  • All save games suddenly deleted

    Has been working without issue, finished playing last night and saved, closed the game and shut down the PC a few minutes later. I have been using local saves only.

    This afternoon when I started the game up again it couldnt find any saves and when I checked in the game folders, all my saves have been deleted. I don't run anything that would ever touch those files, only the game, never had this issue with any other FM, but now I have to start again from scratch.

    I have no idea what could of caused this issue, but it's incredibly frustrating that it would just delete all my save files randomly. I will certainly be using cloud saves moving forward.

    There's no way the game can remove or delete any saves, this can only be done manually by removing them from disk. The default location where save games are stored is C:\Users\Your Windows Username\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2023\games - is this where your saves were initially? Or were you saving elsewhere?

    Also are you running One Drive on your system? Have you tried manually searching your system for the specific file names of your saves?

    Last night I had the same problem. I've been playing fm manager for a very long time and never ever had issues. Last night went to save it before bed and it said 'can't save game'. Then kicked me off the game and I go to open the saved game and it wasn't there. I'd spent £15 getting £200 million plus other additional items. I'd gone a season and a half since the release and to just be deleted is heartbreaking. The money is a pain yes but its the time and effort taken basically lost. Started a new game thinking it must be 1 in a million chance. Only spend about £7.50/£8 and same thing has happened. Being mostly disabled I spend a lot of time on this game.... I play fortnite but love football management games and started playing when it was pbm (play by mail) sending instructions team sheets etc thru the post. Email then took over and now.... its incredible with digital honestly. Anyway my point is.... its annoying especially when you don't know why its happening. I tried checking in case it was a storage problem but nothing. I tried on my tablet and it was not on there either on the game pass. The system/software has definitely caused this. I'm using an xbox series S. I've started a new game and its ok just now but not buying anything.... as I say though.... its not about the money!  Its perfect entertainment for me personally. Hopefully it will get sorted. Thanks
