    1. I’ve encountered a crash dump, nothing happens or Steam error message on launching the game

    2. The game is stuck on the loading screen

      If you launch the game and find it’s stuck on the loading screen, there are a few troubleshooting steps we suggest undertaking in order to get it to work. First of all, remove any Workshop files like custom graphics and logos you may have added in preparation of launching the game. This can occasionally interfere or slowdown the game when launching.       If you’ve encountered a crash dump whilst continuing or the game processing whilst playing Football Manager 2020 please bear in mind a crash dump is the generic response for any type of crash – deleting the crash dump file will not help.     7. I receive a DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE error message

      If you receive this message at any point when playing or attempting to launch Football Manager 2020 this will be due to an issue with your graphics card. What we would first recommend is checking your system against Football Manager 2020’s minimum specifications. If your system meets these, we would recommend Uninstalling and Reinstalling your Graphics Card drivers.     8. Unable to Save the game successfully/Crashes whilst saving

      If you're having issues when saving the game, there are a few things we'd suggest trying to see if you can get this process to work successfully. First of all, if within a save game try going to FM -> 'Save As'. When prompted to save, try saving to a different location than default (such as the desktop) and see if the game saves.     9. I receive an XML Error on Game Launch

      If you receive an XML error message upon launching the game, we would suggest deleting your Caches and Preferences folders as shown via the links below: Deleting your Caches and Preferences Folders Once you have completed these steps, launch the game. If you're still having issues having done so, please Uninstall and Reinstall the game. Any save games will be left untouched during this process. 
    10. Programs which are known to cause issues with FM and Steam

      Go to the following location - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2020 On Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 - When you have the FM.exe right-clicking on the shortcut link and go to 'properties'.  - Within that screen select the 'compatibility' tab and select compatibility mode by selecting the checkbox.  - Select the system you’re running on (i.e. on Windows 7 select Windows 7).  On Windows 10 - If you’re on Windows 10, right click on the FM shortcut link and select

    13. When attempting to install the game, receive error message 'An error has occurred while installing Football Manager 20 (missing app configuration)'

      If you’ve encountered a message which states ‘An error has occurred while installing Football Manager 20 (missing app configuration)' when attempting to install Football Manager 2020, please shut down Steam and delete this file located at the following location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\appcache\appinfo.vdf Once you’ve completed this, launch Steam and attempt to reinstall and run the game.
    14. User receives ‘Game Unavailable Message’ or game has updated and no longer launches

    15. I receive a ‘Steam’ or ‘Football Manager is already running’ message

      If you receive an error message stating that ‘Steam is already’ running, open up your Task Manager and check if a process of FM is already open. If there is, click on it and select [End Task] to close it. If there are multiple instances of Football Manager 2020 being open, please close them all. Once this is done, try re-launching the game.     16. You get a DEP or Data Execution Prevention error message

      - Go to ‘Start’ > ‘Control Panel’ > ‘System’ > ‘Advanced’ > ‘Performance’ > ‘Data Execution Prevention’. - Select ‘Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select’. - Select ‘Add’, navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam (or your default Steam directory), and add Steam.exe to the exception list.     17. I've encountered an Unable to Initialise Steam API message on launch

      If you receive a message from Steam which states 'Unable to initialise Steam API' when trying to launch the game, it is likely there is some kind of conflict. We would very much suggest configuring or removing your anti-virus program. Please make sure to read the instructions before making any action so not to leave your system unprotected at any point.
    18. User receives Content File Locked Steam Error Message or Disk Write Error

      In this circumstance, if the user receives a message which states 'An error occurred while updating Football Manager 2020 (content file locked)' or 'Disk Write Error' then we would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling Steam.     19. My Update on Steam has a 'Missing File Privileges' message

      This can sometimes occur when anti-virus programs block Steam or FM. To fix this, configure your anti-virus program so it no longer interferes with Steam and the game.     20. The screen appears unusual when starting the game and/or I’m unable to click any buttons within the game

    21. Game Freezes or Goes into Black Screen on Launch

    22. My Graphics Star Rating Appears low or I'm set to a low graphics setting by default

      If you've launched the game and your graphics star rating within preferences is lower than you expected, or the graphics quality is set lower than you think we suggest the following. First of all, exit the game. Make sure that if you're running via a laptop that it's connected to the mains and isn't running in Power Saving mode.
