Damn that sucks. I was wondering why I didn't see any 'ask assistant" thing or feedback during my friendly.

Anyways, lost my first friendly to Ossett Town, 2-1. Horrible game. At least we scored.

Weird, my last game with Carshalton I had no feedback after having to hire my own, glad it works for you though!

Any tips on what i need to change to make my CB's stay closer together? There leaving massive gaps so the other team can just play through balls and be 1 on 1 with the keeper.

Hastings - '09-'10 Update

10 games into the league season sitting 2nd in the league.

Notable events include:

A couple of late winning goals, against Bishop's Stortford and Maidenhead.

Ameobi putting four past Tiverton, he could have had about ten if he hadn't been so wasteful but still bagged a 9.6 rating.

Some funny feedback from my ass man I noticed during the game against bath (third item under "Pre-Match").

I have obviously been boosting their egos a bit too much. But its nice to get feedback like this from one of your players.

Proof Scouts even at BSS level can find some gems like this guy Hemmel, no idea why he turned up in my search being American (2nd nation Italian) until I noticed last season he was playing for Halesowen. Scout report gives him 7 stars on both potential and current.

Had a mid-season takeover which no one took any notice of as it was just another director.

You could try reducing your width, or try man marking with the centre backs.

I would suggest if you do go narrow and then notice your full backs not picking up runners (eg wingers) put your full backs on tight marking "yes".

Hmm, that would make more sense, given they arent that bad a side IRL this season. At least I know they are in the 2nd round of the FA Cup.

Actually been offered parent clubs by this chairman, choice of Notts County or Nottingham Forest. Picked Nottingham Forest, despite County offering me 2k a year more. Perhaps I may get a couple of decent players for once!

2011/2012 Ramsgate Blue Square South

Just a quick update.

League

Squad

Danny Glover

Sam Lovatt

Felino Jardim

Bostwick

We've had an excellent season and are probably the best team in the league, we were just a little too inconsistent - mostly down to my tactics Very happy to make the playoffs, hopefully we'll make some money via ticket sales!

Playoff semi final leg 1

Playoff semi final leg 2

Going up against a strong Dorchester side in the final, though I am confident we can prevail and get promoted! Wish me luck.

Unfortunately it's likely I'll be in a relegation scrap next season, I'm probably going to lose a few key players and won't be able to bring much quality in because of our debt. Almost -£700k in the red now. If I can become a profitable club next season and just about survive I'll be happy

Hitchin Transfers so Far

Gareth Taylor- kinda old, but excellent stats, got him for free

Mark Houghton- another free,he was on football icon 2 LOL

Matthew James- free

Andrew Chapman- another free. They say he is normally a right winger but I'm going to need him to play left.

Second friendly win this season. Gareth Taylor scored on his debut and did well, but Mark Houghton takes the cake. He got his first goals in todays win. He almost had a hattrick but his last shot hit the crossbar.

Does anyone else playing as FC United have a 16 year old striker in their squad called Steve Clarke?

Just asking as he seems a quality player and i'm considering giving him a chance in the cup games. He's the only player my assistant ever mentions when my u-18's play a match.

Just went for a browse on FC United website and noticed Kyle Wilson has score 15 from 17 games (http://www.fc-utd.co.uk/player.php?player_id=155).

So he isnt just good on FM then?

He's ineligible for the cup. Why would that be. Is there an age limit?

If you put your cursor over the ineligible marker it should tell you why. Did he play in a u-18 game on the same day? If so then thats probably why, can't play in 2 games in one day. I don't think there is an age limit.

OMG!! One of my guys just missed an absolute sitter!! A cross came in and he was wide open in the box. The net was wide open, keeper no where near him. The volleys it and it hits the post, then rolls along the goal line, then the defense clears. So frusterating!!!!

Away at Eastleigh, ranked as 15 - 1 Outsiders (which I thought was quite bizarre)

Changed tactic to a counter attacking 451 and it worked perfectly. Feeling is great!

Just played Eastleigh at home. First match of the season. Had 7-4 odds, Eastleigh 5-4 odds to win. Result . And to top it off my 16 year old keeper was in goal, his debut. My regular keep was suspended.

GET IN!

Super sub super Kyle pops up to head a well earned winner in the dieing seconds.

In his first appearance of the season super sub super Kyle has given his manager a selection headache with a brief but stand out performance against the mighty Redditch. Not really had a look in this season with first choice strikers Onome Sodje & Michael Malcolm keeping him on the bench, will super sub super Kyle get the start he so badly wants?

Half way through the season now and things are looking promising.

Managed to get a 4-4-1-1 tactic that sits well with my starting 11

Table - League Table | Position Graph
Transfers - Transfers Summary
Finances - Finance Summary
Other Info - Club Information | Manager Information
Top Scorer - Antonio Murray

Best Eleven - Overall | Season

Finished 8th in the league, and to be honest, it could have been a lot worse. The team was pretty awful in the first half of the season, and I was in the relegation zone at one point. Thankfully the results picked up, and by the time there was only four matches left, I was actually a candidate for the playoffs, but a couple of defeats put an end to that. Overall, I'm happy with 8th place and will look to secure a playoff spot next season.

Did well in the cups again this season. Made it to the 2nd round of the FA Cup where I put up a good fight against Crewe, but ultimately lost 4-2. Made it to the final of the Conference League Cup for the 2nd year in a row, but this time I lost to Stevenage. Also progressed to the Semi-Finals of the FA Trophy, but Forest Green were too strong for me and won 3-2 on agg.

My only aim for next season is to clinch a playoff spot.

FM 2009 has finally arrived! Time to end my self impossed ban from reading the forums and get the party started!

Thread at 20 pages already o.O . I'm looking forward to catching up with some of your stories, but have forced myself to not read this thread until I have selected my team for the first season (otherwise im quite likely to go shopping based on others picks ).

I'll definantly be playing as FC United of Manchester as its simply too perfect of an opportunity to pass up (and with only 1050 rep, it doesn't really kill the difficulty level either! ).

Bring on the holiday season!

I asked the same question.

2 were long term loans and a 3rd was a 3 month deal that was renewed again and again.

The player from Wrexham was released ad signed on a free.

I feel bad even if I use the search function after seeing you guys mention player names and then try and sign them for myselves, because my scouts/player search screen havent come up with them.

I am fairly sure I'm probably annoying people with my constant attempts and relegation battles, in fact my best attempt so far is the one that hasnt got to the end of the first season, due to the ass man not working properly on it.

I'm sure the TTF stuff is brilliant, but ultimately I really dont think its for me, besides I have glanced at it, and established that it would involve far too much thinking to understand it all, given I want to play this game after work!
I'm very similar to you.

Because of the way I play I have never completed either this challenge or the Gundo challenge, (and in all likelyhood never will), but it's still the way I like playing.

I don't sign players that others suggest and the only time I break LLM rules is in the signing of Super Kyle. Obviously this season I did not even have to break that rule as I started managing FC Utd. It looks like I will be relegated and sacked at the end of this, (my first season), but I have no intention of downloading someones tactics or reading someone else's theories on what works and what doesn't.

I know that others do it and good luck to them, (let's be honest, reading a tactical theory thread in T&TG is a far lesser evil than the likes of downloading a tactic or using FM Scout or the editor or the like).

Anyway, I will also be continuing with tales of woe for as long as my poor managerial form continues.

It's the people that struggle at this challenge that make the success of others all the more rewarding.

Oh my.

I just snapped up this 15-year old regen for free, and he's fooking class.

The coach report says it all really. For reference, the Shane Lowry mentioned in the coach report is a 22-year old defender on loan from Aston Villa.

Great update - think you will secure promotion next year if you continue with that form.

However, if you're like me you will most likely create a new team over the summer and remove all the togetherness you have created.

I have Barry in my team - seems pretty decent. Also looked at Perpetuini (sp?) but considered him too old

Agree with you re: it's the people who struggle....

I have used a tactic from FM08 that I built up and literally copied and pasted it from the other game.

My main tweak is to use the Phil Brown model and have a genius in the hole behind the front two and three work horses in the middle of the park. My motto is to do everything possible to get the ball back (ie high pressing) - this requires three subs to be used almost every game for me

Barry plays pretty well for me, but I doubt he'll be any good above BSP level, and I got rid of Perpetuini at the end of the season.

Season 2014/15 Review - Hendon in Coca-Cola League 2

League Table
Past Positions

Managed to grab one of the automatic promotion spots despite rather poor form toward the end of the season. Luckily for me the other big teams didn't have a very good March-April period either. As a result we've been very stable in terms of league position throughout and only really dropped down a bit early in the season before the team had gelled properly.

Squad

The loanees got to act as cover this season as we signed some very good players of our own. Steve Brandon was a particular highlight, filling Che James' shoes from last season with ease. Considering how poorly my strikers did this season, we needed it.

Transfers

Had to let a few players who became unhappy go, but got a decent transfer fee for at least one of them. Still not spending any huge amounts on signings as my scouts and assistant always seem to come back with good players who we can get for nothing/cheap.

Aim for next season: Stay up. Judging by previous seasons though, I'm hopeful of a mid-table finish if we can just secure some new talented players.

Nice to see someone else managing Halesowen. I see you've also kept a lot of the players who initially came straight up from below the BSN! Impressive.

Most probably because the team didnt start with an ass man when it came up. There seems to be a known bug with that.

Looks like things aren't going so well for another team eligible in this challenge, especially considering they just got promoted to that division. I always thought they started with really good finances.

Almost as bad as the ones who want you to build the team around them, especially when they are barely average or are 34.

Whitby - 10/11 - BSP

so im finding it a bit harder having been promoted, brought in a few players, i think i need a striker that can score more than 10 a season

also, i just got my first MoM, you can see here im rubbish for scoring. just 15goals in 16 games, im currently 10th aswell

I have spent the last 2 and a half ours trying to find a sub 1000 team with no luck.

Not happy.

EDIT - And just as I post this Chippenham pop up.
Yes they do have a reputation of 1000 but they are only 20 mins away from my home so I will be them

Christ, Hicks looks fantastic, he's gonna bang those goals in!

Oh and I was absolutely S**ting myself through this game, it was almost as bad as actually sitting in the stands watching it for real, I couldn't even watch the penalties and left the room and came back to see the result and I couldn't believe it!

Failing that I have saves of Gloucester, Ilkeston, Mangostfield uploaded, and can also upload Buxton, Matlock and Banbury (those 3 after 2 years holiday), if requested.

My assistant reckons they are already good league 1 players, and hicks could be 'a good championship striker', so they will get alot of first team football

I've just signed Mcmanaman on loan
