From time to time, we will ask you to provide us with more information on a particular bug which we will ask you to upload to our public FTP site. We very much recommend using Filezilla to do this:
- Download the Filezilla FTP Client from HERE (Filezilla is Free Opensource)
- Make sure you download the client and NOT the server
- Once the file has downloaded, use an unzip program to extract the files in the zip into a folder on your hard drive (an example of an unzip program is 'WinRaR')
- Open the folder where filezilla has un-zipped, and run the Filezilla.exe program
Once you have opened it up, at the top of the program you will see the following:
Enter the following:
Host: ftp.sigames.com
Username: ftp-public
Password: public
Once entered, click [Quickconnect]
This will connect to our FTP and display your computer on the left-hand side, our FTP on the right.
On the right go to the folder you wish to upload a file to. A guide on which folder to use is listed below. On the left find the file you wish to upload, then simply {Left-Click} on the relevant file and drag it across to the appropriate folder.
Once you've done this, the file will begin to upload as indicated on the file transfer panel below.
Uploading Screenshots
Screenshots should be added to the ftp server in the fm/screenshots folder however we recommend users just drag this onto their posts when logging issues as that way we'll easily be able to look into your issue.
Save Games
Save Games should be added to the ftp server in the fm/game-save folder
Especially with transfer and contract bugs we need a save before the transfer bid is made, or contract offer is made. Likewise for news issues, we'd need the save ideally just before the news item appears. Preferably you should set 'New File for Every Save' via the auto-save option. Doing so means you always have a backup save in case of a power cut or corruption.
Uploading PKMs
Match engine PKMs should be added to the ftp server in the fm/game-pkm folder, however we recommend users just drag this onto their posts when logging issues in the match engine forums.
To generate a pkm file, click Save at the end of a match and can be found in My Documents\Sports interactive\Football Manager 20xx\matches.
Uploading Crash Dump Files
These can be found in the following location (My My Documents\Sports interactive\Football Manager 20xx\Crash dumps). Again it's easier if you just attach these to the posts.
File naming conventions
Save/Screenshot/PKM name format: your-forum-name_bug-description i.e. 'NeilBrock_transfer_cancellation'
In your post include the name for the file when you've uploaded it.
Other Upload Method
As mentioned above with the new forum software, for pkms and crash dump files ONLY you can add these directly to the post.
If you have any issues using Filezilla, you can also use Windows Explorer (windows key + E on the keyboard) and enter ftp.sigames.com into the address bar at the top of the window.
You will then be prompted to enter the username and password as listed above (ftp-public/public)
To upload an attachment simply navigate to the correct folder and drag and drop the appropriate file in the folder.
After you upload the files they will disappear after you close the window. Please remember to name your file something which can easily be identified. If you try to upload a file with a name which is already on the FTP, you will get an 'Access Denied' message. File names cannot be duplicated on the FTP.
