  • Transferring FM23 save into 24 on Steam Deck

When using a Steam Deck I am unable to access a FM23 save file. I've tried using the Z: drive and the C: drive options but I cannot locate my FM23 save file

As a workaround I've manually moved my FM23 save into my FM24 games folder.

Are you able to confirm if you can navigate to/see the FM23 folders at all on your Steam Deck when browsing in FM24?

Can you also confirm if you still have FM23 installed?

I'm afraid this does require manual intervention, because games are sandboxed on Steamdeck Fm24 cannot directly access FM23 games. We have spoken to Valve about the possibility of them adding an API to facilitate access, but really its up to them if/when it happens.

@rich10 - This current workaround should work and we'll look to see if we can push a fix this in a future update.

    1. When in Desktop Mode, click the folder in bottom left corner

    2. Under ‘Devices’ select Home

    3. In the top right corner, click on the drop menu and make sure ‘Show Hidden Files’ is ticked

    4. Navigate to Deck/Local/Share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1904540/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2023/Games.

    5. Copy the save.

    6. Then navigate to Navigate to Deck/Local/Share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/2252570/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2024/Games.

    7. Paste the save.

    8. Then in FM24, load the save game. It'll get converted and then open.

Let us know how you get on.

Thank you @EdL for that explanation, that explains the 'why' clearly.

And thank you @Dan Sheppard, that does work for me.

Cheers fellas, great game overall, loving this animation upgrade and the match engine improvements. Brilliant.
