There are no regulations regarding the participation of foreigners in the match rules. But in reality, it does exist.

This is part of the document that stipulates the tournament regulations published by the JFA.

1)Teams outside of the J-League are only allowed to have up to three foreign players participate in a match.
    2) J1 League clubs can have up to five foreigners participate in matches.
    3) J2&J3 League clubs can have up to four foreigners participate in matches.
    4) Members of J.League affiliated countries are not treated as foreigners.

Thanks for this. missed it. its kinda difficult to have J1 having 5 and J2/3 having 4 and others having 3 from 5. So it should be fine having 5 in the match day squad as per J1 rules right?
