If the game becomes frozen during playing Football Manager 2017 try the following troubleshooting techniques in order to try and resolve the issue.
Delete Cache
Delete Preference
Reverify Cache
Uninstall the game reinstall.
Once you’ve done this, re-launch the game and try again.
If this still hasn’t resolved the issue or you find your system is shutting down when FM is open, it could well be an overheating issue, especially if the problem occurred whilst playing a 3D match. To determine whether this is the case, first of all try and clear out all the vents and make sure the fans are working on your system.
We would then suggest running a program to monitor your system temperature whilst the game is open. An example of a program that performs this function is SpeedFan. Please bear in mind that this application was not developed by Sports Interactive or Sega and we provide no support or guarantee regarding its use although it is considered a program which will work fine for all users. Please proceed at your risk.
If you switch the game to ‘Windowed’ mode via the in-game preferences you will be able to monitor your temperature whilst running the game. If anything runs at 90c or above you may well have an internal issue with your machine and we would recommend consulting an IT professional.
If your system temperature is fine, we would recommend checking your Graphics Card for errors with a stability test. An example of a program that performs this function is the FurMark Burn-In Test. Again please bear in mind that this application was not developed by Sports Interactive or Sega and we provide no support or guarantee regarding its use. Please proceed at your own risk.
If you can run this test without issue for 15 minutes then the issue is unlikely to be directly related to the graphics card.
