Wiitastic
September 15, 2009 UEFA present Michel Platini's plan to make clubs to live within their means has been approved at an executive committee meeting. Dubbed "financial fair play", the new rules will in principle ban clubs from spending more than they make from their revenues and aims to end of the trend of rich owners buying into the game and transforming the fortunes of a club. "We don't want to kill or hurt the clubs, on the contrary we want to help them in the market," Platini told reporters, adding he had the support of the clubs. "The teams who play in our tournaments have unanimously agreed to our principles," he added. Platini said the new rules would be implemented in the 2012/13 season and clubs who failed to abide by them could ultimately be thrown out of European competition. Domestic championships will not be affected. ----------------------- Don't really see the point of this. Seeing how in 2007/2008, Man Utd's revenue was 324 million euros. I doubt Man Utd would even come close to spending even half that much. So obviously this should be included in the FM release in october 2012 ? DivineOne
Maybe not a point for big clubs. But this is prolly rather to protect the small clubs which definitely spend more than they have.
Richardav
will it help clubs with bigger stadiums and better shirt selling? the smaller clubs may be better of in terms of money but might have trouble competing with the bigger clubs. Wiitastic
Football forum clearly not. I asked if it would be included in the game in 2-3 years as that is when the rule will start. Just like the other thread does
SI Staff Ter Posted September 15, 2009 SI Staff Share Posted September 15, 2009 clearly not. I asked if it would be included in the game in 2-3 years as that is when the rule will start. Just like the other thread does Most of the time we've not even discussed it yet, especially when questions are asked 10 mins after they are announced

Katarian
It won't work, the clubs that want to will get around it. Look at Notts County in League 2 they got around the Wage Cap by the owners giving masses of money that could be put under revenue rather then as gifts on the balance sheet. UEFA hardly have a great record and after the Eduardo thing they look like a bunch of chumps, so the odds of this sticking are pretty low.
