So they'll be quite a few people changing teams next season, also wonder how many people will choose FC United, assuming the game ever promotes them. MikelLUFC Posted May 4, 2008 Share Posted May 4, 2008 Hendon-BSS 2009-10 After finishing third last season and being beaten in the Semi-Finals of the playoffs by Dorchester I wanted to get out of this league. The http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/MikelLUFC/transfers.jpg[/img]]Transfers I made were quite positive (two missed off are Ray Parlour and Frank Sinclair bought for injury cover) and I was feeling quietly confident until I saw the quality of the relegated sides Weymouth in particular. The season started well but after a run of five games without a win I sat 5th and there I stayed for 31 games!!! The highlight of an ultimately average season was a 4-0 thumping of Weymouth towards the end of the season meaning I was the only team to do the double over them and of all their goals conceded I had scored over a quarter. Off it was onto the playoffs against Grays. The first leg started disasterously as we were 3-0 down by half time. Action was needed so I changed to a more positive 4-4-2 and put my young Bulgarian striker http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/MikelLUFC/balakov.jpg[/img]]Antoniy Balakov on and it worked we were 4-3 up!! Then disaster srtuck my CB decided to head the ball into his own net! But a draw was job done and we would take the http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/MikelLUFC/Playoff1stleg.jpg[/img]]4-4 back to Claremont road. The second leg started so well when Balakov fired home from 20 yards but that was the end of the cheer as we then conceded minutes later then my keeper did a Robinson and swung at the ball and missed as it trickled in. With that boost Grays flashed 2 more past my Keeper and we were 4-1 down with 25 minutes to go. We threw everything including the kitchen sick at them but they held strong, a Balakov tap in the only highlight of an otherwise miserable http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh22/MikelLUFC/Playoff2ndleg.jpg[/img]]4-2 defeat. So it will be BSS for another year but the relegated teams aren't as good so I hope I can capatalize. Despite 6 losses from 7 away games, we're currently 11th with 18pts from 14 matches but need to keep up the current good form to steer ourselves into safety. Most recent match home to Portsmouth saw a goal rush early like I've never seen before. AFC Wimbledon vs Portsmouth The last quarter of the game involved us halting the flood. Witton Albion 2023/23 - Premiership - Rodrigo De La Vega Quite a season all in all. I should break it down in to three parts really. First of all the league. After a slow start we gradually started to gain some momentum. We finished 7th for the third season in a row. Not technically much of an improvement over the last two seasons but we did get more points. If it wasn't for the squad running out of steam towards the end of the season then 3rd/4th could have been up for grabs (until the last game of the season 5th was). The players seem to be working well together and gelling fairly well. Managed to keep most of my players as well. Only shipped a couple of players out, a wing back and an attacking midfielder. They were breaking into the first team but they weren't willing to wait for a proper chance. Over the January window I picked up about 12 young players for peanuts and sent them off to feeder clubs to gain experience/permits. Hopefully some of them will come good and I'll have 'in-house' replacements for any losses to the first team. Victor Ballesteros and Steve Anson were fantastic. Victor got the player's player for the second year running, as well as smashing the club record of 41 goals in a season with an extra 3. Anson managed a decent haul himself and was a rock throughout the season. He made over 400 league appearances this season, 500 total and is edging close to 300 league goals. Despite his age and failing legs he really did well and should make the last few goals he needs next season. Blanchet played well and got the European Midfielder of the season. He got injured towards the end of the campaign which allowed budget winger Martins and young Wellington to step up and really impress. FA Cup To the semi's! We really suprised ourselves in this competition. We beat everyone put infront of us really well until the semi's, where we were drawn against Liverpool. A Liverpool who were one game away from the title. They beat us and they beat us well. Upsettingly we beat them in the league a few games later. I would have rather swapped the two around and gotten to the final. Europe It was the club's first ever foray into Europe. We started in the Vase and made our way through to the Euro Cup without breaking much of a sweat. We then got to the group stage which was all the board expected. We were drawn against Sevilla, PSV, Stabaek and Maritimo. So I was convinced we were going to have a few problems, maybe squeak through at best. We came out fighting though and beat Sevilla and PSV, drawing to Maritimo. We then knocked out Dynamo Kiev and Olympic Lyonaise to get to the Quarters. At the point I was over the moon. The board's expectations were well beaten and I was hoping this sucess would keep some of the more ambitous players happy. We then beat Napoli in the quarters. It was a great set of wins. The team play beautiful football. The next draw was against a less imposing Preston. Again we did the buisiness in the semi's...and again we were drawn against an English team in the finals. West Brom...who had finished 2nd in the league. It was going to be a tough tie at the Bernabeu It was a fantastic match . By half time we were two nil up thanks to a brace from the ever present, and competition top goal scorer, Ballesteros. West Brom then got a goal back in the second half before Victor got his hat trick, putting the score at 3 - 1 to us. West Brom then scored again leading to a very nervy and very entertaining finish. They had a corner in injury time which their keeper came up for. Their keeper was then completely floored by my vice captain Kogeldens. Thankfully our keeper stepped up and saved the penalty. Truly nail biting stuff! I'm not sure who is going to get Fan's Player of the Season. The last time it was won by anyone other than Steve Anson was 2012! And again he's a good bet for it. Next season? More silverware and at least 7th place again. I said it last time round as well, but it may be truer this time, that I need to break in another striker to replace the aging Anson. So this season, I started fresh, built a new tactic around my squad and the season went better than expected. I did think my squad was good enough to finish comfortably in the top half, but for much of the season, I was fighting hard for a play-off spot. Unfortunately, we came up short. Best Elevens - Season | Overall YP1 now has over 100 goals for the club. When I began that challenge, I never ever thought he would achieve such a thing. Other Info Club Info Finances Team Selection Manager Info Manager Overview Manager Profile Player Records Team Records Transfers Awards Ryan Charles - Top Goal Scorer, Runner Up (League only - 32 goals) Goal of the Season, Runner Up (John Sutton) Player of the Season Ryan Charles - With the new faster tactic, he molded in very well. A great return of goals, and he even helped with a lot of assists. Mark Cattermole - The first really decent player Charlton sent me on loan, and he proved very effective, scoring 28 goals in 33 games. John Sutton - signed for "the future", his stats took a massive boom when he hit 17. Darren Hallam - another signed for the future, but he became a first team regular this season. Great return from the winger, who will go on to be a legend at the club. Season Summary A brilliant season. Another journey to the second round of the F.A Cup, a setanta shield final, lost 8-7 on penalties, and a F.A Trophy run that was ended in injury time of extra time, finishing 4-5. George Powell - FC - Only took this guy on Trial because he was 14 at the time. As soon as I saw him, I thought he had promise.! Look at those physical attributes for a 15 year old.!!! Its been a great couple of years with the club establishing itself as one of the top clubs in the Premiership. Still no win though League Tables Every season we have been moving up. We have been doing great 2015/16 2016/17 2017/18 Cups Yet to win a cup since the single FA Trophy we won many a year ago. We have been unlucky though, cant seem to win at Wembley since the Championship play off final. League Cup 1st Appearance League Cup 2nd Appearance FA Cup 1st Appearance Best XI 2015/16 2016/17 2017/18 As you can see ive gradually become more attacking. Started out at 5 at the back and moved forward since. Weird one was when Joe Mason made it in with only 2 appearances?! Overall Best XI Still a lot of players from my days in the lower leagues. Ashley Barnes still amazes me with his form and as you can see is keeping up his amazing goalscoring. Players Heres some notable players from past 3 years. Peter Van Der Zwan Rock at the back. Keeping whole team steady around him. Ales Lexa Signed a while ago and was sent on loan for 2 seasons to Villareal. Has come back a real gem of a player and interest is piling in. Nicolas Millan My record signing up until last season. Great player, cost 12 million from Watford. Danny Murdoch New record signing this season. £16 million and hes worth it. Belize international whose played his career in England Extras The Club Golden Barney As for this season coming, there is a lot of expectations. The big 4: Arsenal Liverpool Watford Tiverton, are likely to fight out the league again. Im hoping to break into the Arsenal Liverpool title dominance and finish 2nd this year at least. sergent21 Posted May 6, 2008 Share Posted May 6, 2008 sergent21 - BSS - Mangotsfield Town - Season 3 So here we are, in the BSS for a 3rd campaign. Having failed to gain promotion in the previous two seasons, I was fairly confident of at least getting a playoff place. The season stated pretty well, with us withstanding heavy pressure off numerous teams to grind out some valuble wins. The Cups were poor again, and still have not reached the 1st round of the F.A Cup, seems like everytime I get going, I get a bigger better team, and just seem to underperform. As the season was getting to the end, there was us, Salisbury and last year's losing playoff finalists Tiverton. With two games left, we were lingering in 3rd place, but with Salisbury and Tiverton having tough games, I felt we had a chance to sneak into the automatic places. As it happened, Salisbury lost and Tiverton drew, and with my victory meany I went top on GD with 1 game remaining, meaning it was all in my own hands. I sunsequently won the final game 2-0 away to Welling, meaning the other results were irrelavent, we were Champions As the graph shows we were never to far away, and with 8 consecutive wins in Feb/March, we were alwaysin contention. The squad that gained us promotion, and I personally feel that with 1 or 2 new players in certain positions, this is definatley a squad that can, and will compete at the higher level next year, with Joshua Home-Jackson by far and away my best player As before, I would keep an eye on the best players to come through the youth system every season. My first youth project didn't play a huge amount, and I feel hasn't got the required ability to step up a level, but will keep hold of him, because you never know... My second yout project was a goalkeeper, and although he looked decent, I knew he wouldn't get much of a look in during the campaign. He ended up playing the 2 most important games of the season, the last two league games, and played really well, he looks like he could forge a career in lower league football, but I don't think has enough quality to play league football. Rickaldo Posted May 6, 2008 Share Posted May 6, 2008 AFC Hornchurch - The Championship - Season 2016/17 My first season in the Championship and relegation was once again the predicted outcome from both the media and the board. I told the board that i would attempt to avoid relegation but was hoping for a mid table finish before pushing into the playoffs next year. For the first 5 months of the season we've been relocted to QPR's stadium as we are going through another expansion so that should boost the finances nicely. The first transfer window brought about 7 new signings mostly from Eastern Europe, the most notable additions were Scott Dann on a free transfer from Huddersfield, Turek a Czech left back who cost £400k from Sparta Prague and a new goalkeeper signed from Maribor for free named Dejan Ilic. As for sales i thought that i had managed to hold on too all of the players i wanted to keep until i stupidly negotiated a bid for Kevin Rodgers that was accepted by the chairman and that was the end of Rodgers' glorious career at Hornchurch. Rodgers' History. The season started with an opening fixture against newly relegated Ipswich, a 0- 0 draw wasn't the most exciting fixture i'd ever been involved in but was a decent start with only 10 men on the pitch. The next game saw us defeat Watford 2-1 but then a run of 7 league games without a win, including 4-1 defeats against both Everton and Bristol City left us hovering above the relegation zone. Next up an away game at West Ham was not the easiest of places to try and halt a losing streak so a quick click of the counter attack box and a 2-1 away victory was acieved with only 2 shots on target. The improved form carried on through October and a 4-1 away defeat of Wolves was easily the best performance of the season so far. December started well with two wins and two clean sheets but then four defeats in a row all by a single goal dropped us back down the league to 16th postion. Not much happened in January apart from the signing of Luke Thomas from Shamrock Rovers for £65k. On to February and 4-1 reverse result against Bristol City started a decent run of five game undefeated which meant that we were now in 13th position and no longer in any danger of relegation, which was nice . Even though we were guaranteed to stay up my formation was not really working as my strikers were useless in the air, a change to a 4312 attacking with lots of through balls rather than crosses helped me destroy Derby 4-0 and end the season in a respectable 12th. Final Table Graph In other news i recieved my first job offer from Plymouth and rejected it, and also as everyone seems to be tracking youth players here is my player that will now be tracked. I like keeping progress of players, especially players who are supposed to have a bright future. I used to do i my own ways a few versions back, but there was no weight to it, so had to give up on it. I also noticed that Rickaldo mentioned about his youth project, but he's in the Championship, so his player puts ours to shame. Also a quick question, from now on, when I do the seperate Youth Project update, could I use your template...... This one... "Every year we get a new batch of youth players, and the Ass Man singles out the best one of them. (I'm assuming they have the best P.A of the group.) My aim is to take this player, give them some first team football, and track their career, be it at Real London, or should they move on. Each season I will add a new player to the reports, (naturally) and just think it could be fun, interesting and informative of what happens with them." Lanthal Posted May 7, 2008 Share Posted May 7, 2008 My pre-season for the 2012/2013 season has just been completed by Tivvy and for a team picked to be 16th in BSP this year the pre-season games were... varied... vs Cork City 1:3 They should have won by more. First game of the new season though so I wasn't overly concerned. vs Bristol Rovers 0:2 We played better than I expected this game. Didn't get many shots though which didn't help our cause vs Plymouth 1:8 Ow. That's all I have to say. I didn't expect to do that well against a L1 team but this was abysmal. vs Bangor City 1:1 another disappointing result for a team that should be well and truly dominating teams like this. vs Bideford 2:0 First win of the pre-season but still disappointing as we should have walloped these guys. vs Alvechurch 2:0 I honestly have no recollection of this game... vs Peterborough 3:1 This was a surprise and frankly we should have won by more. We were all over them and they never really looked like they were in the game. vs Exeter 0:2 Not the desired end to the pre-season run. We had a decent share of shots but they just played better. I've made some good signings for the new season and might have an absolute gem of a player in Danny Potter Who came with the new youth intake. ejthegreat Posted May 7, 2008 Share Posted May 7, 2008 January 2020 and it finally happened. My wonderkid is upset with me for not allowing him to move to Inter Milan Pedro unhappy. Thankfully he has 3 1/2 more seasons in his current contract so I'm at least hopeful things will improve in that time. The Inter bid I negotiated but that wasn't good enough I guess. Of more pressing concern is that Chambers is keeping his options open with his contract running out soon. Looking at his history, his last 2 transfers have been frees so it's no guarantee he'll sign on. This is a huge problem because not only is he our current leading goal scorer, he's also my main tutor for young strikers. In fact, he's currently on his 4th pupil, Kebe who according to my scouts/coaches has enormous potential. Kebe's report The main problem is that Kebe has struggled to settle into the area and so I'd like Chambers to stay around and help. Chambers' record with tutoring is very good. Of the previous 3, 2 of them now have him as favoured personnel and 1 did ok but not great. When I suggested it to Kebe he was "looking to learn" and Chambers was "delighted to tutor" so likely to be 3 out of 4. One other minor concern is I'm 4th for yellow cards and that's seen about 2 players/month missing a match through yellow card accumulation. Bolstered by a few big signings I was quite sure we could break into the top 2. And we did it, just. 2018/19 No where near Liverpool tbh, but we were always second throughout the season. Came close at the end to dropping into 3rd but the lads kept going just enough. We also reached the FA Cup final for the second time in my career. FA Cup. It was a great day for fans and players alike, and who else to score the two but Ashley Barnes. This win stopped Liverpool from getting the quadruple as well. Champions League. It was a tough group with AC Milan Fenerbache and Monaco. But we got through it with a famous night infront of a packed the Tiverton Stadium...Great night We then were drawn with Real Madrid and along came my best ever result. 2nd leg, Bernabou, wow! We had pregressed once more, and then passed Porto with ease in the Quarters. The semi finals were against Roma. Semi Final. It was a great effort from the boys in our first Champions League appearance and we were unlucky not to make the final. Players True Tiverton Legend Ashley Barnes was once more on top form, getting the European Golden Boot for a second season running. He scored his 400th goal for the club and then went on to get his 414th in the FA Cup final. Amazed that England prefer a 33 year old Wayne Rooney to him, and doesn't seem like he will ever get an England cap Danny Murdoch proved to be a great signing. He is now 29 and there is a lot of interest coming in. Thinking of selling him now, before age takes hold of him. Best XI This season - here Overall - here (note Ashley Barnes) Bruce - have gave him 2 first team appearances after great form for reserves and 18s. Not just a few, alot. On FM07 I held the record for most games without a cleansheet. (37 in a row!) Even the seasons I do well I conceed around the same as the bottom clubs. I started this one lost the first game 7-4 and lost the second 6-3. So I have no problem scoring either. No matter how defensive I go the goals leak from everywhere. I start things, meaning to get on with them, but somehow never manage to get into them. But this time I am DETERMINED! I've had it with boring of games after 3 seasons, and I decided that I need a good, simple long-termer to send off FM08. I will not start any other games, I will not stop playing this one until I have won the Prem/Champions League, I have deleted all of my previous games(!) My previous feeble attempts have been taken off the challenge, now I holiday, and I wait! So, epic talk over, let's hope for the lowest rep team possible. Mike_Cardinal - I know exactly what you mean mate, I always get the itch to start again. I finished last years though and it was without a doubt the best FM/CM game I've ever had. It can get a bit tedious and I nearly started again but I missed my players too much and took the Whitby mantle back up and never looked back. Still remember half my team to this day.
