reputations have been tweaked to ensure that as realistic promotion as possible occur from the lower divisions. My long term test shows that it might even do too good of a job, as only one obscure team was ever introduced into the league system in the 30 years I ran the test (Ouragan FC).

Coupe du Cameroun

44 Teams participate in a First Qualifying Round *

14 Teams (All of MTN Elite Two) added to the Second Qualifying Round *

14 Teams (All of MTN Elite One) added from the First Round

From the 1/8 Finals and to the Semi-Finals there are two legs (home and away)

Final played at neutral ground (One match)

Notes:

Cup history has been added to show past winners since 1960 (Cameroon Independence)

Dates are close to those in real life (See Elite One info)

* This competition is in the correct format from the 1/16 finals and on. I do not know how the preliminary rounds look in reality, so I simply put together the best possible solution, using the Ligue Regionale Teams + Kadji Sports Academy in the first qualifying round. Adding the 14 MTN Elite Two teams to a second qualifying round ensured that with the addition of all MTN Elite One teams for the first round of the cup there would be 32 teams left.

Under 20's Leagues are structured excactly as the Senior Divisions*

* I have no information on the real format of Under 20's in Cameroon. There are a lot of Academy Cups and other things that I found, but for the purpose of developing youth in the game, I thought the best way was to allow some Under 20's (as I have confirmed that teams DO have youth setups that compete)

MTN Elite One Young Player of the Year

MTN Elite One Team of the Season

MTN Elite One Top Scorer

MTN Elite Two Manager of the Year

MTN Elite Two Player of the Year

MTN Elite Two Young Player of the Year

MTN Elite Two Top Scorer

* I don't really know what awards exist in real life. What I DO know is that there is a Fair Play award and a Top Scorer award. I've also seen some report of a Young Player of the Month award, which leads me to believe that it is also accurate to have Player of the Month and Year awards. Goal of the Season was added as there are television contracts for Cameroon's MTN Elite One, and that usually means Goal of the Season awards. Another reason I added that one is simply because I enjoy having one of my players winning that one...

TEAMS

1 NEW Team added to the database (FC Bamenda)

I have also CHANGED quite a few teams into other teams than those originally in the database (maybe not the best decision, I agree). Those were teams whose existence I could find no evidence of at all. So, rather than creating 20 or so new clubs, I decided to simply change the names of those that seemed to be either extinct or somewhere way down in the league systems that they would never have any impact on the game anyway.

Team colors, right down to the shorts and socks added to ALL teams. The vast majority of which are real, based on match pictures I've found. Only a handful were assigned random colors.

All teams also have an Under 20 squad *

MTN Elite One: AS Matelots, Canon, Coton Sport, Fovu Club, Les Astres, Panthère, Renaissance Ngoumou, Roumdé FC, Sable FC, Tiko Utd, Union Douala, Unisport, Université FC, YOSA

MTN Elite Two: Achille, Aigle Royal, Apejes FC, AS Lausanne, Avenir Beroua, Caïman, Danay FC, Douala AC, Espérance FC, Njalla Quan SA, Renaissance Meiganga, Sahel FC, Scorpion FC, Tonnerre KC

Ligue Regionale de Cameroun: America For Africa FC, Authentic FC, Bamboutos, Bandja FC, Best Stars, Cercle Sportif, Cetef, Cintra, CPS, Dynamique FC (Buea), Dynamique FC (Ngaoundere), Dynamo Douala, Ebolowa Cryst, FC Bamenda, FC Pilote, Fédéral SC, Fortuna Yaoundé, Foudre Sportive, Impôts FC, Jeunesse Star, Kumbo Strikers, Léopard FC, Lion Blessé, Lion Ngoma, Mont Cameroun, Ngaoundéré FC, Noblesse, Olympic Maroua, Olympic Muyuka, Olympic Mvolyé, Oryx Douala, Ouragan FC, Planet, PWD Bamenda, Racing Bafoussam, Renaissance Guider, Sanaga, Soleil FC, Stade Bandjoun, Victoria Utd, Vipère FC, Wouri FC, Young Stars, Zapazon **

Cameroon Academies: Kadji Sports Academy ***

* There are some teams (Like YOSA), who are apparently hard coded to be Youth status, and because of this they have no U20 squad. Nor are these teams allowed to use over age players in friendly matches, but they have no problem registering over age players for the league campaign. It is frustrating, though, if you want to manage one of these teams as you can't get your senior players match fit for the new season with friendlies.

** As mentioned previously - ALL confirmed REAL Ligue Regionale teams are stored in this "place-holder" division, available for promotion to the playable leagues, as well as a few others that I thought should have a chance of getting promoted at some point (like previous top teams Oryx Douala, Racing Bafoussam and PWD Bamenda... Neither of which ever came into the league system in my 30 year test-run, although Racing did show up in a 3-year run I had done previously)

*** Kadji Sports Academy was causing me a lot of trouble, but this is the best I could do. I needed them to create some great players, as they do in real life (Samuel Eto'o, Carlos Kameni, Eric Djemba-Djemba among others). This required them to have a reasonably high reputation, as well as excellent youth facilities and a decent training ground (which was all reasonably high in the original DB, although I boosted it slightly anyway). However, I did not want them promoted to the leagues and start dominating with their produced youngsters, so I created a fantasy "league" in which I placed them to prevent any chance of them getting promoted. They do take part in the FA Cup however (as in real life).

Sadly... my testing showed that players were not sold out of KSA as much as I was hoping (figuring a 1 league rep should ensure the good ones wanted out). For those playing the league, though - there's a hint... look into scouting KSA for young talent.

~~~~~~~
PLAYERS
~~~~~~~

I offer two seperate versions of this file. One with players added to the teams, one without them (allowing the game to populate the teams with generated players). However... I STRONGLY recommend using the one with added players in this case, as I ended up doing a number of tweaks to the finances and things after I had added the players to try to balance things out.

ALL players added to the DB are real players, but there is little to none research done on their attributes. Nor do the vast majority of them have any set age, unless I have been able to find that information.

Research in the original DB of Cameroon was shockingly poor, I must say. But, I have tried my very best to get this as accurate as possible... but given the hard truth that I've never seen a single Cameroon league match played irl, I can not guarantee it's accuracy.

While I have done my best to ensure that the players are playing in the correct teams, I will not claim that this is definitely the case. Some of those rosters are taken from a couple of seasons back, and some from last years teams. Finding information on the internet about the Cameroon league has been nothing short of a difficult task indeed. I have mostly been able to gather these from numerous (hundreds) news articles and match reports. The match reports were almost all only giving me the players last names, so I would have to take every name and do a search for news on them to figure out their first names at times.

I will tell you that I am a believer in realism, so I have not added anything unless I have been fairly certain I have got it correct... except, that they may not be at the correct team as of today. But, all players ARE real players - and if they aren't in the correct team NOW - they once DID play there (and not too long ago). This is the best I could do, given the fact that all I have is my computer and the wonders of internet to help me put together a somewhat realistic database of players.

The main reason for adding these (the way I see it) is so that the names database for NewGens are increased, and adding over 700 players and staff certainly did wonders for the variety in NewGen names. The other reason is, of course, trying to simulate reality as good as possible, and any players I have found evidence of being promising or good - I have made sure that they stand out from the rest of the bunch.

I have tried to add player CA to almost ALL players. This is because I am unhappy with how the game distributes those 0 valued players, as they tend to almost always be very poor in quality - meaning NewGen youths get into the starting 11 rather than the real first team players. As I don't know who's good and who's not in reality (with a few exceptions, of course) I have simply rolled a dice do set a level within the average quality, depending on the team and the league. For example; MTN Elite One ranges from 60-100 in terms of quality, where around 70 was considered average (and only a select few got around 100... namely those who I know for a fact are among the leagues best players). Numerous youth players have got some -6 and a few scattered -7's with a couple of -8's on a couple of players who are almost certainly going to be future Cameroon stars in reality.

Both chairmen and managers have been added to all teams I could find, and only Roumdé FC * (MTN Elite One), Scorpion FC and Renaissance Meiganga (MTN Elite Two) are in need of a manager at the start of the game.

* Roumdé FC for some reason is the only top division side I could find hardly ANY info on (not even their team colors)... any help there would be appreciated.

A FEW NOTES - BASED ON 30 YEAR HOLIDAY SAVE OBSERVATIONS

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THE BIG THREE:
Canon, Coton Sport and Union Douala are arguably the three biggest teams in Cameroon. I've found that they for the most part remain being the top dogs for years to come, with Tiko Utd (last seasons real life winners) often getting up there. I think this is realistic enough, but hopefully future tests will show that they CAN fall apart. Canon did, in the above save, and even spent one season in MTN Elite Two. They came straight back up, but were only a mid-table team as I stopped the game.
FINANCES:
This is something I've really struggled to get right. As it is now, I think that is the best I can do... but I did encounter some strange things.
The big three, and Tiko Utd, all had a lot more money than I would really like them to have. I don't know if there is anything I can do about it, since checking the rest of the teams saw them roughly the same way they started out 30 years ago. Union Douala were the ones who seemed to make the most money, and part of that is probably that they play in a large stadium, and even though the starting DB has them on roughly 9.000 average attendance, I found that they quickly reach 30.000 on average.
In addition to that, I found that it seems they are making a lot of money in the African Champions League, and with the big three getting a lot of play in these competitions that probably generates good money for them as well.
CAMEROON PLAYERS ABROAD:
While this test was done on a small database, and I believe that is the reason hardly a single player left for the big European market. Many players seemed to leave for Argentina and Brazil (especially goal keepers). Most others had left for Egypt, Algeria and Tunisia, and from there it seemed they moved on to smaller European sides (Russia, Belgium). My own investigation revealed only one player in a major team, and that was a left back at Manchester United.
Hopefully running European leagues simultaneosly will change this, as there was no lack of quality to be found. Many players that really should have left for bigger teams were still playing in the top Cameroon teams, and would be valued well above what African teams usually would get for their players (which is another contributing factor to the big three's finances, as they seemed to hang on to their good players till they received a million or so for them).
Either way... there is nothing I can do to increase the sales of players to other countries in this file.
FOREIGN TRANSFERS:
I also slightly increased and adjusted the transfer preferences in Cameroon, to include players from Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea and Chad. I increased the interest in the more common foreigners irl, such as Niger, Nigeria and Liberia.
However... after thirty years there were only four foreigners in the league. Really only one (from Ivory Coast, not even included in preferences), as the other three were; One French/Cameroonian - local product, but had opted for French U-19, and Two Argentinian/Cameroon players found in the U20's of Esperance FC, who had (interestingly enough) been taken over by former Argentina international Esteban Cambiasso.
I am not too worried about that, though, as this was done with a small database, and upon checking for example, Niger, they had zero players in the database after those 30 years (so it would be kinda hard for any teams to buy a player from there).
~~~~~~~~~~~~

A FINAL WORD

~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am quite happy with how this league turned out, even though I know there is a lot of things that could be improved to meet the realism expectations of myself and pretty much everyone else out there who are interested in this file.
With the two weeks of hard work I've put into this, I also want to continue to improve it in any way I can.
PM me, or post in this thread your suggestions, corrections and other feedback on this league.
Note: Only the Full Version will be supported for future updates of this league file.
thanks... Its compatible with other custom leagues/lower leagues Multi xml (at least after 73 xml it worked as 74th)
Yes, it should be compatible with lots of other xml's.
However, I do warn that there seems to be a problem with missing players and staff when you reach a certain limit, as I reported here:
http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php?t=165093
Although, I've got no official response on this issue, I certainly hope that this will be fixed before I intend to start my career save (got a few more leagues I want to set up to have included).
Splendid effort - but unfortunately your XML crashes my game. :( Can't even proceed to the league slection screen when setting up a new game. No other XMLs loaded! Anyone else experiencing this?
Both files result in crashes - the full AND the lite version!
Do you mean Roumdé Adjia FC? If so, then if I remember correctly their home colours are Green Shirts, Black Shorts, Green Socks.
I'll defo add this league to the leagues I'll be running in my journeyman career when my new PC arrives.
1 question for you... Is MTN Elite 2 split into the 3 zones?
1 question for you... Is MTN Elite 2 split into the 3 zones?
Could you find any pictures of Roumdé Adjia kits? I'd really like to see. Seems though, I am a bit off with my (un)educated guess of white and black stripes then :)
PS. Maybe I should change back to naming them the full Roumdé Adjia, but I did see different reports on how they write out the name... and having the full version tended get me confused since there is a stadium named Roumdé Adjia as well... and they don't even play their games at that stadium. (Long name is, of course, still Roumdé Adjia FC)
MTN Elite Two is not split into 3 zones, as it changed for the current season. It is now set up exactly like MTN Elite One - one league of 14 teams, 3 up, 3 down. Regional zones are then started from the 3rd level, and I could find absolutely no information on how that looks for the current season. I may consider activating the 3rd level in the future, if I can find enough information on it's rules and structure.
See current league table here:
Good work, nice to see someone going into as much detail as possible, testing and tweaking it.
Just out of interest are you planning to play in this league or move onto another nation?
I will be using this league in my career game - as one of MANY leagues :) I'll try to set up as many as my computer can possibly handle. In '09 I ran every single European, South and North American as well as Australia and South Africa (all divisions on all), and while it wasn't fast it was certainly a wonderful playing experience.
My playing career saw me getting jobs in Hungary, Denmark, Israel, U.S.A.,Poland, Northern Ireland and England. As well as international manager for Armenia, Jamaica and Guinea.
The editor has made me want to take this even further. I've never used the Asian leagues, because without J-League I just didn't feel it was complete. With the editor I want to expand on Africa, North America and Asia, so I'll probably be running 15 or so more leagues than last year... if my computer agrees to put in the extra work.
So - to answer your question. There are a couple more leagues that I will be looking to create, and release to the public. My previous Cayman Islands league was pretty much just to test this business out, and this one I really put a lot of effort into.
I don't know how much work I'll be doing on others, but unless someone else does it, I know Nigeria is one nation that will get the full treatment as well (waiting for someone else to tackle J-League). Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago are highly interesting as well. And, for Africa I hope to get good leagues running for Ivory Coast, Ghana, Algeria (had that one done, but made a couple of minor tweaks without backing up and ruined the file...), Egypt, Tunisia and possibly Senegal or Mali.
So, I've got a lot of work to do :)
I was about to start working on Costa Rica just now, but since their league structure is impossible to set up with the editor I will probably put that one aside for now. Might return and do a half-fantasy version of it later on, because I'd really like to have them active as well.
FuryG:
BTW - I'm really looking forward to your Mali league. Sounds like you are about as crazy as I, and want to make a really complete league file as well :) Heck - your mega-update is evidence enough...
Link to post
Share on other sites
Yeah - I'm still tweaking my Mali league, but I think it will be released very soon! :) It will contain around 600-700 lower league players that I didn't want to include in my African Meg DB, since they are contracted to clubs that I had to create from scratch... I also created many cities to model the geographical distibution of clubs, regional divisions and newgen names (diversity in newgen names ia amazing btw :))...
Btw - I cleared my cache and settings folder, now your xml works. Strange though...
Have you got a thread anywhere for that career? Would be an interesting read.
Was that with large db as well? Did you start unemployed with the lowest reputation? I can run quite a few leagues but I'm not exactly sure just how many would be comfortable. Do like the idea of running all of them, or at least all of Europe.
No thread for my career (might do one this year... although it isn't likely to start for quite some time).
That was with a large DB, as well as .edt files to load ALL premier division players from every country in the world (which is why I'm hoping the extra leagues in this years version will run roughly at the same pace, considering most reports suggest it's the number of players in the database that mostly slows things down... apart from processing fixtures, that is).
I run 3 managers in all my career saves (like to have a lot of variety and experience). One at Leeds - basically a cheat-manager, whom I replace should I get sacked... Leeds' fortunes in the game are up to me, as a Leeds supporter I can't leave them to the game.
One I usually start in the MLS (may opt for PDL team Central Florida Kraze if I choose to run more US leagues this year). And the final one is the LLM guy - starts unemployed and takes on the first job that he's offered (as a Sunday Leaguer of course). This year that fella is most likely to apply for jobs in Africa and have an African nationality... I'm leaning towards Botswanian.
Seems like the Top Goalscorer Award does not work properly. In my game, it's never the actual Top scorers who get the award. Seems like a bug in the game or in the editor... :(
That's odd. Works just fine for me.
Are you sure you're checking only the league top scorers, and not the overall top scorer (including cup)? The award is for the top scorer in the league only.
Link to post
Share on other sites
Yes, I'm sure. I have the same problem with my own Mali league: players with 3 or 4 goals were awarded the Top Goalscorer award, while there were others with 15 or 15 goals in the leage.
EDIT: But now I found out that I just had to go into the editor and then re-do all the award rules (so in the Tab "Top Goalscorer" I changed to something else like "Flair Player" and then back to "Top Goalscorer"). Did the same for all rules, and now it works.
I had to do exactly the same thing for my Mali awards - I duplicated other awards in the first place and just changed name, and the country/continent/league settings. Wouldn't work. I had to do the same procedure of re-assigning all rules for it to work properly. So strange.
Odd, but I can understand how 'refreshing' it would make it recognise what had been intended.
I found a similar issue with club colours - if you, say, want black shirts with a white trim, and select White as 'Foreground', but leave the 'default' Black, then it won't recognise it as the correct colour.
This really is a great effort, btw :thup: - Look forward to using it at some point, however I want to stick with Super_Bladesman's English file and have reservations about running multiple XMLs (risk of clashing ID's etc) - once that is sorted, which I'm sure it will be, then this league will certainly be loaded with plenty of others in my 'big' career game :thup:
O'Leary: Kadji should be able to play in the league, they did play in in the top division between 2004 and 2006. Also if you revert the boost you gave them in youth setup and reputation, they won't rice to fast into the top, if they ever does, but they will produce great youngsters anyway.
Also when you changed names of disbanded clubs and made new clubs, did you check the competition history? Some of the teams are in the DB even if they are disbanded so the competition history is correct.
Yes, I know Kadji should have a chance of being promoted at some point. However, since they aren't in the third (regional) division (as far as I could figure out) it does make sense to place them in a fourth level league (which if I modeled the game correctly they and a few more would be in there). The game then prevents them from ever being promoted since it doesn't calculate promotion/relegation within inactive leagues, and as such only teams in the league immediately below the lowest active one can ever be promoted.
I wanted to have Kadji in with a shout, but since I valued their production of quality youngsters more than the odd chance of them showing up in the league system I needed the higher rep. Using that kind of rep would see them guaranteed to be promoted after the first season, and it wouldn't be long before they started dominating Cameroon football, since they wouldn't have to sell those quality youngsters.
Not the best solution available, but the best I could do.
I did make sure that they take part in the Coup du Cameroun however, at the expense of one random third division team.
-------
As for the question about replaced teams - there were no competition histories in the original DB. All Cameroon teams were just placed into "A Premier Leauge" and "A Lower League". As I created the histories for the leagues there were only a couple of teams missing (neither of which I had replaced to my knowledge). Those history slots were left empty (maybe in a future version of this file I will create those missing extinct teams for the purpose of completing the history).
Anyway... admittedly... the replacing of names instead of creating new entries for teams is a decision I really do regret. However, by the time I realized what a poor decision it was, I was too far into the creation of this to start over. Changing them back also requires a LOT of work, as I would have to compare ID's to figure out which ones need to revert back to the old names. I would then have to transfer every single player manually to the correct teams, after creating the odd 20 or so NEW teams. Then I'd have to go over the histories again to make sure that everything is correct.
Still - this is something I may very well undertake for a future release of this file, just to set the record straight. There are also a few more teams that I know of that I would like to put in there (FC Bamenda was the only newly created team as I wanted to replace Kadji in the Regionals, and because I found good info on some of their players).
I understand your point with Kadji, but You don't have to boost their rep to have them produce good youngsters. I played with Nigeria made my own league, will be released if some bugs can be fixed) and loaded all players from Cameroon. After 7 seasons I've signed 10 Cameroonians and and all of them came from Kadji. And they all have become really good. So the solution is as I've said last time, revert the reputation boost and add them to the league, and you will see they probably keeps producing youngsters and the reputation will have them in the third tier.
This is an easy fix, just add the team that are missing in the history without setting their nationality and add them to the history. This will make them show in the history but they won't influence the game at all, and it won't be possible to view the team either.
I'm really confused - from what I know, Kadji won't produce any newgens anyway as long as they are in an unplayable lower league...???
No - they still produce youngsters the way I have set them. On average around 4 each new season.
So the solution is as I've said last time, revert the reputation boost and add them to the league, and you will see they probably keeps producing youngsters and the reputation will have them in the third tier.
I'll experiment with dropping the rep, maintaining the Youth rating and see what happens. If I like the results I'll bring them back into the 3rd level for the next release.
It taking it's time, but I've got most of the things done, just have to fix some small issues. I chose to register city altitude as meters, then being told that it should be feets. Then I have to fix this clubs being moved from competitions... I guess I have to do that editing the xml, not using the editor...
NEW VERSION AVAILABLE!!!
I have uploaded version 1.2 of my Cameroon League. Only minor changes made, but most importantly the bug where some teams where assigned Youth Status has been fixed (teams like YOSA).
I've also uploaded my Logo-Pack that I've used in the preview pictures here so you can get some of those Cameroonian logos in your game while playing the league.
Hope you'll enjoy!
