Oh and in other news that Lorenzo Kwakman (the outrageous Napoli forward) scored 28 Serie A goals - the most since Luca Toni way back in 2005/06. V. Impressive.

I got 5 cause I thought you finished in 5th haha, but I want that, if it was 4 then I could've made it in during my last season on Fafe haha.

Well my Fafe loving friend am I right in thinking there are fewer teams than in Serie A (20)? If so that would explain it a little. I'd also say that the Italian league is far tougher to finish top 4 than it is to finish top 2 of Portugal

Although in reality it probably isn't much different!

18 teams in Liga Sagres, so thats 1 in 9 that make it to Europe. 1 in 5 in Spain & Italy (4 of 20). Also in my Fafe game Portugal sucked so much they dropped to 1 CL team haha. Well I dunno about easier to make top 2 in Portugal, still have Sporting, Benfica & Porto, I would call those the Big 3. Spain only really has a big 2 in Real & Barca, Italy has who Inter, Milan, Roma, Juve. So probably similar to Italy for difficulty, I must be missing someone in Spain haha.

There's also Valencia, Villarreal, Atletico, Zaragoza...who give me fits from time to time...

In my Real Oviedo game, the big 4 is basically Real, Barca, Real Oviedo, and Zaragoza...

Although tbh, the last few years, the other team beside Real, Barca, and Real Oviedo is either Atletico, Zaragoza or Valencia. Switches every year.

I'll post my season update tomorrow. Having a bit of fun with a no player db.

EDIT: getting closer to Sawchuk's shutout record.

Well I just absolutely dominated Marinhense, yet they got up 2-0 thru two offside goals, and I could only pull back one. a 2-1 loss, but I managed to use that to climb from 10th to 9th haha.

Gutted you lost. Refs never get it right.

I think the Bruins, Caps, Red Wings, and Sharks will have a little about that Stanley Cup!

Pfft the Bruins are all over when we beat them on Sunday and then take top of the East.

But yeah i reckon its going to be a good run in, and it just has to be close at the end. I think the Caps are going to go Belly up in the Playoffs, but I think the rest will make it close :P

Well turned it around the next game a 2-0 victory over Hospital which takes me up to 8th, only 2 pts off 6th now.

Des Tiny's Alcobaca
First Phase
Halfway Point

Matches in November

02/11 at Marinhense 1-2
Marco (72)

09/11 vs O. Hospital 2-0
Russo (49), Marco (85)
Att: 609

23/11 at U. Lamas 3-3
Marco (38,72), Pinto (49)

30/11 vs Maritimo B 0-1

Att: 1083

Well not my best month, but coming back from 2-0 down against the Lamas (5th) was a delight, and showed me that we can compete against the best teams. It was a disappointing loss to Maritimo, and we could've taken that, but knowing that at any time they can be playing a star it doesn't help.

The Standings

Code:
 Pos Team Record GolDif Points
 1st Espinho 11-0-2 +27 33

 6th Infesta 6-3-4 +7 19 (PS)
 7th Marinhense 5-2-6 -6 17
 8th O. Bairro 5-1-7 -3 16
 9th Alcobaca 4-3-6 -6 15
10th O. Hospital 4-2-7 -8 14
11th Lourosa 3-4-6 -9 13
Well sitting in 9th spot and still in touch with 6th which is my main aim, if in the next 13 games we can improve up to 6th then we will avoid relegation. Anything less than 6th while acceptable means I have to fight in the Relegation series.

Marco's Goal Hunt

Marco managed to pick up 3 more during November which was a delight, but it was still not enough as others managed to pick up more. he needs to work harder, and the rest of the team need to start giving him some support.

Code:
Top Goalscorer
Paulista (U. Lamas) 15
Marco (Alcobaca) 13
Pedras (Marinhense) 12
Akpala (Maritimo B) 11
Barreto (O.Bairro) 10
Mendes (Espinho) 10
Gomes (Fatima) 8
Mercio (Espinho) 8
All around that month was reasonable, but if I want a shot at promotion this season I need something special come January.

Halfway through the first stage here in my first season at Fafe, currently 6th after 12 games on 20 points, 4 away from 7th placed. Hopefully we'll keep winning and making the gap larger s we have a shot shot of getting promoted.

They were probably playing a couple of senior players, when I faced Maritimo B I had to fight to keep the score to 1-0 as they had their senior MC playing, but when a team below me played them they beat them 2-0 because there were no senior players in there. The B teams is a bit of a farce and really unfair on the other teams in the division.

Savona End of Season 15 Update (2023/24)

Serie A:

Predicted Finish: 3rd
Actual Finish: 4th|Graph

Italian Cup: Semi Finalists (Lost to Roma 2-0 on agg)

End of Season Notes:
A big improvement this year as we found a settled team capable of winning away and competing with the top 4/5 in Italy. We came close to mounting a title challenge but in reality Napoli's phenomenal start and AC Milan's strong 2nd half of the season meant we were to fall short. Thankfully a great final day victory at Lazio meant we just clung on to the final CL spot for next season . In the Italian Cup we were expected by the board to win it. However a very disappointing 2-0 home defeat left us with too much to do in the 2nd leg. A semi final defeat this year. Top goalscorer was Riccardo Rotunno although his first half of the season was pretty dismal. With the sale of Zaninelli to AC Milan it means one of Kumar or Michele Badini need to step up to the plate next season. For my player of the season it was split between these two:

Jimmy Blixt - Blixt with another excellent season to follow up an incredible year last time out. He's not the highest rated player in my squad, but his expert dribbling keeps defenders on their toes and he always delivers.

Tommaso Cilona - Captain Marvelous sent one of his trademark 30 yarders crashing in at the Olimpico to secure our CL spot. Hero. Fans seem to agree with me - Fans Player of the Year.

Best XI
No changes to the Best Ever XI

No youth academy players came through of note. Another barren year.

Quick note on the importance of loans in young player's development. Here is Alessio Bartoli before and after a loan spell at Serie B side Vicenza:
Before
After

Next Season:
The board now want me to qualify for Europe through the league, so the pressure is off a little bit. I don't plan on buying anyone major in the summer as I'm fairly happy with our squad. The only men coming in at the turn of the football year are that 17 year old keeper form United (Andrew Williams) and a strong Italian CM (Vincenzo Fabrizi) from rivals Genoa. Only the few youth products that haven't quite fulfilled their potential will be allowed to leave. Bring on the new year

EDIT: Liguori, Secco, Cilona and Giannini were part of Italy's 2024 Euro's winning squad

Well our run had two opposite ends of the spectrum in late December, a huge 1-0 victory over Ac. Viseu (2nd) & a huge 1-0 loss to Fatima (12th), this leaves us in 8th place with 8 points to catch 6th and only 7 games remaining, it is just a little stretch too far, but I am going to fight all the way to the end.

Erm you know when you sign a player that you think will be awesome, then when he signs you see him again and think "oh crap what a waste of money"??

That just happened with the 17 year old keeper :embarrassed:

Reminds me of the time I bought that US$15 million Swedish striker.

Reminder to self: Don't buy strikers from Liga Sagres. Inflated goal scoring numbers.

My reserves cost me nothing Haha knew the money flinging would come back to bite you later.

As for the inflated goalscoring in the Liga Sagres, I never noticed that. mind you I had such a defense orientated team that no one could score on me :P (Except Sporting & Porto)
Yeah ok they are inflated if the player plays for Sporting or Porto haha.

Or maybe it's me.

The Swedish striker began his career at Djurgarden, and signed with Helsingborg on a free, scored 22 in 26 games, and left for Braga for US$2.1 mil. In 4 seasons, he racked up 59 goals in 99 games. I sign him for US$13.75 mil, and scores only 21 in 120...transfer listed him at $6 mil, get off to Malaga, and tallied 11 in 27.

Oh well, I was going to sell him anyways, too many strikers on my team.

I use advance reply. I don't know the exact way to type the smiley out...I just click on the smileys to the right of the message box.

You are using enhanced interface right?

Who needs codes anyways. Do it the lazy way.

Maybe I should reconsider whether to finish the challenge off quickly to get those naming rights. I'm no let down.

We will always get on, but part of that will be having a stunning rivalry at the same time
And having the codes makes it easier cause then you can create a fancy post without having to go advanced

Nice one Iacovone, on retaining Champions League football.

Max, looks as though you'll be joining me in Serie B, it seems your squad must be in far better shape than mine with they way you seem to be dominating the league.

Back to my normal posting and playing rate it seems, work life has somewhat taken back over

I don't want to go back to our old stadium!
This temporary one is allowing me to make a profit of about 150-200k per month, we'll just spiral back into making losses at our actual stadium..

With just 2 games to go we've secure our position in Liga Adelante for next season.

Final two games are against sides in the relegation zone so I'm hoping for a couple of wins to end the season.

Mighty Messina Secure title with six games to spare

]
Messina have secured there second consecutive league title as they win promotion back to Serie B 3 years after being Demoted to Serie D due to financial reasons.

Max's Messina team sit 21 points clear at the top of the Serie C1B table with an unbeaten record thus far the main reason for their sucess has been the performences of there key players Abdoulaye Tine, Tsevtomir Todorov, Antonio De Mattis, Angelo Corsi,Marco Croce, Edgar Gauracs and super keeper Matteo Andreoletti who went 2108 without conceeding a goal.

After half of the season gone, the table looks like this.

Pretty proud of the team so far, however it is fairly misleading, it may seem as if the draws could have been turned to wins, however in most cases, we were lucky to snatch a point. I think we'll be safe now though.

This pretty much shows how consistently inconsistent we are.

The record of 9-9-9 is literally the only time this has ever happened to a team i'm managing.

I spent last fall in California and saw San Jose vs Kansas City - they were awful! Although they did have the legendary Claudio Lopez in their side! Saw the Seattle Sounders won their first ever franchise game

Was that before Huckerby came to San Jose?

Didn't see the Sounders game, but quite a nice sight at Qwest Field. Nice dominant win over the RBNY.

Watching KC vs TFC reminds me of FM. Chad Barrett totally messes up a 1 on 1 on GK Kevin Hartman...shot it right to him.

Will probably post up my season update soon btw.

No it was during the GREAT Huckerby's time. He actually looked embarrassingly superior to the rest of the players around him. Think San Jose won 2-0.

So Savona news: Remember Gianluca Coco the guy I resigned for £20m? Well Roma have just bid £41m . That was a short stay then

Now who to spend all that money on?!

Expanding the stadium?

I have a lot of money (the exact amount will be seen in the next update ), but got no idea who to spend it on (and I want to play my youths too)...

Toronto FC 0-0 KC Wizards (29th) - Refs missed a handball from TFC defender Serioux.

33rd minute: GOAL BY TFC. SCORED BY CAPTAIN JIMMY BRENNAN. ASSIST BY DWAYNE 'DE RO' DeROSARIO!! 1-0 TFC!

Well I have an idea. I want an AMC. There is an incredible AMRC who would be perfect from Inter. He will cost a LOT though.

Like you rancer I still want to blood through my youth talents. The guy I showed in my end of year report who went on loan to Vicenza - Bartoli - will be the next big thing imo. V.talented CB.

Great season again Rancer, closing the gap at the top every year.

can take some positives out of the fact you lose to Liverpool who lost to Real Madrid who won the CL; So, could say you got beat by the team taha got beat by the winners if its any consolation?

Curious as how Villa hasn't got a Senior international cap yet?

Yup, just gotta keep winning the games we should be winning, and maybe beat Real at home...I think I can beat Real.

Not sure why Villa hasn't be capped yet...looks better than the current group. Weird thinking by the Italians, not calling up Villa.

Squad - Average ratings are a bit generous for some players. Not generous enough for others.

Squad Ratings - Few stand out star sbut need a few more if I want promotion.

Finances -

Top Goalscorer - Signed last season and finally come into his own - fighting off bids for him as we speak.

Most Assists - Liked the look of this player but not one stat has gone up in two years at the club despite his leading BBVA striker coach report.

Best Performer - 'Organised' the midfield well - signed on a free - bargain.

Seasonal | Overall

Goals for the next year
Top half.
Cup run would be nice.

Not sure why Villa hasn't be capped yet...looks better than the current group. Weird thinking by the Italians, not calling up Villa.
Anyone can beat Real. Just look at the CL Final..

Not excatly the most Italian sounding name, could that be the reason?

Toronto losing yet?

Hehe Villa...

TFC leading 3-1 now. 63rd minute.

And Spain wants me now....hmm 2nd best team in the world...and I can cap every single Real Oviedo player. Will save for later.

EDIT: TFC wins 3-2!!! De Ro missed a penalty though...I wouldn't have been crewing my nails for the last 20 mins if he scored lol

Probably not as he is only rated as decent Serie A but still he is my best Youth product yet.

Screenie of him the Japanese goalie and the Ukrainian striker will be posted later

*cries*... David managed to brake his finger in training and so will be out for 2 months , means i have to rely on Jesus...

EDIT: an all important win over Izarra sees us back level on points with 4th position who lost

iacovone - congrats on Champions League football again. as fopr the Man U keeper, i've been there too

max - congrats on promotion. Sure you'll find your feet ok in Serie B. Seriiously unlucky with the record too.

rancer - another good finish. just need to make that breakthrough to challenge the top spot.

TaylorB - more progress made which is good. hopefully you can kick on next season. Keep the faith with Albert - i think he'll develop pretty well.

Well I think I broke Portugal...:O I finished the First Phase in 8th. Now the other 3 second divisions have started their promotion leg, but my group hasn't and its now been over a month since my last game. And the Relegation stage hasn't started either, going to continue when I get home from work but I think it is broked.

Just signed a Midfielder from Inter for a staggering £1.3 million which is all my transfer budget and considering my highestbuy before that was 350k it's a big risk. He's rated as a decent BBVA player which is great but sinceI've signed him I've seen some flaws. For example positioning is only 10 and all but Pace Fitness and Stamina in Physical Attributes are lower than 10..

Physically he's poor, but technically he seems gifted, maybe more of a Riquelme than a Gerrard..

i think you'll be alright too. definately need to work on his strength but technically he's solid for his age. Mentality will come with experience too. he can't be that bad if he's an Italian U-21......

Also, for those that remember the early years of my Como save on Fm08, joining the club next seaon is Mattia Destro, the man who fired us to promotions in the early seasons.
