  • Bizarre player ratings bug

The player rating calculator seems weirdly biased towards whatever happens in the last few minutes of the match.

I've had loads of games where I've won, say, 5-1, but all my players get 5/6/7 and the losing team all get 7/8/9, just because they scored a consolation in the last minute.

Likewise, in each game I've noticed that a player will get a 5 if they score early before making a late mistake, whereas they'll get an 8 if they make an early mistake but score late on.

This was an issue on previous versions but seems to be hypercharged in this release. The final straw was a 3-3 draw where I blew a 3-0 lead: my players got 4/5s, the opposition got 9/10s, and we drew! Weird...

Can't seem to work out how to upload these but suffice to say it's not an isolated thing: every savegame I've had over the past few editions of FMM has had this. I just did a slightly more rigorous check on this hypothesis: I looked back through my last 10 draws on my current game, and it was interesting: whichever team scored the last goal averaged a Team Rating 0.6 higher than the team who conceded last. There's obviously no reason why you can't have a draw where one side plays better than the other, but it's consistent. That's the sort of difference I'd usually get with a 1- or 2-goal win, and there's no reason why one team should always get better ratings when they score last.

On a slightly related note, I've always been reluctant to make substitutions late in the game, cos I'm protective of my players' average ratings, and a player who comes on in the 88th minute is unlikely to get more than a 6. The problem is, a player rating from 2 minutes seems to count the same as a rating from 90 minutes. Is there a way of adjusting it? Then the game would become more realistic since we'd be more willing to make late substitutions to chase/shutdown the game without affecting players' reputations.

This link has information about how to upload files to us. If you could send us an up-to-date pkm and a save from just before the match in the pkm took place please?

Ok that was tricky on my device but I just sent the last few games at random. As you can see, the average rating of each team doesn't really reflect the match result, but it does reflect who scored last, ie who 'finished on a high'. In each case the scores were way different at halftime, reflecting the dominance of the team leading. Obviously if you're 3-0 up at half time and the second half fizzles and the opposition grab a late consolation then your players won't retain the stellar scores they had at half time, but you wouldn't expect the losing team to consistently get the higher ratings. I could do this for almost any other game I've played.

This 'bug' has been present for years now, and is really spoiling my enjoyment of an otherwise great product. I have attached multiple examples where late goals have massively skewed the player ratings in an unrealistic way. Most times I have to replay these matches, because the effect of the poor ratings on squad morale etc isn't really fair.
