Not sure if its a know issue, but U21 rule for first division changes each year. One year is U21 after that changes to U22, after that changes to U21 rule again. Should be a constant U21 rule.

    • Steps To Reproduce:
      1. Play in Romania first league
      2. Simulate 1 year
      3. U21 rule changes to U22 rule

    Hi Tazz,

This is in accordance to the FRF/LPF rulling. The point is that U21 player is a player that can be used by the U21 Romanian team in their matches. And, for a qualification period, are available all players that are born after the 1st of January of a specific year. Since the qualification period is over 2 years, there could be cases where a player will become 22 and still be eligible for the U21 national team. So the developers, I think, found this solution to put in practice the rule. One example of how this rule is put in practice by UEFA is the last Euro U21 championship where, due to how the rule is written, there were even 23 year old players eligible for the U21 team. Since the championship was postponed due to the COVID situation.

The basic idea of this match rule is that teams playing in Romanian First League must use a certain number of players eligibile for Romania U-21 National Team

Starting with season 2021-2022, all the teams must use 1 player of this type in the Starting 11 (at start of the match) and 1 player in the playing eleven (on the field for the full match)

The trick with this kind of players is that the age limit changes only once at 2 years, according to UEFA Rules for U21 National Teams as below:

    - for season 2021-2022 will be 01.01.2000

    - for season 2022-2023 will be 01.01.2000

    - for season 2023-2024 will be 01.01.2002

    - for season 2024-2025 will be 01.01.2002

So, the rule is correct in FM22. Thread could be closed.
