Aberdeen, The SPL challenge!

Stuart Johnston

Recommended Posts

I forgot to post some results, here they are.

Motherwell 1 vs 1 Aberdeen

McDonald Martin

Rangers 2 vs 1 Aberdeen

Ferguson Craig

Fetai

Raith 0 vs 3 Aberdeen

Eagles

Adams

Caballero

Eagles joins Aberdeen on a 1 year loan contract, no doubt Aberdeen will be bidding that 325k that Man Utd want for him, at the end of his loan contract.

Severin moves to Rangers for a cool £1million, but he got one last present from the fans, Boo's! He was very unpopular with the fans, and in his first game for Rangers, against Aberdeen, he got himself sent off, after a vicous tackle on Adams. Diamond also moved, 210k to Celtic, after saying he wanted to move. Stuart then Transfer Listed him, and dropped him from the Squad.

Pittodrie, Aberdeen Attendence: 13851

Aberdeen 2 - 0 Livingston

Aberdeen came in as favourites, and came out winners, same old story now and now we want to see them lose, NOT! Now it seems they could be ready to go second place, thats if, Stuart's Army can keep getting results. Craig getting both the goals, late on in the first half and late on in the second half. Eagles once again produced a good performance, good enough to be named Man of the Match.

East End Park, Dunfermilne, Attendence: 11373

Dunfermilne 0 - 1 Aberdeen

Aberdeen remain second after a 1-0 win over Dunfermilne, but Rangers are not giving up, now two games behind Aberdeen, and 5 points, Rangers are still looking good for that second place, but Stuart Johnston said <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content"> We ain't gonna let Rangers pass us easily, Celtic have won the title, ok, not offically, but their quite ahead of us, and Rangers. Ok, Rangers are only 5 points behind us, and yes, we have played more games, but, even they've got to admit, we have a strong Midfield, with Filekovic, Eagles and Adams, Rangers have Ferguson, and thats pretty much it, so, the way I see it, we have a good chance. </div></BLOCKQUOTE> Steven Craig scored the only goal after 19 minutes, but a big blow for Aberdeen as Filekovic had to leave the pitch after getting injured, but can Aberdeen get that place in the Champions League, or will they just settle with the UFEA cup?

Pittodrie, Aberdeen, Attendence: 18863

Aberdeen 2 - 0 Hibs

After Rangers dropping 5 points in their last two games, Aberdeen looked to keep their third place against Hibs, and, thanks to Adams and Mackie. Clark, who replaced injured Filekovic, was man of the match, and looked in good shape to get a first team place. Captain Adams opened up the scoring after 82 minutes, while it took another 8 minutes for Mackie, who came on for Craig, to get his 3rd goal of the season. Steven Fletcher came on as a sub on the 63rd minute, only to be sent off within 20 minutes.

Ibrox, Glasgow, Attendence: 45910

Rangers 1 - 1 Aberdeen

If Rangers won, they would revive Champions League hopes. If Aberdeen won, Rangers would of stood, virtually no chance of beating going ahead of Aberdeen. But a draw....means the battle goes on. Still a few games until the League Split, Aberdeen will be hoping to be even more ahead of Rangers, who just lost 2-1 to Hearts in the Scottish Cup Quater-Final on Wednesday. Things started badly for Aberdeen, as Steven Craig was injured after just 1 minute. Then, as revenge, they injured Fetai, only for his replacement, Prso, scored one minute after coming on. Both teams held out, and Aberdeen soon started shooting left, right and centre, but Eagles had a great free-kick saved by Klos, before Heikkinen scored on the 69th minute for Aberdeen. Both teams have a lot to fight for, but will one of them fall under the pressure? And will McLeish get his P45? And if so, will Johnston be tempted to take it? As I say a lot, who knows?

Aberdeen 1 - 0 Dundee Utd

In a game Dundee Utd ruled, it was Derek Adams with a pen, just before half-time, that won it. The Dundee Utd defence seemed to keep stopping the Aberdeen Strikers, but Suad Filekovic was the only player who gave the defence troubles, but Baxter, the Dundee Utd goalie, seemed untroubled, earning himself a Man of the Match.

Caledonian Stadium, Inverness Attendence: 6453

Inverness 2 - 3 Aberdeen

In this close game, Aberdeen edged out to beat Inverness, and hopefully, a CL place. Rangers, who recently sacked Alex McLeish, beat Raith 4-0 to keep the pressure up, but if Aberdeen keep their form, it'd be hard to see Rangers go ahead of the Dons. Fabian Caballero (2) and Eagles got the goals for Aberdeen.

Pittodrie, Aberdeen, Attendence: 12792

Aberdeen 2 - 0 Raith

Who would of thought Aberdeen would be ahead of Rangers, by 10 points? Yep, its all but over, except if Aberdeen end up losing a lot of games and Rangers beat everyone, but for some reason, that seems Unlikely. New Rangers boss, Roy Hudgson, the ex-viking boss, said: <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content"> Aberdeen will fall, we know it, if Aberdeen end up beating us, I will eat your hat! </div></BLOCKQUOTE> Luckily I don't have a hat so he can't eat it!

Anyway, back to the match, without Filekovic they still managed to play well. Edilson, after coming off the bench, and Steven Craig, got the goals. Edilson still looks set to leave, but will the ex-Brazillian International impress Stuart during the remainder of the season?

Aberdeen maybe far ahead in the race for 2nd place, but after this result, it has given Rangers a slight hope, one can only hope that Aberdeen don't keep losing, or was Roy Hudgson claim that Aberdeen will fall right? Who Knows?

Aberdeen took the lead on the 21st minute by a good Fabian Caballero effort. But McKenna and Wyness were there to spoil the party, and Edilson, who came on as a sub, nearly scored, the post being a better goalkeeper then Roddy McKenzie at that moment.

Fir Park, Motherwell, Attendence: 11201

Motherwell 1 - 1 Aberdeen

After losing to Hearts, they needed a win, or hope Hearts hold Rangers back. But, on the first minute, Scott McDonald scored his 19th goal of the season, and they seemed to want to keep the score like that, keeping out Caballero and Puustinen, and their goalkeeper played a big part of it. After Lewis Guy came on for Puustinen, he seemed to test Dabanovic's goalie skills, including three shot from inside the box, two free-kicks, and a header, which led to his first ever goal for Aberdeen, on the last minute.

Dunfermilne 0 - 2 Aberdeen

On the day Celtic offically won the title, beating Rangers 2-1, Aberdeen went 10 points ahead of the Gers, with just 4 games, and 12 points, left to play for, so that means, the Dons are one win away from a Historic 2nd place, the last time a non-old firm team been second was in the 94/95 season, when Motherwell made it to second, with Hibs third and Celtic 4th. Aberdeen took the lead thanks to an Andrius Skerla own-goal. He must forgot he was meant to wait AFTER he moves to Aberdeen to start scoring. Fabian Caballero made it 2-0 after 56 minutes.

Fir Park, Motherwell, Attendence: 10033

Motherwell 2 - 2 Aberdeen

Aberdeen blew a 2-0 lead, thanks to Craig and Edilson goals, but still secured 2nd place after Rangers could only manage a 1-1 draw against Hearts. Aberdeen's first Champions League appearence in a while, they'll be hoping they could repeat what they did in 1983, Aberdeen's own 1966, in a way, beating R.Madrid in the final of the Cup Winners Cup. In those days, McLeish, Miller and Leighton became heroes, and their manager went on to become Man Utd's most sucessful manager ever. Now its Filekovic, Eagles, McGuire, Stillie, Caballero and Adams, and their manager.....someone who is still named a rookie. Back to the match, after Caballero got injured for Aberdeen, and Hamilton for Motherwell, Craig got an easy tap-in to put the Dons 1-0 up. Then Edilson, Caballero's replacement, scored a good header, Filekovic providing the cross. But on the 71st minute, Austraillian international Scott McDonald got a goal, and three minutes later, got naother one. After that goal, Aberdeen got aggressive, but it didn't matter, they were second, next up, Celtic, then Hearts, then Rangers, hard matches.

The two best teams in Scotland playing against each other, no, not the old firm, but Aberdeen and Celtic. In a nearly full stadium, people watched as Aberdeen battled against Celtic. But after just 7 minutes, Chris Sutton put the ball past Derek Stillie, and the Aberdeen side of the stadium were quiet. But, after Edilson's shot from 25-yards out went in, the Aberdeen fans starting their chants of "Championies* and singing *We are the Champions*, despite being second to Celtic. Zander Diamond got a good reaction from the Aberdeen fans after coming on for Petrov on the 60th Minute, and at the end of the game, despite picking up a yellow card soon after coming on.

Aberdeen has just shown why they ended up ahead of them, you don't need a big load of money to win matches, you need Experience mixed in with some Young-Guns, Edilson, Stillie and Djorkaeff for the Experience and Eagles, Clark and McNaughton for the young-guns. Stillie has commanded the no.1 Jersey since the Euro Vase semi-final against Viking. Edilson got both the goals, but Stillie made fantastic saves to keep out Prso, Novo and the gang. One day till the first Champions League match, I decided to put in a report of the squad for the 06/07 season.

Goalkeepers:

Derek Stille: 32 years old, Scotland, 0 caps 0 goals

Good goalie, might struggle to keep his no.1 jersey, but will put up a fight.

Azmir Begovic: 19 years old, Canada, 0 caps 0 goals

Great back-up, given the chance, might hold a first team place, still young though.

Defenders:

Phil McGuire: 26 years old, Scotland, 0 caps 0 goals

Our best defender, commanded the defence all season, could be next captian.

Markus Heikkinen: 27 years old, Finland, 16 caps 1 goal

Good player, easily will keep a first team place.

Andrius Skerla: 29 years old, Lithuania, 43 caps 0 goals

New player, seems to be ok, ex-captain od Dunfermilne, where I've bought a few players from (Stille, and one certian striker)

Kevin McNaughton: 23 years old, Scotland, 2 caps 0 goals

Still quite young, despite the fact hes been a member of the first team for 6 years.

Was quiet last season, but the second of five players going for the Captains Armband.

Lee Wilkie: 26 years old, Scotland, 13 caps 1 goal

Signed for 85k during last season's January Transfer Window, after a debut goal, remained quiet, and will be rotating with Skerla all season.

Defenders Transfer Listed: Craig Sives

Midfielders:

Suad Filekovic: 27 years old, Slovenia, 32 caps 0 goals.

Was poor all season, for Slovenia, world-class for Aberdeen, never getting a 6 or lower. Third person going for the Captains Armband.

Marcel Mbayo: 28 years old, Congo, 47 caps 4 goals.

Despite helping Congo to the World Cup, Mbayo was on a free transfer, luckily I snapped him up, everyone was pleased about it!

Christopher Eagles: 20 years old, England, 0 caps 0 goals.

One of our stars of last season, signed him for just over 500k after a good loan spell. Great future, but will be a first team player for as long as he stays.

Michal Svec: 19 years old, Czech Republic, 0 caps 0 goals.

U-21 star, snapped him up on a free. A great pre-season, will be on the bench this season, possibly beating Adams to a first team place.

Derek Adams: 31 years old, Scotland, 0 caps 0 goals.

Our captain, replacing Youri Djorkaeff, who decided to be our coach from now on. Adams still got a few years in him, might struggle to keep a first team place, and more importantly, the captains armband. Hes no.4 out of 5.

Strikers:

Noel Hunt: 23 years old, Ireland, 8 caps 1 goal

Played well in the world cup, singed him from Dunfermilne for 220k, then 110k a year for 2 years. SPL's top scorer last season, ahead of Foran and Caballero.

Fabian Caballero: 28 years old, Argentina, 0 caps 0 goals.

Ex-Arsenal (never played one game) and Dundee striker was a surprise hitman last season, and will be hoping to work well with Hunt.

Lewis Guy: 20 years old, England, 0 caps 0 goals

Back-Up, a great guy when given the chance, and with Mackie and Craig hopefully leaving, he will get a bigger chance this season.

Edilson, Mackie and Craig have all been transfer-Listed.

Interview with The Sun

SR = Sun Reporter

SJ = Stuart Johnston

SR = Hello

SJ = Hey

SR = 4-0, you must be happy with that result

SJ = Yeah, better them I expected....saying that, I now expect them to win around 5-0 in the next-leg.

SR = Isn't that a bit Ambitious?

SJ = Yeah, I suppose.

SR = Hunt had a brilliant debut, will he be the star for Aberdeen?

SJ = Of course.

SR = McGuire came out captain, is he the next captian?

SJ = As you know, I have 5 people in mind, McGuire is just one of them. Whoever is the captain on our best result will be captain till we keep losing games.

SR = thanks, oh, one question, who are the other four again.

SJ = For the 100th (actually just 2nd) time, Adams, McNaughton, Filekovic and Caballero.

SR = Ok, thanks for your time

SJ = No problemo!

Stuart, no problems in taking second place ahead of Rangers in the end, 13 points clear is excellent. icon14.gif

I see you've made a good start to your Champions League campaign as well. Judging by the date of the game, is that the 2nd Qualifying Round? Is there still another round before the Group Stage?

Valeriy Lobanovs'kyi Stadium Dinamo, Kiev, Attendance: 11618

D.Kiev 2 - 2 Aberdeen

Like they've done many times before, Aberdeen blew a good lead. Caballero and Adams got goals before half-time. Begovic had a good game, never letting easy shots going in, which is the opposite of Stillie, who lets the bad shots in, while saves the good shots. Begovic had a bit of a problem though, and just after half-time, he let in a goal, after three great saves. Then there was a quite controversal goal after Rincon, who scored it, was clearly offside, but still got the goal, and Stuart went ballistic, at the Ref, like the Red Army, who travelled all the way to Ukraine to see this match. Aberdeen, though, are virtually in the lead, thanks to 2 away goals.

Rangers 1 - 1 Aberdeen

Good result for the Dons, seeing as they don't get much luck against Rangers, but Ex-Don, Scott Severin, put Rangers in the lead after 4 minutes, making Aberdeen panic a little. Severin showed why he is Captain of one of the best teams in Scotland. Fabian Caballero made sure he made his name, scoring Aberdeen's Equaliser, but not much happened after that. The Dons boss said <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content"> Good result, we could have easily won it, but a draw is better then a loss anyday. </div></BLOCKQUOTE> Dons were missing Eagles and Filekovic, while Rangers had Thomrson out after he got Suspeneded.
