SCIAG
I have a question about the league editor: if, in real life, a league splits, would you have to have that split in? For example, could I activate only the Southern most or Northern most leagues of a nation?
Twellman24
It doesn't cost anything, SI invite you to become an affiliate. Exactly. And I've been trying for three years. I think we've done our share of begging.

guspjmh
Not too impressed with the tactics creator, as I hated it on FML, but the game certainly sounds promising. Looking forward to hearing the new features.
fdawsoniv
It'd be quicker to watch a game with "key" highlights and fastest game speed than it will be to pore over the data from a match analysis tool... Yes. What I mean is that the tool will give me more information than the key highlights will, without requiring watching a full game.
Schwarzmanne
Hi Miles and SI team, I've been through several hundred posts on the thread and my eyes are going I wondered if you could possibly let us know if the Tactics are going old school? I remember one or possibly several versions of champ man that allowed you to dictate to your players where you wanted them dependant on A) What quadrant of the pitch the ball was in & B) Which side actually has posession. This allowed for some awesome, realistic, formations and playing styles. I recall tweaking my 3-5-2 to perfection and with Kim Kallstrom (when he was still in Sweden) consistently picking up 30/40 goals and assists within a season and a very special season when Peter Prospar smashed in 100 odd goals for my Club Bruge team. I've found it the FM series that 3-5-2 is very difficult to get right and I normally play a boring diamond midfield for full effect. I miss having wingers Also, any slight possibility of backward compatibility so I can bring my old sides through to the new version? We get very attached to out teams and players and it makes it heart breaking to buy the new version of the game and say goodbye, which of course you do bacause you can't resist. I don't care how slow and clunky the conversions would be, it would just be very cool. I'd just like to Add, I really struggled with 2008 and didn't really get into it, and as an experienced pro (playing since the first champ man) I am really loving 2009 and actually find it works a damn sight more efficiently than previous versions when you stack up the Playable Leagues, etc. Didn't want to move onto 2010 but after reading this can't wait. Those features were specific to the "Live" platform, and utilised a lot of Microsoft's technology to be possible. you could make your own technology to make it work . its not that unreasonable , if its possible with FM live , its possible with FM 2010 you only need to mimic and adapt the FM live system I feel that you guys don't want such a feature on FM 2010 because that would take costumers from FM live

Maple
No offense mate, but it clearly wasn't realistic given Kallstrom's performance was it! While Källström might have been SLIGHTLY overrated, as a 16-18 yo did he perform at a higher level than Zlatan Ibrahimovic did at the same age. Källström was a first team regular before turning 17 of a team promoting to the top tier. He was regarded as the best player at his club in the top tier and bossing the midfield before being 18. His development more or less stopped after going to Djurgården while Zlatan continued to improve for several years.

Bennico
Sound wise, it was down on the list of things to look at this year, and there've been a few bug fixes, but no major overhaul. Other things were deemed more important and we don't have a sound code specialist. We'll look at it again next year, but I'm not promising anything at this stage. Hi Miles, thanks for your ongoing communication with us. I am very hopeful from reading your above quoted message, that something which was a real bane for me on FM09 may have been rectified, which I hope you can clarify for me please? I made a sound pack for FM09, which I was pleased with except for one thing, which really began to rankle with me. No matter what I edited/altered in the code, everything worked fine, with the exception of goal celebrations. No matter what I tried, sometimes after scoring a goal, there would be no goal celebration from the crowd; which, as I'm sure you can imagine, kind of took the gloss off of my creation for me. Having spoken to other FM players of their experiences, I learned that some also had this issue who were not even using my sound pack, so I am hoping that you can confirm my suspicions that the celebrations sometimes not working was a game issue, and that it is one of those sound issues that you stated in the above quote have been resolved? I am very keen to create a new sound pack for FM2010, but that enthusiasm will be tempered somewhat if I am going to encounter the same frustrations with coding in new goal celebrations as I have experienced for 09. Many thanks in advance for your time to respond. Best Regards, Benn Robinson.
CHINNERY
Please dont put in the stupid copy protection in it this year. It doesnt even work , the pirates had it up on the net within a couple of days , the only difference being you couldn't go on holiday in the pirated version. Hamselv
Hi Mile,FM's strongest opposition is FIFA, but we still insist of FM cos we want them to have wide edge over other managerial video games. Only if we cant reach SEGA/SI Games shall we push it to FIFA.Already we have pressure to push it with FIFA which is easier to contact, but for the love of the game & passion, we chose FM. We are company registered in Nigeria. Sounds like some of the spam mails I receive. I'm guessing a rich relative of yours passed away, and you need SI to help you get an enormous inheritance out of Nigeria, right? The way you are trying to use "FIFA" to pressure SI is rather pathetic, and if you are from Nigeria, then how come some of the profiles you have recently created in other FM releated forums lists your location as Abu Dhabi? johnnycomelately
Quick MLS question: I understand it's possible to add lower leagues so I could put USL-1 and USL-2 in in MLS, but I'm wondering how the draft system will work. As it is now, regens are added to these clubs and are drafted into MLS, but if those clubs are already in the league then how will teams that don't generate regens receive new players? Raiding the lower leagues (not that I'm too averse to that, haha). Also, will it be possible to edit hardcoded MLS rules like the salary cap and roster slots? I probably wouldn't get rid of the cap entirely, but raising it every other year would be great to keep pace with the growth of the league. The roster limit is such a burden though, just ask the real life Toronto FC. Thanks for all the feedback.

Feature blogs are due mid-next week apparently; to date there has been one about the decision making process and other about data capture (the latter leading to lots of bickering but definitely worth a read if you fancy a laugh.) Mikke
Looks like there's only one thing about this game that is NOT impressive. And that's the price of it. It has gone up 25% from FM09. surf12
Personally i think the game is going to be a success if the match engine is good. That's the most important thing in any football management game. Secondly, please don't let it run slow.......if it doesn't run properly on my two year old macbook i'll be well disappointed. FM2009 is pretty good already. Only annoyance is the frequentish 0-1's when you have 15+ SOT and the opposition scores from their only chance. That's been a problem for as long as i can remember, hopefully it's sorted this time round. I'm very excited about the new way to set up tactics. Powermonger
I thought I'd drop in tonight and see if any news was out about FM2010 and I got to say I like what I'm reading! I haven't played FM for about 18 months, I even got FM2009 at Christmas but never played it because it just felt the same old grievences were there. I'm really liking that SI are finally addressing tactics and giving them a make over and stoked that proper match analysis is now in the game. It's comforting to see you guys at SI listen, even if it has taken a while to make the necessary changes many of us past and present have raised over and over since Wibble/Wobble disappeared. I haven't felt so excited about a FM release since CM4 came out FM2010 will be on my 'must get' list for sure now. To think I had all but given up hope on the game, now the series shows promise again.

Schwarzmanne
No offense mate, but it clearly wasn't realistic given Kallstrom's performance was it!3-5-2 should be easier to get right in FM2010, have read somewhere the new match engine is giving better defensive AI (positional sense and tracking back) to wing backs/wide midfielders in full-backless formations. I totally agree that it wasn't realistic, it was only after months and months of tweaking plus many seasons signing the best youngsters around that my team was capable of such stupidity. I'm telling you it was great fun and great reward for much toil in the belguim league. In previous versions Kallstrom was incredible, I still happen to think he's an awesome midfielder in real life, a little slow maybe. The point I'm getting at is the ability to tweak a formation to work how you want it to and players being able to do what you actually want them too (ability permitting). We are probably talking Champ man form 10-15 years ago which is probably why it was able to become so un-realistic after a point. Even with FM07/08 & 09 I've had teams such as my beloved Everton, Millwall and even Stevenage go several seasons unbeaten in the prem, although much of my life has (for better or worse) been devoted to Champ Man & FM when it was re-branded it is still a game and the better/more knowlegable you are about a game really should allow it to become easier. Miles, I'd still love a little information regarding the new Tactics section and the improbable backwards compatibility question if you have five minutes

rhydymwyn
Hello SI, The screenshots looks awesome! Quick Question: will this be released in the U.S on the same date (assuming it'll be called WSM2010)? It looks like you can buy the game from Sega.com in the same manner as Football Manager if you've got a PC. If someone from SI (or elsewhere) can remind me, please... why can't I pre-order WWSM for Mac? I can't find a US website that carries it and there doesn't seem to be a download mechanism for Mac. I vaguely recall a discussion about this for a previous incarnation of the game, but I don't remember the result. Obviously, it is possible to download, pay for, and register games online for a Mac (OOTP, for example), so why not WWSM? Even if we can't download it, it would be nice to get the game out to the States via pre-order somehow.
AlbionMan
Because I'm old enough to remember the good old days I cannot wait to get my hands on the editor and change the league names to Div 1, Div 2, Div 3 & Div 4. If only the 3d engine came in sepia. Its time to change the Scottish league as well to have 4 leagues each with 20 teams and use up some of those non league team names. Eventually I might actually play the game after all the editing.
