Sometimes, especially on laptops, the game can give an incorrect reading of your system's graphics quality as shown via the in-game preferences. We have provided some steps below to try and help you with this.
First of all, it's worth making sure you are running optimum settings for Football Manager 2017. Details on how to do this can be found below:
Once you've done all the steps above, we recommend making sure the game is closed, then completing the following in the order listed below:
Delete Cache
Delete Preference
Reverify Cache
Once you've completed those steps above, relaunch the game.
Now if you find the star rating is low but the game performance is fine, try increasing your graphics settings in your preferences.
On the other hand, if you find the game is lagging on the default settings, try lowering the settings to see how performance is. Also if you're running in a very high default resolution for your system (found via right-clicking on the desktop and going to display settings) then it may be worth lowering this to see if it improves performance.
If you've recently upgraded to WIndows 10 Creators, make sure 'Game Mode' is disabled. Details on how to do this can be found here - https://www.windowscentral.com/how-enable-disable-game-mode-windows-10-creators-update
Likewise if you're running with an Nvidia card, try turning off the in-game overlay as shown here - http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4228/~/disabling-the-geforce-experience-share-in-game-overlay
If you still find you're having issues, it could well be an anti-virus program conflicting with the game. This can sometimes happen following an update due to the AV mis-reading the update as a threat. Read the following on how to test and reconfigure your settings:
